She looks fidgety, triggered and embarrassed in some way to have to relive and talk about a place in her life and career that feels so beneath all she has achieved.. and I think in her mind.. she still kinda stuck in how her a house hold name could be made a fool. And have those videos living forever in the internet .. as she said the things that weren't approved they later found out we're published to the website. So she must look at this phase of her live with so much embarrassement and guilt
I don’t think it’s guilt- I think it’s shame. While they are very similar, Guilt implies she did something wrong- she didn’t. She was underaged talent being manipulated and instructed to act these things out. She feels shame that people can still watch that

I dont think she’s disassociating. She doesn’t want to get into any legal trouble and she doesn’t want to step on the toes of any costars. She regrets what happened but can’t change the past and some of her own actions and is still processing the trauma of it, but her many connections also helped her get to where she is today. It’s not just about dan schneider (who is a disgusting person) but the people who worked with him.

In 2013 I was on the X factor for singing, it was a duet with my boyfriend at the time. I was 17 at the time, and my boyfriend was 18. Production was ADAMANT that I had a parent with me at all times. Even though I was barely underage, and my boyfriend was of legal age. So my mother was standing just off stage, and remained with me every moment I wasn’t on stage. I remember being annoyed with how strict they were on the protocol at the time. Now, I’m so incredibly grateful for my experience. Major props to X Factor and Simon Cowell for thoroughly enforcing that protocol.

I wonder if it really was her decision... we know Nickelodeon offered Jennette McCurdy $300,000 to never talk about what she experienced, and she turned it down so she could say whatever she wanted. I just think these past 10 years she hasn't had time to process a lot of things because things were happening to her one after the other. And she doesn't necessarily need to process it either (at least, publicly), as being able to come to terms with what happened won't necessarily do any proper good for her, individually. Idk, she definitely could've taken hush money, but I don't think she did.

She is very precautious the way she speaks. Obviously she knows it’s a no win situation. If she says she had no issue with them then it’s wrong because she is not speaking on the other actors behalf and feeling for them but if she says she had a traumatic experience she automatically suffered so it’s definitely a no win situation and we don’t want that for her. I think she is not the bad guy there so I’d show her some grace and we don’t know if she has ever reached out privately.
the fact that y'all are belittling her trauma is weird when it's clear she looks uncomfortable talking about it. she is reprocessing her trauma, and that isn't an easy thing to do considering that she might've 1) blocked those memories out and is trying to remember them & 2) she was so young when the show was in production so she has to work harder to reprocess what she thought was normal...it's HER trauma so she doesn't even need to talk ab it if she doesn't want to. stop forcing literal victims to speak up when they're still in the process of healing from it...

If she said so as a teenager, I would like to add that teenagers don't always truly know the dangers of situations, especially if her mother wasn't allowed on set, and other adults told her it was all perfectly fine. And even if she said so as an adult, it still could have been traumatizing. She can be uncomfortable and embarassed while having gone through trauma. Not everyone deals with and shows their trauma the same way, which makes it such a hard thing to judge unless you have been in the exact same situation. Revealing how you truly feel, and everything you possibly have been through can be really scary. People don't want to relive their bad memories, or be known for them.
The fact that their parents watched (or worse, not watched) their episodes didn't see an issue and complained baffles me a lot more. Sadly, she's giving her opinion without even realizing she was also abused, shes so disassociated. My son was an adult when he went to a doctor without me. I most definitely wpuld not had allowed to work on Tv with my presence 100% of the time
In the documentary, it showed that at least some of the parents did see those episodes and complained about them, and their kids got fired. At that age, the kid isn't going to understand the nuances of what actually happened, just like they didn't understand what was happening on the show, and in some of these cases, the kid was the breadwinner. Most other parents wouldn't have seen any good options, between risking their relationship with their child or the paycheck. Unfortunately, it's just not that cut and dry.
It was traumatic for everyone. People need to stop saying she’s “being too careful”. There is no such thing. This is an awful subject and expecting anyone talking about it to not be “careful” is disgusting and unrealistic. This is not easy to talk about. This is not easy to come to terms with. This is not easy to have experienced. She has trauma, too.

Doubtful. Given how outspoken Miley and Demi are, accusations of sexual and verbal abuse would’ve already been made by now. Disney’s issues seem to stem from child stars being heavily monitored to safeguard their family friendly image (which has its own set of issues akin to extremely religious families) but not quite on the same level as Nickelodeon.
I feel so terrible for the things they went through. Victorious is a show I have loved so much, and that’s because of the cast. This cast is actually my favorite cast ever so I got attached to their characters. I thought the show was funny (except the weird feet things). To think a show that impacted so many people’s childhoods was a traumatic experience for these actors makes me so sad. Dan made most people’s favorite Nickelodeon shows from their childhood and the actors worked so hard and entertained so many people, yet they had to go through hell to do that. I want these actors to know how much we appreciate them and their performance on the show. I’m glad they at least had each other and made long lasting friendships during that time of their lives. Not just on Victorious, but tons of other sets and producers made actors uncomfortable and it all just needs to be made safer, and people need to get punished for what they’ve done. I love this cast so much, they’re so talented and amazing at what they do, and they played their characters on Victorious so well. I wish them healing as well as anyone else who went through trauma in their life.

