Most say no patterns and prints ... her skin tone is dead on perfect that the pattern literally blends in, not "distracting" at all! What a fantastic session!

Thank you Peter. I feel you are very fun to work with. Bet all the models LOVE to work with you. The lady you had on the shoot was divinely beautiful. The colour of her hair and eyes are very pretty and vibrant! Many thanks for the valuable Tips. Best of luck.

this is a great quick down and dirty tutorial! now to convince people to let me shoot their headshots. i know no models willing to work TfP or to pay for my services. i thought i had a couple of non-models lined up for some simple headshots (TfP) but one ended up ghosting me, the other couldnt find the time because she starts her college classes at the end of the month and yet another is too busy to add something else to her schedule even though, i offered to pay HER, for about an hour of her time.
im definitely not in the right market but im tied here for the foreseeable future
again, this is GREAT @Peter Hurley!

Way to go Peter. Peter Hurley is my favorite headshot photographer. He's the master and I take any advice that comes from him very seriously but I've never seen any of his tutorials working with overweight people. I am a headshot photographer in Houston Texas and I photograph everyday executives, realtor, doctors, lawyers, engineers, sales people, older adults and young college graduates and some/many are not necessarily in the best shape like most Peter's models are. Any positive tips on that subject are always welcome.

I shoot overweighted people from a higher camera angle, if this helps.

I have found that when working with overweight clients it’s best to have a higher camera angle, as it makes them look thinner.

I like that you said to keep the camera lower . Almost ALL girls prefer to have their pictures taken from , practically , aerial views lol . Because they think it makes them look skinnier . I think it makes them look shorter and stubbier !! Thank you for confirming my suspicions !

Question what if we don't have continuous light. You have a magbox 42 that should work right. You put the light on the side

Please am looking at investing in a good telephoto lens for PORTRAITS and Headshots. I shoot mainly weddings. Please should I go in for the Canon ef 100mm f 2.8 L USM MACRO lens lens or Sigma 85mm 1.4 art len. Thanks you

Great tips. But, I noticed her eyes reflect the white squares of the lighting system used. I wasn’t a fan of that - it lowers the quality of the images.

This was great but I'm gonna disagree on the the downward angle. I've gotten some great results with it when used subtly. Frankly, the shot at 5:11 isn't that bad. It really doesn't "diminish". A little lower and it's fine. One thing it does well is definitely eliminates the double chin. Anyone else use it?

Really great, I love it. Nevertheless, the word is squinting. Hate to be picky, but someone might actually think squintch is a word.

Lol, he knows what the actual word is. He’s inventing a new word: squint + clench?

Hurley has borrowed all of his techniques from past photographers--nothing wrong with that but he takes credit for all of it which is BS. He is a used car salesman (no offense to used car salesmen). His main goal is to sell you his gear and make money. His head shots are pedestrian at best--they all look pretty much like high school yearbook photos. It's too bad that beginning photographers are pulled into this scam but he's not the only one peddling snake oil on RUclips and other media outlets. My advice to beginning photographers--don't be fooled by this guy. Find a photographer who does headshots well and learn from him/her.
