  • Most divers find it hard to catch live lobsters because they hide in cracks in the reef during the day and trying to grab one and pull it out is almost impossible. As a marine biologist I have studied lobster behavior for over 40 years and I have developed a way to cause the lobster to come out of their hiding place all on their own. Good lobster hiding places out on the reef are hard to find and the largest most aggressive lobster will fight to get the best hiding spot. Lobsters recognize each other by touching their tentacles and if two large lobsters want the same hiding place they will fight each other for the best spot on the reef. If you approach a large dominant lobster slowly and use your fingers as tentacles you can coax the lobster out of its hiding place by challenging it to a fight! Once the lobster leaves its hiding place then they are much easier to catch!
