The relationship breakdown between Bumseok and Suho was so bad, but so well written. Suho didn't mean him ill at all, but Bumseok couldn't see that he was not looking down on him and was treating him the same as Sieun (i.e. not wanting either of them to cross that excessive violence line), so he saw it as Suho asserting dominance and using him (letting Bumseok buy them all drinks, but not following him back and so on). And on top of that he resented Suho for being strong, outgoing, likeable, etc. Everything he isn't. Sieun didn't seem threatening to him in the same way because he had been targeted before too and because Sieun is content to let the cheerful extraverted Suho take the lead.
He's traumatized, pure and simple. Powerless and lonely, abused by his father, with no meaningful relationships because he's adopted, so even his family isn't there for him. He's an accessory to his father, like watches Bumseok stole, except even less valuable and more of a liability at this point. He can't escape it, thus he becomes a victim of his own insecurities.
I think the addition of the girl in their group dynamic worried Beomseok, because when it was just the three of them, Suho is extroverted and Sieun is EXTREMELY introverted, so Beomseok was comfortably in the middle and maybe acted a little more extroverted compared to Sieun. But with the introduction of the girl, she's extroverted as well! So she takes up a lot of space and gets along well with Suho. And despite being introverted and quite, Sieun is more okay with being alone than Beomseok (who's pretty lonely) also Sieun is pretty intriguing/interesting. So he's fine with not saying much, and the girl and Suho still pay attention to him if he doesn't. Suho does pay attention to Beomseok, but the girl doesn't know him (and he doesn't make an effort to try to know her) so that probably makes Beomseok feel left out. And Sieun cares for him as well, but he's really quiet and doesn't really display affection, so Beomseok might not notice it.
exactly especially in trios. that’s why trio friends groups usually never work unfortunately because someone will always feel like they’re being left out
Glasses guy’s problem seems to be that he wants a lot of power and visible appreciation and that’s hard to do when he’s the “weak little brother” of the group, which is why he ends up preferring the enabling opportunists
And the type of power that's available to him is something that drives him to be/act even worse - he can't have the power that he craves, the kind that Suho has because of his strong physicality and strong character, so he resents Suho for it and also resents himself. But he CAN have the power that his dad has - and it's money and reputation and putting down those that are weaker than you, hitting someone who can't fight back - and of course once he ends up relying on that, he recognizes how low and despicable it is and it only makes him more frustrated and resentful. He wants something real, affection and respect and recognition, but he's only able to elevate himself with his dad's money, so he still feels weak.
Bum Seok is a really tragic character tbh, people hate him while completely overlooking the dad and the bullies who turned him into that monster. How can you expect him to act reasonable when he was an orphan bought for publicity, while being regularly abused at home and treated as trash/lesser compared to the Assemblyman's other kids? And even School wasn't/isn't an escape for him.

I don't want to go into spoilery territory (even if Roshi and Sheera already finished the show, there might be others who haven't), but that includes Sieun and Suho too, they have their blind spots and what ends up happening happens in part because of their choices and poor communication. Back to Bumseok, I don't agree with the claim that he was "turned into a monster" by other people. He suffered abuse that he 100% didn't deserve and you can understand why it shaped his character the way it did, but what he chose to internalize and his desires and values and neuroses (the desire to be recognized, to have power in social situations, the idea that someone who's stronger is looking down on him because he's physically weaker, paranoia, not being able to recognize affection) - all of these things are his own. Yes, he is the way he is because of the abuse he suffered, but it even shows that other people respond differently in the same situation, so while we can emphatize with Bumseok, understanding someone doesn't mean absolving them of responsibility for their actions or denying their agency. It's not that he wasn't "reasonable", it's that he chose the worst side of himself and let himself act like a bully and a coward.