She could've assumed it's going to be a safe environment for kids. She even says later that her mom was more involved in the end. I agree that on its own “no parents” tends to be the norm for schools, extracurriculars, etc. and it was an established kids network of 20 years. So it’s not surprising some of the parents trusted the situation more than they should’ve retrospectively. Of course the fact that the minors were working and being paid should’ve meant their parents should’ve been allowed to be fully present (as it wasn’t “just” school/extracurriculars) as long as they weren’t interfering, and if they were maybe a live camera to a sitting room for the parents could’ve worked. Idk, regardless I’m sure many of the parents are looking back and feeling guilty for not protecting their kids more and ultimately the onus was on the adults behaving inappropriately and harming them to not have done those things.
Child stars and influencer kids need more protection, and this is not up for debate. I feel sorry for any child who has had to go through these experiences. If any production doesn't allow you to be on set, then don't involve your child.
What does she have to lose other than connections? A lot of jurisdictions provide legal protections for whistleblowers, especially when disclosing illegal or unethical activities. It's also not like she's poor and doesn't have money sooo...

NDAS don’t apply when you’ve witness a crime anyway. They are null and void when that happens. But at the same time the victims have to decide themselves how much and how in depth they want to go with their own trauma.
Ndas are null and void if a crime is committed to the person who signed it. So if someone sexually assaults rapes abuses you etc you are allowes to speak up and alot of people don't realize this.

I am glad she spoke up. Some people on here are expecting a perfect reaction. I applaud her for coming forward and speaking her mind because she was one the victims. She is right, the adults were responsible and they were minors and they had to do the things because they were doing something different. She did reflect and said her piece. I hope that she continues to heal. It must be hard for her to go through this again and relive the trauma each time she is being tagged on these shows on social media.

I can tell Ariana is careful with her words, and there are moments where she self sooth which could mean some dark uncomfortable moments that she'd rather not go back to.
Both Drake and Ariana spoke very vaguely when asked to recall certain memories. Like their brains stopped functioning, no matter how long it's been. I don't think she was necessarily being careful, I think her brain just plain out suppressed as she was thinking about it.

When i watched Quiet on set I was more disappointed with the parents than anyone else. In real basic terms, most of those parents chose money over their children. The fact that they were illegally working the kids overtime says enough. And the parents sat outside, not monitoring their children and told them to continue working and just waited. While some of those children were actively being abused. Its sickening and i would like to see a society that punished parents harshly for these outcomes as well.
Pretty sure Ariana actually spoke up about her experiences with Dan, or what other people were going through during her time working with Nickelodeon, as the original Podcast clip was cut, so a small portion was edited out. She then just proceeds to say that she was very devastated for everyone else who has pretty much been a victim. I think it’s great that she finally had an opportunity to speak to people about the situation, even if she chose for that information to remain private from the public.
What does that have to do with anything? Ariana was at an age where she didnt comprehend the trauma Dan and the other adults put her through. There is a reason why Ariana has gone into therapy for a decade now. She is the kind of person who becomes very sensitive when talking about her own trauma. She is always on the verge of tears when trying to talk about the Manchester attack, since it has affected her greatly. Sometimes we gotta accept that people can't speak about their trauma as easily as others.

remember when ariana grande was still playing cat valentine around 2016 and kept doing it just cuz the money was good, even though she said she outgrew the role? i love her music, but some of her actions are questionable. she was co-stars with jennette mccurdy on sam & cat and supposedly close friends with her, even though jennette was being mistreated and abused by nickelodeon execs. when jennette’s memoir came out exposing everything, ariana never publicly showed support or acknowledged what jennette went through, which rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. she was also heavily sexualized on the slap… so i don’t know how she can still follow and support dan after everything..

