Your room is not corny. As you you said, it’s what makes you comfortable. My room is a mash of bright colours and and childish things but also things I like now because I feel like I can’t get rid of the things from my childhood. This video made me realise how much I actually feel comfortable in my room, I always say it’s too childish and I’m going to get it decorated but now I’ve seen this I realise that’s what I like and makes me comfortable. This has helped me so much, thank you.

Hey now! Licensed therapist here 🤟 Just about everything you're saying is spot on and yes, "scientifically proven" ... or evidenced based.
Creating a calm safe space is actually a technique used in a lot of therapeutic interventions such as mindfulness and EMDR.
    Definitely not corny dude!
We need more of you and your candid vulnerability ... which I choose to believe is incredibly empowering.
There's plenty more I'd totally be down to processing or bouncing back and forth with you if you want but just know, you are making sense, you are going in the right and very needed direction with your platform, and trust the process. I realize that's mad cliche but keep going dude!

Matt explaining that everyone (including him) has some sort of mental health issue makes me feel as though I’m not alone. I really struggle with anxiety and social anxiety. Matt saying this makes me feel 100x better knowing everyone struggles. And I’m a big overthinking so when I overthink I get overwhelmed and I get anxiety. I just wish Matt knew how much he’s helped me knowing that it’s okay to not be okay, and that it’s completely normal. I love Matt so so much!❤️

Seeing the younger generations actually care about each others mental health and using your platform to help others amazes me. That’s something that’s not done enough. If my generation had people to look up too/be real with a lot of us probably would have made better choices instead of holding everything in and trying to figure it out in our own. Keep shooting for the stars and keep your dream alive. It’s worth it!

It’s also not corny that your room is cabin themed, because it’s YOUR room and you can do whatever you want with it. The only important thing is that you feel comfortable and like it and nobody is allowed to judge you for that. I really appreciate you for talking about your anxiety so honestly and I hope that you realized over the past few months, that you’re also an amazing RUclipsr alone and that we really enjoy watching you‘re Videos. I’ve been struggling rlly bad with my anxiety and ocd lately so this channel is genuinely very comforting and real. I can’t wait to see more from him and hope he continues. His voice in general is such a relaxing distraction from the ocd/anxiety obsessions that’s been CONSTANT in my mind lately. I’m just hoping he gets more comfortable filming by himself and learns that he’s not boring, he seems so sweet. I love watching him plus hearing how he copes w his anxiety has been helping me a lot and I’m definitely gonna try the whole room decorating thing cause that’s such a good idea. Anyway I’m so greatful for the triplets cause they’ve been such a fun distraction, just watching them whenever I’m anxious or sad cause they’re all so funny. I think Matts channel is so important tho cause sometimes I watch the triplets and I feel envious of the things they do and how they interact w each other cause me and my siblings grew apart over the years but seeing Matt openly talk about his anxiety is reassuring that everyone has struggles and even though they do all these great things they still have mental health struggles and personal issues. I’m for sure a “Matt girl” tho he’s so cute LMAOO

IM SO SORRY THIS IS SO LONG 🫠
first i just want to say, you can post whenever you want. whether it’s every week, every few months - we’re just happy you’re being so open and vulnerable with us. it means way more than you know. growing up i never really had anyone advocating for mental health and ever since your first video on this page - it’s definitely become a safe place for me. personally, i love the sit down talking to the camera because it feels more personal and is really calming HOWEVER i also loved the voice overs. the clip of you at the cabin looked so peaceful and i know that clip and doing voiceovers are more comfortable for you - whether you do one or the other, or even a mix of both, just know we’ll be more than appreciative. i can’t thank you enough for starting this channel, for you advocating for mental health and wanting to try your best to help us in the best way you can. your heart is so pure.
ALSO - the redecorating your room…definitely NOT just for kids. a bedroom is supposed to be your safe place to escape from anything and everything when your mind/the world becomes too much. comparing your bedroom back home in old videos to how you have it set up now - we might just be seeing it through our phone / tv screens BUT personally, i can just tell how happy it makes you and how much more calm it makes you feel to have all of those things. i also love the cabin vibe as a whole for the room. whether you’re 8 or 65 - redecorating your room to make you feel better about it and yourself is nothing to feel ashamed about. Again, thank you so so much for starting this channel and i absolutely cannot wait to see what you have in store for your yesterdays.problem account. We are all so proud of you 🤍

You are not corny for this matt. I hope you know that your channel is a safe space for people and you are someone that many of us go to for comfort and to not feel alone; and that is a very special thing. We know that your anxiety is not your whole personality, but we very much appreciate how open, honest, real, and vulnerable you have been with your mental health. Even if you’re not a professional, you can still help many from your own experiences and things that have personally helped you, tons of people will resonate. You can post whenever you feel and whatever you want, we’ll support you no matter what. I think you can definitely alternate between sit down talks in any environment you choose (ex your room, your car, etc), voice overs when you wanna get a certain point across or maybe if you wanna show specific things that help or that you struggle with etc, and stories and/or questions from fans!! I’d like to hear more about your social anxiety; what it has been like for you, things that have helped you, how it affects your relationships with people or interactions with people, etc. Thank you so much for being an advocate for mental health, for being real with us & for being a safe space. I love you Matt 💙💙