I really appreciate the side by side discussion between the two of you at the end over Bumseok bcz his character is definitely more than just “oh, all that over an instagram follow?!??” and i hate when that’s what people make it out to be. On one hand, you can understand why Bumseok is frustrated; when Suho stopped Sieun in EP2, it wasn’t till after he hit the bully a good couple of times w/ the book and asserted his dominance, however, Suho didn’t even give Bumseok the CHANCE to stand up for himself and in the end that could’ve gotten him beaten up even worse if the other bullies hadnt appeared. Then, on top of that, he keeps putting his arm around him even after he told him multiple times not to and while to yall it might seem like he’s just throwing a fit, the whole argument he had w/ suho affirms the fact that it’s bcz he’s reminded of how his past bullies put their arms around him and order him around pretending to be friendly (youngbin also did this to Sieun and Bumseok at the vending machine in EP1). On the other hand, you can tell that Suho and Sieun are trying their best to help Bumseok out and it’s not their fault that he doesn’t feel confident enough in their friendship to explain his problems, this is the first time hes ever had proper friends.
right OH MY GOD i cant stand people who say "its all bc of instagram", even as a joke. that's just one of the many cherries on top of the cake. the tip of the iceberg. this show got layers.
Bum Seoks character is really tragic and something else honestly. But the 180 change is too much. The last 3 eps you all are in for a WILD RIDE lmao. Have fun
For me, one of the more powerful moments of this show when he was slapped by a thug and dropped his glasses. It's like he loses his mask and everything bad comes to the surface.
You defending Bum Seok at the beginning of the episode made me laugh, I also tried to defend him at the beginning, I'm looking forward to the next reactions!!
so i am gonna say what i understood with beom seok's change....when that guy told hiim to hit gil su he couldn't and gil su said 'hit me like your friends did...can't you?' which could have made him feel mocked like 'your friends are capable of that but you hang around them to look all cool' and also earlier when he followed suho he was about to text him to folllow him as well but maybe he felt like he shouldn't and then suho didn't follow him back on his own either but then he noticed that suho did follow back that girl whatever her name was...apparently he elt kinda left out since he saw that this random girl who just appeared now is getting more attention than me whose been there with'em also the post he saw might have made him feel like when did they spend so much time together without me so do they even think of me as friend or just someone who hangs around with them on his own
It's crazy how relatable that is. Not talking about Bumseok, but for every person, especially at school. Feeling left out and paying attention to the most insignificant things, that could be that way for someone else, but are really important for you. I don't think a guy like Suho meant anything bad not following him back, at least that's how I see that, but in Bum Seok's perspective is a sign that Suho doesn't care about him and doesn't regard him as a friend. Bum Seok is really a time bomb ready to explode at any moment.
@@laurajanco2i yes, also most of the reacters are adultand they fail to realise this since mst of them feel like 'that's such a shallow reason to be like this that's so stupid' they fail to see that from a teenagers perspective....me being a teenager myself can totally see where bumseok was coming from although that doesn't justify his later actions
@@leeknowsnothing I'm an adult too, still young mind you, so I remember vividly how I used to feel sometimes during highschool. People can develop serious issues if that state of mind becomes harder to handle.
did u also notice how his glasses came off the moment he started going down the wrong path? and that he started wearing darker clothing? the visual storytelling in this drama is so good.
To be fair, if the only interaction I had with my friends was "are you ok", "how are you feeling", "let me help you", "do you need anything", I'd think theyre looking down on me too.
The way the girl dragged sohoo off to the table so bro could pay the bill was crazy to me too 💀 it’s cuz the gangster at the police station said his friends are strong and capable and he’s just a little b they use for money. It prob stuck to him
I think bum seok should have had a little more backup from his friends even if it went to them looking like bullies. Or some other way to help him that wasn't just an apology. Tbh it's hard because Bumseok at the end of the day chose his path.. but he really did have it bad. I think if the friendship wasn't so new things might have been different.
I don't think bum seok just wants to be "equal", for me its like he wants to be popular and/or for people to need him. He's the one always offering to pay for people and all his solutions to any situation are money related. Also you can see the difference between him and the other two went asked about beating bad guys, Suho and Sieun are like let rumors be rumors but Bum Seok does take the credit.
He desperately wants to be accepted. It's a survival mechanism. The only way to avoid getting bullied is to join a group of people that can protect him, and he'll do anything for it.
I don’t think he “wants to be popular” I think he NEEDS validation, seeing the environment he lives in, I can tell you he doesn’t get enough of anything at home so he wants to be someone to someone
The sad thing is if bum seok took time to properly articulate his issues instead of internalizing and redirecting the issues he’s personally going through on his true friend nothing would have escalated the way it did.
Honestly I feel for being seok, I can’t forgive him, but I feel for him, like honestly if we were in the same position I would be a complete bitch, I’d be the villain to EVERYONES story 😭