Me being a survivor of SA as a child, teen and grown adult woman, it’s very hard to speak about the things that happened to you and I can’t imagine publicly speaking about something so sensitive to a world of people. It should not be weird that she’s “holding back” like let’s BFR
I worked in the theatre and film industry in germany and stuff like this is beyond all imagination here. If Children are involved, the guidelines are next level, as they are anyways in germany😂 It is basically the same in film and theatre: If there is at least one child involved - you have to contact the booking agencys (which are super strict and in doubt always on side of the child), you can not contact child or parents directly - while the child is working, there is ALWAYS at least one childrens-safety-responsible-person always in seeing and hearing distance - child is not allowed on stage or on set after a certain time (i think it was 8pm or 10pm, I don‘t remember) - the costume fittings are only allowed together with one parent and the childs-safety-person. The person from Art/Costume department must be female. I remember in theatre, there was a costume fitting for a few Kids from a Kids-choir and the costume Designer wasn‘t allowed in one single fitting, I did them all because I was his assistance at that time - If one or both parents want to stay the whole time, they stay the whole time. It is out of question. - If you are going to do scenes that could be traumatising, even if it‘s just acted, there HAS TO BE also a childs psychologist as well - child has always the last word about things they aren‘t comfortable with - you always Train/Act the same scene/play with two diffrent children, so they can be stand-ins/replacement for the other child. Anyways, it sounds strict but it it is the only right and fair way and from what I experienced it is the most fun to work with them, because the Kids are just so funny and random most of the time, it is refreshing work area

I dont think she’s disassociating. She doesn’t want to get into any legal trouble and she doesn’t want to step on the toes of any costars. She regrets what happened but can’t change the past and some of her own actions and is still processing the trauma of it, but her many connections also helped her get to where she is today. It’s not just about dan schneider (who is a disgusting person) but the people who worked with him.

In 2013 I was on the X factor for singing, it was a duet with my boyfriend at the time. I was 17 at the time, and my boyfriend was 18. Production was ADAMANT that I had a parent with me at all times. Even though I was barely underage, and my boyfriend was of legal age. So my mother was standing just off stage, and remained with me every moment I wasn’t on stage. I remember being annoyed with how strict they were on the protocol at the time. Now, I’m so incredibly grateful for my experience. Major props to X Factor and Simon Cowell for thoroughly enforcing that protocol.

I just think these past 10 years she hasn't had time to process a lot of things because things were happening to her one after the other. She is very precautious the way she speaks. Obviously she knows it’s a no win situation. If she says she had no issue with them then it’s wrong because she is not speaking on the other actors behalf and feeling for them but if she says she had a traumatic experience she automatically suffered so it’s definitely a no win situation and we don’t want that for her. I think she is not the bad guy there so I’d show her some grace and we don’t know if she has ever reached out privately.

the fact that y'all are belittling her trauma is weird when it's clear she looks uncomfortable talking about it. she is reprocessing her trauma, and that isn't an easy thing to do considering that she might've 1) blocked those memories out and is trying to remember them & 2) she was so young when the show was in production so she has to work harder to reprocess what she thought was normal...it's HER trauma so she doesn't even need to talk ab it if she doesn't want to. stop forcing literal victims to speak up when they're still in the process of healing from it...

If she said so as a teenager, I would like to add that teenagers don't always truly know the dangers of situations, especially if her mother wasn't allowed on set, and other adults told her it was all perfectly fine. And even if she said so as an adult, it still could have been traumatizing. She can be uncomfortable and embarassed while having gone through trauma. Not everyone deals with and shows their trauma the same way, which makes it such a hard thing to judge unless you have been in the exact same situation. Revealing how you truly feel, and everything you possibly have been through can be really scary. People don't want to relive their bad memories, or be known for them.

The fact that their parents watched (or worse, not watched) their episodes didn't see an issue and complained baffles me a lot more. Sadly, she's giving her opinion without even realizing she was also abused, shes so disassociated. My son was an adult when he went to a doctor without me. I most definitely wpuld not had allowed to work on Tv with my presence 100% of the time
In the documentary, it showed that at least some of the parents did see those episodes and complained about them, and their kids got fired. At that age, the kid isn't going to understand the nuances of what actually happened, just like they didn't understand what was happening on the show, and in some of these cases, the kid was the breadwinner. Most other parents wouldn't have seen any good options, between risking their relationship with their child or the paycheck. Unfortunately, it's just not that cut and dry.
It was traumatic for everyone. People need to stop saying she’s “being too careful”. There is no such thing. This is an awful subject and expecting anyone talking about it to not be “careful” is disgusting and unrealistic. This is not easy to talk about. This is not easy to come to terms with. This is not easy to have experienced. She has trauma, too.
Also as she said she's now realizising and processing what she and her colleagues did. Now we also know due to the documentary that those "adults" who had to approve it were also treated like 💩 so it was a egg shell dance all around.

Doubtful. Given how outspoken Miley and Demi are, accusations of sexual and verbal abuse would’ve already been made by now. Disney’s issues seem to stem from child stars being heavily monitored to safeguard their family friendly image (which has its own set of issues akin to extremely religious families) but not quite on the same level as Nickelodeon.

