Another great vid from your team and this one simply shows why Peter is the best. Natalie -- either put the lens hood on properly or take it of - lazily leaving it on reversed is a very very bad example -- as is supporting a 70-200 on a tripod from the camera and not a lens foot. Peter's little tricks to challenge and use humour to get "something" in the eyes of his subjects. SOOOO many models eyes are dead. 100% with peter on shooting in bright light to shrink the pupil (black space). 92mm from what 7-8' (too far away in my view for a headshot), 5600k, jam your forehead forward, swintch, lift the chin, drop the closest shoulder to emphasise the jawline, find the better side, light 10' from the wall and 3-4' from the subject - so the wall is ~16% as bright as the subject Big debate in my world on the size of the catchlight in the eye -- "what is that large donut" -vs- ...... Ring flash, Beauty dish, large para all provide a ring, 4 panel and clamshell provide hard edged reflection, Peter's 3 speedlight/Led solution a triangle. Classic clamshell top and bottom and then ultra large softboxes or heavily diffused lights almost no distinct reflection -- all worth exploring. Even bigger debate -- ultra shallow (tedious) DOF -vs- appropriate DOF and providing enough DOF to enable the viewer to understand "where" the shot was taken -- otherwise one might as well be inside a studio.
He said it makes the person's face look most natural as far as features. The nose , the width. I tested this . I used a 20mm, 30mm and 50mm . My 85mm looks the best.
Thanks B&H for this. It's a bit basic though. I expected way more useful content when I read Peter's name. Also Natalie, please stop saying you are nervous again and again atleast in the future videos.
Watch part 2, where Natalie teaches Peter aerial photography, here: ruclips.net/video/9ZaqEidqhtE/видео.html
Bonkers and amazing! I feel entertained! Thank You B&H for creating that videos with Peter
We love working with Peter. Thanks for watching!
B&H and Peter Hurley are the absolute best!
That's why we keep inviting him back!
Which of these do you prefer to shoot: headshots or cityscapes? 👇
Headshots. It has a far smaller carbon print!
Headshots, I'm bad at building cities
I like them both but will say citiscapes
Great video as always!! Thank you for the quick training!!
Great teacher. It good to see other famous instructors teach to get ideas.
i want to say that Mr Hurley has been a real inspiration
To be honest, I think all credit goes to model. She is a pro and each photo has pose and she looks great in all of them
Brilliant stuff. I’m about to join the PH Crew.
Do it! It changed my life.
You will not regret it
Peter, you are the coolest person in the city. To take your in-person workshop shop is on my bucket list.
Thank you so much for the very informative video on headshot photography!
That was a very good learning curve!
Great Video!!

Ha! Misshattan... she's cute and that NY attitude 😍
Thank you B&H
Thanks for watching!
Why does Peter prefer a focal length at 92mm? I may have missed his explanation.

This is perfect for my Photo 1 students. Would love to see her teach Peter in the helicopter.
Stay tuned for part 2 👀
good informative video.
Thanks for this. I just picked up a couple FJ200s and am getting into strobe photography. All about experimentation.
That's great! Glad we can help you get inspired.
@peterhurley which tripod do you use?
Best times ✊🏼

@BandH Is the Westcott Joel Grimes beauty dish featured in this video with a white interior or silver interior? Thanks!
The one they are using in this video has the silver interior.
@@BandH Thanks so much for letting me know!
How do you deal with the light equipment getting in frame ??
Peter will often digitally remove the light in post production.

You're using Capture 1??
Yes, they are using Capture One.
I want to see Peter in a helicopter, no doors! 😀