I saw that some other RUclips reactors I subscribed to reacted to that movie I didn’t watch the video bc I didn’t know what it was but if it’s anything like this I think it’ll be awesome
It's not hard at all. It doesn't matter how evil a person in the future becomes, it doesn't mean they deserved all the things they went through in the past and can feel sorry and empathize with their pasts. Though in this case, it is even more tragic. If Bum was the MC, most people wouldn't be as hard towards him, especially if he was an older man with a deeper voice. Bum is nowhere near as bad as Walter White or as the Joker, but they don't get as much hate.

ok so to explain the situation with Bum Seok- when he was laying on the bed on Instagram checking out the photos, he was mad because he followed Su Ho and he didn't follow him back or respond to his follow, but that girl that they just met that was with that other crew was immediately followed on Instagram by su ho, and so he became mad and jealous. But it seems like ya'll kinda figured it out. He felt like an outcast and a loser. Also those guys that were looking for bum soek, was former bullies from his old school that he transferred from if memory serves me correct. Also- I thought bum soek was initially gay or in love with su ho, but the love wasn't recipricated and su ho was straight, and bum seok, knew he could never tell su ho how he felt because it would ruin their friendship, but I think he was just a loner and never felt accepted until he was in their group, but still felt like he was being treated like crap or left out by su ho. Just my thoughts.

i haven't seen the full episode but did the girl YoungYi invite herself to their get-together or did Suho or Sieun invite her? Because i'd be bummed too if i offered to treat my friends to some meals and karaoke and a stranger tags along, who shamelessly expects to get treated to free stuff, and treats me like a waiter or an invisible cash machine. even if Bumseok seemed unapproachable and introverted, Sieun was too-so why isn't she being her brash assertive self and try reaching out first? she's clearly not shy so why not try to get to know him so he won't feel left out? is it because he seems boring therefore not worth her friendship? i'm not saying it's her fault that a rift is forming in the group because people are free to be selectively friendly, but i get why this put Bumseok in a bad mood. it does feel terrible to have someone who dislikes you that you start disliking in return be friends to your friends, because what can you do if this person is nice to them but not to you?