I feel so terrible for the things they went through. Victorious is a show I have loved so much, and that’s because of the cast. This cast is actually my favorite cast ever so I got attached to their characters. I thought the show was funny (except the weird feet things). To think a show that impacted so many people’s childhoods was a traumatic experience for these actors makes me so sad. Dan made most people’s favorite Nickelodeon shows from their childhood and the actors worked so hard and entertained so many people, yet they had to go through hell to do that. I want these actors to know how much we appreciate them and their performance on the show. I’m glad they at least had each other and made long lasting friendships during that time of their lives.
Not just on Victorious, but tons of other sets and producers made actors uncomfortable and it all just needs to be made safer, and people need to get punished for what they’ve done.
I love this cast so much, they’re so talented and amazing at what they do, and they played their characters on Victorious so well. I wish them healing as well as anyone else who went through trauma in their life.

I agree that on its own “no parents” tends to be the norm for schools, extracurriculars, etc. and it was an established kids network of 20 years. So it’s not surprising some of the parents trusted the situation more than they should’ve retrospectively.
Of course the fact that the minors were working and being paid should’ve meant their parents should’ve been allowed to be fully present (as it wasn’t “just” school/extracurriculars) as long as they weren’t interfering, and if they were maybe a live camera to a sitting room for the parents could’ve worked. Idk, regardless I’m sure many of the parents are looking back and feeling guilty for not protecting their kids more and ultimately the onus was on the adults behaving inappropriately and harming them to not have done those things.

I can tell Ariana is careful with her words, and there are moments where she self sooth which could mean some dark uncomfortable moments that she'd rather not go back to.
Both Drake and Ariana spoke very vaguely when asked to recall certain memories. Like their brains stopped functioning, no matter how long it's been. I don't think she was necessarily being careful, I think her brain just plain out suppressed as she was thinking about it.

There are so many scenes that stuck out to me as weird when I was a kid, and even more so as an adult in the TV shows, Victorious and Sam and Cat.
When i watched Quiet on set I was more disappointed with the parents than anyone else. In real basic terms, most of those parents chose money over their children. The fact that they were illegally working the kids overtime says enough. And the parents sat outside, not monitoring their children and told them to continue working and just waited. While some of those children were actively being abused. Its sickening and i would like to see a society that punished parents harshly for these outcomes as well.

Pretty sure Ariana actually spoke up about her experiences with Dan, or what other people were going through during her time working with Nickelodeon, as the original Podcast clip was cut, so a small portion was edited out. She then just proceeds to say that she was very devastated for everyone else who has pretty much been a victim. I think it’s great that she finally had an opportunity to speak to people about the situation, even if she chose for that information to remain private from the public.

I worked in the theatre and film industry in germany and stuff like this is beyond all imagination here. If Children are involved, the guidelines are next level, as they are anyways in germany😂
It is basically the same in film and theatre:
If there is at least one child involved
- you have to contact the booking agencys (which are super strict and in doubt always on side of the child), you can not contact child or parents directly
- while the child is working, there is ALWAYS at least one childrens-safety-responsible-person always in seeing and hearing distance
- child is not allowed on stage or on set after a certain time (i think it was 8pm or 10pm, I don‘t remember)
- the costume fittings are only allowed together with one parent and the childs-safety-person. The person from Art/Costume department must be female. I remember in theatre, there was a costume fitting for a few Kids from a Kids-choir and the costume Designer wasn‘t allowed in one single fitting, I did them all because I was his assistance at that time
- If one or both parents want to stay the whole time, they stay the whole time. It is out of question.
- If you are going to do scenes that could be traumatising, even if it‘s just acted, there HAS TO BE also a childs psychologist as well
- child has always the last word about things they aren‘t comfortable with
- you always Train/Act the same scene/play with two diffrent children, so they can be stand-ins/replacement for the other child.
Anyways, it sounds strict but it it is the only right and fair way and from what I experienced it is the most fun to work with them, because the Kids are just so funny and random most of the time, it is refreshing work area

This is just so freakin sad and heartbreaking to see any child star celebrities who had suffered in through with their own mental health issues because they were so afraid of being to scared of coming out with their own truth and exposing their own experiences in their own lives of suffering with a lot of emotional trauma that they all had been through in their own lives

i am convinced she signed a non disclosure agreement with nickelodeon, same as the one that Jeanette was offered. i feel bad honestly. regardless of how i feel about her as a person, she was clearly manipulated at an age when she was particularly vulnerable and you can tell she hasnt fully processed it.
here's a new take on it y'all, some people have 'victim' mentality and some people have a 'change' mentality. im not saying i know ariana grande (NONE of us do. dont forget that fact) but to me it looks like instead of feeling like a victim and blaming her abusers, she thinks about how it could have been prevented or what couldve been done to better the situation and come out healthier and i dont see anything wrong with that way of thinking.
