Well not all atheists are what I would call "more intelligent" as some believe some truly stupid bullshit. I would say that as a rule atheists have considered religions more seriously than theists have and done more due diligence which makes them more inquisitive about that subject. Atheists that also embrace humanism are likely to be the ones who have evolved their thinking to encompass the whole of reality and become informed enough to care about all of humanity and the planet we live on including the future even after we are gone.

Apparently I need to clarify my comment. Atheists, as a group, are superior to any group of theists. Just as reality and truth, must always trump fairytales and lies.