I love that you’re using your platform to create awareness for mental health and to spread your knowledge of what it feels like. It’s so comforting knowing that you aren’t alone and watching your videos really provide, maybe not everyone, but some people the clarity they need, that it’s okay to not be okay. I’m currently 17 and grieving the loss of my mum, I’ve developed really bad depression and anxiety but your videos are very much peaceful and calming and I’m excited to see what you do in the future!! ❤️

I deal with super bad anxiety most days, to where I don’t even leave my home. So this is inspiring and nice to hear! :) I recently listened to a pod ep where you guys discussed New Year’s resolutions, and I’ve honestly been following through so far. One of my goals is to be more open and learn about myself. I’m one of the most indecisive ppl ever lol I just recently started watching you guys and I don’t think I’ve had as much fun watching/listening to RUclips in years. I have favorites on here but it’s been ppl I’ve watched since I was 10, and I’m 21 now. And recently lost my job, so having something to bring me a bit of joy has been your RUclips videos. So thank you!! I’m on a journey of bettering myself and not isolating myself with my close ones. I know this may not be seen, but if anyone in the comments reads this just know you’re awesome!! And that everyday is a new day to look forward to. Some days will be tough to get through but know that one day there will be a light at the end of that tunnel. It takes time to get there, but you can do it ! :))) have a good day/night everyone!!

I’ve come back to this again because although I don’t suffer with anxiety attacks, I am always busy, I don’t listen, it’s always the next thing, I’m unsettled and I overthink. BUT when you speak, I take the time to listen and settle for a while and I slow down - I can’t work out why, maybe your honesty, not sure. I don’t follow social media platforms so this is the only place I see content from you - Please come back and keep talking here Matthew
I felt the same way as you about having themes and things of comfort in my bedroom as an adult, but the psychotherapist explained it’s healthy to be ‘child-like’, and doesn’t mean I’m ‘child-ish’. I’ve learnt that often the outward signs of adulting, don’t bring any maturity - just man-child stuff. But this you already know

I’m so grateful that Matt is open enough on social media to talk about his anxiety and life off camera. I’ve dealt with so many personal issues and the amount of stuff Matt has gotten me through with just talking in front of a camera is outrageous. He’s such an amazing person and so relatable to the point where I’m now happy and not afraid to talk about my anxiety and how I’m doing mentally with my family and friends to help them understand. Matt makes me so much happier. I hope he knows that he can do whatever he’s comfortable with online, and whatever he likes doing on his channel is what we would love most. Love u Matt ❤
+ I love the idea of talking about what other people are going through because everyone goes through different things and it’s great to shine light on different issues, especially by using the platform you have 🙂

    1. The cabin room idea is honestly so creative and relatable at the same time, the whole going from having zero personality room to a safe space is exactly what I've been wanting to do, so seeing you do it was pretty motivational. Also, speaking as a 21 year old, i don't think the idea is cringe at all, i genuinely love your decorations, they're amazing. I'd suggest plants but that can be a lot of work, even the fake ones get dusty. I'm still deciding whether or not to have them in my room as well.
    2. The voiceover was also a really creative idea, i think it was cool and i think how you did it in this video was perfect, a talking to us video but with clips of the voiceover ones.

hey matt. this is an old video but i just want to say that im 26, and i only very recently just started buying shit that i Want. and i think it's really cool that you got to start decorating your room to emulate your safe space. i also think it is very important to start doing things for yourself first. it's a "lesson" that i still struggle with at my big age, but i want you to know that it is not corny at all to want to your room to be a space that you like staying at.
i once read something online that says "create a life for yourself that you dont have to escape from." and if making your room look like a log cabin is what you need to do to achieve that, then thats good! and if ever in the future you start feeling like the log cabin isnt working anymore, and you have to find a new thing that would make it feel safer for you, then thats okay as well. dont be afraid of changing your mind about certain decisions or choices. always do things that feel true to you. you dont have to prove anything to anyone else. and as long as youre not like actively and consciously trying to hurt people or others, then it's okay to be "selfish" and keep putting yourself at the top of your priority list!
oh also, i said that i just very recently started buying things that i want for me. but when i started doing that, my sister and i also started saying shit like we're buying things "for my mental health" and it doesnt even have to be very serious things. we say that a lot even when buying iced coffees when we're out for errands. i think life is too short to be taken too seriously everytime. live your life for you, and people that vibe with that will naturally gravitate towards you.
keep being you, matt! i hope the future is kind to you 🤗💓
