Hello Paul - greetings from Poland
That was lovely. Thank you so much for making this superb video. The still photographs at the beginning of the vlog were beautiful. What gorgeous views of St Marys Bay and the incredible geology. I liked Berry Head - steeped in history. The Napolionic forts were of special interest. Sharkham Point - now we move into mining. To cap it all, a car carrier goes steaming by. You captured everything - brilliant. Loved your super commentary. Thanks again

Hi Michael, yes, I have fond memories of making this video after work one lovely afternoon and evening. I had the beach mainly to myself for most of the filming. It is a fascintaing area, yet day trippers to Brixham are often not aware of it. I think this was also my first 'successful' video with number of views - it went over 500 at the time - most were only getting 20 -30 views then. Thanks again, cheers, Paul.

Thanks for the comment and glad you enjoyed it. Also thanks for the memory. I don't know the area that well, but I have worked in Brixham for 4 years. I have also been intrigued by this part of town and how much quieter and possibly undiscovered by a lot of visitors and day trippers this part of Brixham is. Yes, I think it would be a bit precarious for a hut on the beach with all the rock falls! Thanks again.

The first holiday I ever had was at South Bay Holiday Park, just above St Mary's Bay in 1965, or thereabouts (age 6). I have had many holidays in the Engish Riviera since and it still remains the most beautiful place in the world!!

Hi Paul, Gosh, seeing that Devon red sandstone reminded me of our trips down to Devon and Cornwall, an image of the cutting on the M5 instantley came to mind, I thought it was Honiton but I think it must have been near junction 31 near Exminster/Shillingford (I got there thanks to google maps!!).
You had a great afternoon out there all to yourself, when I saw the title I thought we would be in Brixham town and although we were, we were out on the headland, what a great walk that was and so many details to be seen. Just been having a delve in my AA book, which is quite dated now, anyway it says that the lighthouse at Berry Head is both the tallest and the shortest as the light is only 15 foot tall but is 200 foot above sea level. Do you think it is still there?
    Great video, well done!!
    Good luck from Spain!!

Thank you David! Yes, it is the final southerly junction of the M5 - just where it splits three ways; A30(Cornwall)/A38(South Devon & Plymouth)/A380(Torbay). Yes, Berry Head lighthouse is still very much there and still in daily use. I remember seeing it on one of the many walks I used to do after work on Berry Head (but before I started WW). I remember this video well - for a very long time it was my most viewed video! St. Mary's Bay is very much the 'Forgotten Corner' of Brixham - but my favourite part of the town. Thanks so much for watching and commenting - it is very much appreciated! Take care, Paul.

I remember the bay before they had a fire at the holiday complexes ,now they have loads houses there shame really everything is slowly being eaten away and a house stuck on it.The mine and cave are still near the point, thoo the mine is blocked now i think.

Thank you for the comment. Yes, seeing housing expanding right around this beautiful bay is rather sad. Unfortunately, there is too much building taking place all over the Westcountry right now. I was going to explore the cave, but it was high tide at the time if my visit.
