I just bought the Alesis Nitro Max Kit , and are they ever low no worries i found a Solution I bought 4 Piece's of 15 inches of Aluminum tubes to fit inside of each leg so that i could raise up a bit higher, it works Perfectly. 👍 here are is the inside tube diameter 1 1/4'' each at 15'' inches. also if you want to extend the Cymbal arms a little longer Aluminum outside diameter 3/4''👍
I feel like I’m pretty set on the max whenever it’s a financially viable decision, but it’s still nice to compare it to other options. Great video, very objective and lots of good information.
Great video man, this helped me heaps, I was on the verge of buying the old surge with the discount but with the new brains of the Nitro it’s a no brainer.
Thanks for the review. I have the original Surge. The Surge/Nitro module sounds are not great. Is the Nitro Max module compatible with the original Surge, and if so would you recommend swapping it?
Thanks for the great review. The Nitro MAX hasn’t been released officially here in Mexico yet but in pre order it is about the same as the Surge kit. 10,000 mx = £460. Just got In Amazon a Surge kit bundle (+headphones) at 10,800 mx. = £500. Should I keep it or wait for the Nitro Max?
Thanks for the comment, if it was me I would wait for the Nitro MAX, sounds are better, Bluetooth functionality is very useful and and the device mount built into the module makes life a lot easier. Hope that helps!
Great video, thanks. Really considering the max, after two years with the turbo. Do you know if it's possible to replace one of the max's toms with a dual zone if I would want two of those? Same for replacing one of the cymbals?
The Surge feels very solid, if you're planning on running VSTs with the kit and aren't bothered about Bluetooth or the device mount then the Surge will be the way to go for a more comfortable playing experience for sure.
Despite the better sounding module on the Nitro Max, would you say that picking up a new, open box Surge Mesh SE kit for around $125 (US) is a good deal? Or would it be better to save up for the Nitro Max @ $400?
One of these kits would be my first kit to start drumming with. I would be playing thru pc and vst's, so is the Max still a better option. Also thinking about the future when I hopefully get better, would the Surge be a better option thanks to additional features in the rims and cymbals. I already have Cubase which I'm hoping to run the kit through. Thanks so much in advance!
as for double petals, I think it's pretty cool that you can change the voice in your hi hat pedal and make it a 2nd bass drum pedal! double bass drum pedals out of the box so to speak!
im thinking about getting the surge SE i don’t really know which one to buy between the two since i’m an intermediate player i know the nitro max has a bluetooth feature but what do you recommend between the two ?
Hello, since I have the money, do you think it’s worth going for a Yamaha DTX432k instead of a nitro max? The nitro max looks really cheap and I really dislike its build quality
What about if I need one of them for a Studio and I will use it for record midi with some vst? Because in mexico I found the two at same price and I want that the drummers feels comfortable when they play, even if they usually play acoustic drums
Thanks for the comment, if you only want to use it through a DAW using a VST and don’t have a use for the Bluetooth or device stand on the module then the Surge offers a slightly more solid playing experience so may be the one you want to go for. I suggest trying them both out in a shop. Hope that helps and good luck!
Great analysis! I had the Nitro Mesh and sold it, the sounds just weren't usable. I have a Nitro Max and a Roland TD11KV, and I'll be honest the toms on the Max sound better, but the cymbals on the roland are a bit better. If the Max had just one or two more good crashes it would BE AWESOME, also if it had individual EQ for ea pad that would be the cherry on top, but that's not a feature for any kits at this price point. I don't like ANY of the toms on the Roland TD11KV, whereas the Max has a lot of very usable toms. You can hear my Max here: ruclips.net/video/FtopZM5uBCQ/видео.htmlsi=kccJET8maSPRMRC9

Thanks for making this video, this was the comparison I've been trying to find. Great details.
Wish they would have used a better rack for the MAX and also a bigger kick bass tower, that would've made it perfect
Great video man, this helped me heaps, I was on the verge of buying the old surge with the discount but with the new brains of the Nitro it’s a no brainer.
WOW the nitro max sounds amazing over the surge !!!!!!!
They're literally the same module?
Great comparison man thanks for posting this 👍
No problem, thanks for watching!
1:55 That is from Alesis being cheap on the ultra thin and stiff 22 gauge wire on the sensors.
Great video, nice concise comparison!

This is really helpful 😊
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent and informative
Can I use this new (Nitro Max) module with the old Surge Mesh Kit?
Does it work?

@@RhythmRoomMusicSchool Thank you so much.
how much bigger does the surge feel? I'm gonna be running vst's so i don't care much for the module but size an comfort is a big factor for me

Pedal, not petal. A petal is a part of a flower.
@@DrummerGrrrl mine are shaped like flower petals

With regard to the sensor positioning on the surge kick drum, is it possible to move the sensor higher up?

How does this compare to the Roland TD7 for beginner and mid-level players?
Those videos are coming soon!
Hi man love ur vids broda
Glad you like them!
Hi, can you help me with this question? Is the Nitro Max Kick Pad compatible with the Tama Speed Cobra?
Yes
Any idea if Alesis has plans to upgrade the module on Surge ?
It wouldn't surprise me if we get a new Surge kit very soon.
I'm leaning towards the surge because of the kick drum and sturdy rack. If you play metal that nitromax kick is going to be garbage.
Works fine for me
Great analysis!

The lack of Midi in and out is a killer for me, I think the Surge Mesh is still a better choise
hi, i play metal and was wondering if the nitro max can be set up with a double bass pedal
Hi, this is covered at 11:55 in this video.
