I think the ninjago movie game is about as bad. It has the same open world problems but with the addition of akward feeling combat, poor world design and all the unique abilities are essentially just different colored beams. You know something was rushed when the last bit of meaningful gameplay is building some stairs to unceremoniously trigger the final cutscene. I guess this is a pattern when they gotta make a game for a lego brand movie.
Only real positive with TLM2 is that the entire world is actually made of legos. My biggest gripe with Lego games like Star Wars, Marvel, DC, etc is that it's just a normal video game world with some legos thrown in. I'm playing a lego game, I want everything to be made of legos.
They need to make more Lego games called Lego transformers, Lego fast and furious, Lego 007, Lego the hunger games, Lego men in black, Lego the mummy, Lego gi joe, Lego thundercats, Lego he man and the masters of the universe, Lego tmnt, Lego ghostbusters, Lego DC games, Lego star trek, Lego Battlestar Galactica, Lego avengers 2, Lego Indiana Jones 3, Lego Jurassic world 2, Lego marvel super heroes 3, Lego pokemon, Lego sonic the hedgehog, Lego super Mario bros, and Lego the legend of Zelda.

This one actually feels like a Lego game. Not a handholding Travelers Tales game with a licensed lego aesthetic. I think the biggest problem with these games is that they just kept refining OG Lego Star Wars, as if that’s the only way to make a Lego game. Wish they’d refine the the Lego Worlds formula and just go all out on a fully customizable sandbox with an in-depth story mode like building your town’s economy or something. I guess it wouldn’t have the mass-appeal this format has though... I’m not trying to gatekeep either. I’ve played and enjoyed most of the Tt Lego games. Just wish they didn’t play it so safe all the time.
I’d say the worst LEGO game in my opinion is Lego City Undercover: The Chase Begins on the 3DS. There’s a ton of long loading screens in the “open world” and overall is just a worse version of LEGO City Undercover
Bro if only they could have released a Lego Worlds expansion for the movie instead of a game like with other IPs when they were added (Nexo Knights, Ninjago) because I think it makes total sense for master builders to be in a game so free and non-restrictive. They could have added tons of Lego Movie characters and even a biome or two and that would have been better than this

i can agree with the vid but just because the intire game plays in the overworld doen't mean its bad LEGO city undercover for the 3Ds also didn't have levels but if you ask me, the events of that game where more interesting than the console version. Also that game fokused more on the bosses while the console version fokused more on the collectibles
also LEGO city also has the issue where everyone kinda has the same abbilleties yes i know you have different abbilleties but there all tied with a speciffic job you are garenteed to get (besides superstrenght but that is the only one and you can very easily find caracters with that abbilletie) all the unlockeble caracters are basicly useless unless you want to make an machinematic (wich doesn't count when we are talking about the game itself)

I played Lego The Clone Wars on the DS and it's surprisingly good. There's a weird bug that made enemies stop attacking you if you force choke them for a split second and let go before they die and it was fun to mess with
I remember getting Lego movie 2 and being so disappointed I expected so much more, it had amazing characters to choose from it had a decent but not bad story to adapt the bosses are easy and underwhelming and most of all the open world awfull
What would have been cool is if they had a lot of characters ,a better story , a free roaming option, and better graphics . Some of the characters could have been include Godzilla, Kong , Apocalypse Pennywise, some characters from Ninjago, etc .

Yea, I agree that this wasn’t the best lego game. Back when I heard about it I was planning to get it, until I saw the gameplay. The fact that most of the story doesn’t even match what happens in the movie just infuriated me. And a lot of its mechanics reminded me a lot of lego worlds, which I really didn’t like.
Lego Lotr and Lego Batman 2 had my favorite open worlds ever. Just how you could walk to Mordor with no loading screens and exit the batcave in the batmobile going to fight the open world bosses is so cool
LEGO LOTR is one of my favourites for the same reason. I love the lord of the rings movies, and getting to explore the world with the locations from the films was one of the most mind blowing experiences as a kid

They should have swapped the names though there are no living skywalkers in TROS so using it for the OT and PT would have worked great ahd then since the new one will almost certainly have elements from rouge ones ahd solo complete saga would have been so much more fitting as a name
When I started with LEGO Star Wars II on the PSP, it was just the PS2 port. When I got LEGO Indy 2, it was the DS port. Nothing against peeps who had the DS versions growing up, but that felt like a downgrade for me.

Those piles of lego bricks that is probably the best way they could have done it without frying your system. Lego bricks are deceptively resource intensive. Lego Worlds does a lot of trickery to get it done but I suspect the trickery doesn't work when you have to place them haphazardly in a pile. They could have hidden it better by putting a few real bricks on the top or straight up not putting the piles there at all but they are not wrong to use an image over the geometry.
I think the thing with Lego Movie 2 game is that they forego the traditional gameplay to go for something closer to Lego Worlds. The problem there is that they remove the world creation and don't really put anything interesting in its place, and instead you're just kinda going through the same quests and finding cosmic bricks with no real goal aside from "complete the level and see what happens next", which I feel the Lego Movie 2, well, movie does a better job of telling that story rather than how the game tells it. It's a shame, too. I had the most fun just exploring the worlds and seeing all the characters they put in and if they had focused more on exploration and less doing boring quests over and over it could've been a fun game.
I remember seeing the first trailer and i got so exited i got it on the day after launch day and i was really disappointed hopefully that doesn’t happen with the skywalker saga

That tidbit about this game being rushed makes me appreciate the delays on The Skywalker Saga so much more.
They used to release one LEGO game every six months. By the time this game came out, they had a ton of experience with the engine.

I played LSW the complete saga on ds growing up. I only bought the console version this year when it was on sale.

I think the thing with Lego Movie 2 game is that they forego the traditional gameplay to go for something closer to Lego Worlds. The problem there is that they remove the world creation and don't really put anything interesting in its place, and instead you're just kinda going through the same quests and finding cosmic bricks with no real goal aside from "complete the level and see what happens next", which I feel the Lego Movie 2, well, movie does a better job of telling that story rather than how the game tells it.
It's a shame, too. I had the most fun just exploring the worlds and seeing all the characters they put in and if they had focused more on exploration and less doing boring quests over and over it could've been a fun game.
I remember seeing the first trailer and i got so exited i got it on the day after launch day and i was really disappointed hopefully that doesn’t happen with the skywalker saga