Then, on top of that, he keeps putting his arm around him even after he told him multiple times not to and while to yall it might seem like he’s just throwing a fit, the whole argument he had w/ suho affirms the fact that it’s bcz he’s reminded of how his past bullies put their arms around him and order him around pretending to be friendly (youngbin also did this to Sieun and Bumseok at the vending machine in EP1). On the other hand, you can tell that Suho and Sieun are trying their best to help Bumseok out and it’s not their fault that he doesn’t feel confident enough in their friendship to explain his problems, this is the first time hes ever had proper friends.
thank you someone who gets it
right OH MY GOD i cant stand people who say "its all bc of instagram", even as a joke. that's just one of the many cherries on top of the cake. the tip of the iceberg. this show got layers.
Bum Seoks character is really tragic and something else honestly. But the 180 change is too much. The last 3 eps you all are in for a WILD RIDE lmao. Have fun
They are already done with the season, they know...
@mubarezahmad8662 kay ....
For me, one of the more powerful moments of this show when he was slapped by a thug and dropped his glasses. It's like he loses his mask and everything bad comes to the surface.
You defending Bum Seok at the beginning of the episode made me laugh, I also tried to defend him at the beginning, I'm looking forward to the next reactions!!
right
so i am gonna say what i understood with beom seok's change....when that guy told hiim to hit gil su he couldn't and gil su said 'hit me like your friends did...can't you?' which could have made him feel mocked like 'your friends are capable of that but you hang around them to look all cool' and also earlier when he followed suho he was about to text him to folllow him as well but maybe he felt like he shouldn't and then suho didn't follow him back on his own either but then he noticed that suho did follow back that girl whatever her name was...apparently he elt kinda left out since he saw that this random girl who just appeared now is getting more attention than me whose been there with'em also the post he saw might have made him feel like when did they spend so much time together without me so do they even think of me as friend or just someone who hangs around with them on his own
It's crazy how relatable that is.
Even now that I'm studying and working part time, I feel that kind of insecurity and sometimes jealousy.
The reasons are there and they aren't stupid or to be taken lightly. People can develop serious issues if that state of mind becomes harder to handle.
Yeah I 100% agree with this
Yeah I 100% agree with this
Roshi’s tatt been glistening these past few days ✨😅love the art work
I didn't even notice the soda can thing, that was a nice detail
Wow i didn't even noticed about the Soda, clever directing 👏
did u also notice how his glasses came off the moment he started going down the wrong path? and that he started wearing darker clothing? the visual storytelling in this drama is so good.
"Let's see how this goes."
Oh, it goes.
It prob stuck to him
Bum Seok with and without glasses are different persona.
the glasses came off and he started wearing darker clothes...such subtle changes but impactful ones. like this is how you write a screenplay!
Honestly I feel for being seok, I can’t forgive him, but I feel for him, like honestly if we were in the same position I would be a complete bitch, I’d be the villain to EVERYONES story 😭
real !!! you can feel for him without justifying what he did, and also love/feel bad for suho at the same time because things are not so black and white. they all deserved better.
You guys might do "Ballerina" movie. A literal badass. That has a similar vibes as this series
I saw that some other RUclips reactors I subscribed to reacted to that movie I didn’t watch the video bc I didn’t know what it was but if it’s anything like this I think it’ll be awesome
Boys with daddy issues the show, I feel bad for him but damn he's really making hard to feel sorry for him
Because he's a man is the reason is the why you feel it's hard to feel sorry for him
It's not hard at all.
@@lunavioleta001 I feel bad for him and he's just a victim in the end his father is the real ahole but I can't feel that bad for him cause he decided to pour his anger on the wrong person
@@kikikim4589 So you don't feel bad when a child get abused or violated? Does that kid deserve to be if that kid grows up to do something bad in the future? That isn't empathy though. You can sympathize and empathize and feel sad for a child, but agree that the person would still deserve the appropriate consequences for what they did.
It's so messed up to me that they rather want people, including kids, to die instead wishing they get mental health and hope for them to change and become a better person. And no, this is not freedom from consequences.
@@lunavioleta001 by that logic all abused kids grow up to be murder and f other people lives ?? so just because his father abused him that got him a free pass to do what he wants ,so what he did to suho is okay because oh too bad his Dad abused him it's not his fault, if you know Korean culture or lived there you'd know how it's Taboo to talk about that ( parents abuse) and seek mental help , now I don't understand what you're trying to see with this whole thing
I recommend y’all react to Mouse like it’s a masterpiece that will have you shook
re: phone answering social boundaries, didn't they say it KEPT ringing? I wouldn't like it but I'd probably find it reasonable for somebody to answer my phone if it was over and over, just to make sure it wasn't an emergency
this series had me yelling at my computer screen because of how frustrated i get from bumseok
Yooo I see you with that new tattoo you better give us a little look next reaction !!!!!

@gino9379 Yeah 🤣. I don’t remember too much about the backstory in the Webtoon (except for how it ends) but I remember absolutely despising Bum Seok and thinking that he had absolutely no redeeming qualities. I do like the K-Drama version a lot though
We need the JJK reaction
My guy really said "bros before holes" 😂
ok so to explain the situation with Bum Seok- when he was laying on the bed on Instagram checking out the photos, he was mad because he followed Su Ho and he didn't follow him back or respond to his follow, but that girl that they just met that was with that other crew was immediately followed on Instagram by su ho, and so he became mad and jealous.
6:22 Lupa would say that
We need Ep 4 of Invincible IMMEDIATELY!

Season 2 can’t come out soon enough. I just finished the manhwa few days ago. It was so good.

Do I feel Sympathy for him? Yes.
Do I wish he could've had a better life? Yes.
Do I like him? Hell No.
Will I forgive him? Hell No.
And do I think he deserves all the slander he gets? Hell YES.
People ALWAYS be so heated when other people have the sense to NOT like Beomseok, always talking about "Y'all don't get him, y'all don't have sympathy".
Well NEWSFLASH you can have sympathy for someone, you can feel sorry for someone but STILL not like them. It reminds me of freaking Nayeon from All of Us Are Dead (Pink Sweater Chick) So, MANY people were hating on me because I freaking hate her ass, and SO many people were trying to come up with excuses for what she did. Like nah, I can't trust people who try to defend people like Nayeon and Beomseok bro.
I get it, but it’s funny how it’s the opposite for me, like how I like the pink sweater girl and how I like Beom seok, I don’t dislike them, I just can’t ever forgive them for what they did

JJK?
i lowkey feel like Bumseok is in love with Suho 👀 👀
I don’t think so, he literally killed soo ho
sigh… here we go
Did you guys checked out korean drama "iris"?
i haven't seen the full episode but did the girl YoungYi invite herself to their get-together or did Suho or Sieun invite her? Because i'd be bummed too if i offered to treat my friends to some meals and karaoke and a stranger tags along, who shamelessly expects to get treated to free stuff, and treats me like a waiter or an invisible cash machine. even if Bumseok seemed unapproachable and introverted, Sieun was too-so why isn't she being her brash assertive self and try reaching out first? she's clearly not shy so why not try to get to know him so he won't feel left out? is it because he seems boring therefore not worth her friendship? i'm not saying it's her fault that a rift is forming in the group because people are free to be selectively friendly, but i get why this put Bumseok in a bad mood. it does feel terrible to have someone who dislikes you that you start disliking in return be friends to your friends, because what can you do if this person is nice to them but not to you?
the witcher season 3 when ? 🤨🤔
and it satarts
Bum Seok had every resource available to him to learn som sort of combat & he chose not to and sulk smh

"Bum suck" 😂
YOU GUYS this fvcking show its about to get deep you better prepare yourselfs
Here comes more of the hypocrisy. Bum is no where near as bad as Joker, Loki Killmonger, Thanos, or Walter White, and they are adults, but they didn't get as much hate. They even get more sympathy.
fr
Deadass, there's a whole episode dedicated to why Bum Seok descended into that chaotic spiral and they decide to ignore it. He's a fucking kid who's been through way too much, cut him some slack.
@@calliastah4115 Funny how many them love Loki. Loki, the guy that tried to take over the world and was responsible for many deaths and suffering.
@@calliastah4115 "Cut him some slack", bro I feel sympathy for him, but saying "Cut him some slack" is CRAZY, bro yes he's been abused and bullied his whole life, it's freaking sad and I wish he could've had a better life, but trying to use that as an excuse for what he does in the future episodes is insane (I'm not going to specify because I don't want to spoil it for Yoshi and Sheera) Like I hate that y'all ignore the fact that Sieun and Suho literally TRIED to help him, they TRIED to reach out to him, HE was the one who decided that he didn't want their help, he was the one who decided to abandon them and pretend like he was never even friends with them when they TRIED to comfort him and help him, so YES, all the slander he gets, he 100% DESERVES
@@BEOMIEPRINCESS Nope, not every of those slander is deserved. A bunch of the same people like characters like Tony Stark, Joker, Loki, Walter White, etc. Characters that have done much worse as adults. Bum Seok even got more hate than his father who abused him, hello? The only reason for this reaction is because he hurt a character y'all like and because he isn't as handsome or as masculine. He did something wrong and deserves to face consequences of his actions. But he isn't evil nor does he deserve to be forever hated or abused or killed.
