As an Australian, living in Malaysia and Singapore, the self deprecating origin story Ronnie shares is absolutely impressive. No chance anyone could have racked up those accomplishment without intellect, tenacity and grit. I have a whole new level of respect for the man.
Ronny's save at the Intl. Emmys was hilarious. What a brilliant bit of improv to save the night and Turturro from embarrassment. If the organizers can't recognize that, then they don't deserve Ronny's wit. To hell with 'em, Ronny!
Loved getting to watch Ronnie develop his career in Australia. His tv show International Student is hilarious. So glad he's getting the respect and recognition he deserves. Love you Ronnie
Ronnie is fantastic. As an Aussie … seeing him start out at various gigs in Melbourne… very proud to see him do so well. Look forward to see him go from success to success!
Well, NH does have Santa's Village and the flume gorge which I thought was magical. And then as an adult, learning to ski at Waterville Valley and Loon mountain was thrilling. Love the skiing in NH and VT. But wouldn't want to live there.
I mean I occasionally feel like this about Minnesota, where I grew up, but then I go back and the air hurts my face and it's very confusing as to why I ever liked it. But when I'm in gorgeous sunny California I'm like: I MISS SNOW and WATERFALLS
Ronny saved the International Oscars by releasing tension from the screw-up and blaming it on the accountants, who belong to the "oppressor class" and are free-fire targets.
Right on, Ronny, you're the best. It's really touching to hear about your history and your parents. Life is amazing, so many different vantage points, frame of reference; choices, random events. We're grateful for your passion and insight and your delivery! Intense and hilarious. 🎉 😂
Ronny is top notch. I saw him a bunch when he was living in Melbourne. He was always great on live podcasts and his standup is great, truely one of the greats
Ronny Chieng is my favorite living comedian. Thank you Christian Singapore girls for damaging his soul just enough to inspire his return to America. He is a National Treasure!
I remember seeing Ronny Chieng at Raw Comedy in Melbourne when he was studying at my university. I know he’s more Malaysian, Singaporean, and American than Australian, but I still feel hometown pride when I see him on tv!
It’s kinda clear they were scared to go with Hasan after the ridiculous attacks on him, and none of the others were good enough to be the only host, so Jon Stewart’s coming back to reinvent the show with them. It’s a pity they didn’t dare to go with Hasan, but it will be nice to see Jon Stewart back.
Is it just me or do you guys also find the Malaysian accent to be very bad? It's probably the worst cause everything seems like coming from the throat. It's like he's trying to vomit while he is talking?
@@victorerzikoff1203true and I feel he's putting on a mixed of an accent. Not a Malaysian accent 100% lah, ini macam dia kena talk style orang putih so they faham 😂
His comedy acts out a bit arrogant (and hilarious) yet he seems so humble and genuinely shy and respectful just like in this interview. Ronny is awesome.
5:50 i moved to Londonderry in '97, no one knows why it's referred to as ManchVegas. My California friends asked about minority issues I said, oh it's a problem. It's the French!
@@dEadERest I'm pretty sure it only became ManchVegas in the late 1990's. But be careful about what you say about the Quebecois in Manchester, they own basically the entire west side of the river.
As someone who lived in Nashua, NH as a kid, this conversation was hilarious to me. Ah, the lights of Manchevegas! Totally random is a perfect way to describe the area. Growing up, it was awesome. (We swam in a quarry!) Going back as an adult, it was a bit depressing.... (How safe was that quarry anyway?! lol.)
Ronny is a very intense and funny human being. You never know what comes out next but he is always apologetic, polite, and funny. Fantastic stuff, very entertaining.
Ronnie is a bit humble. His undergrad is from the University of Melbourne, which is the #1 research university in Australia. His law degree is from Australian National University, which is a top-tier university.
My sense is that Comedy Central does its best to employ its stable of comedians, using shows like Drunk History and more recently, The Daily Show. And likely others -- after Colbert left the network, I stopped watching CC. In any case, I think it's terrific. Nice to have you back, Jon!
He’s actually such a talented guy! He would be filthy rich as a greedy accountant but I do think his life is better like this! I’m sure happy about everything he’s being part of! :)
Nah. Stewart reinvented the show. I remember the original and when Stewart took over. The show that exists today is a totally different beast to the Killborn days. So, if you want to be picky, you could say that Stewart was the first host of the current version of the show, or something like that.
Can I just say I'm happy that Ronnie Chieng eventually leaned into his Malaysian heritage. I remember when he basically implied he was Singaporean. I get it, he's from Johor Bahru, which, as he said, is like New Jersey to Singapore's New York. But good on him. 🇲🇾

Yeah, Hes Malaysian.
He's clearly highly intelligent and diligent with whatever he does.
Great comment!
It’s true. It adds a little sass to his comedy, it’s great!
He really is f-cking awesome!! One of the very funniest comedians there is and so fabulous in every single thing he's done!
Ronny Chieng has an amazing life story!Thank you for doing comedy instead of corporate law. 💪🏽
Yes! ❤
Thank the five Christian Singaporean girls.
he looks like his wife, one of those couples that look similar

Exactly. He works hard.

They said it in the video. The first announcer was given the wrong name to announce as the winner.

I am super thankful to Trevor Noah for giving Ronny the encouragement and support he needed. Thank you Ronny for every laugh and giggle 😂😂😂😂

you ever check ABC's Problems? I love the fuggin show
Having lived in NH since 1987, his description of Manchester being "magical" as a kid and then "a very random place to be" is... being polite ;)
Dude it's manchganistan and it's GONE TO HELL. He did say he hadn't been in 25 years and once upon a time manchvegas was special
Well, NH does have Santa's Village and the flume gorge which I thought was magical. And then as an adult, learning to ski at Waterville Valley and Loon mountain was thrilling.

@@falloncohen6814 that all started when they turned Elm St into this cheap version of Concord. Should've left it alone...

Never mind Trevor and John Stewart, I'm in for watching just for Ronny Chieng!
Loved your work ever since International Student.
Me too!
Did International Student finish?
Ronny saved the International Oscars by releasing tension from the screw-up and blaming it on the accountants, who belong to the "oppressor class" and are free-fire targets.
For real, sounds like he was able to turn it into a hilarious callback to clapping for them earlier 😂 brilliant!

Oh God Seth, I was in Manchester, NH once, and I thought it was the most boring place, but to see you came from there, it kind of changes everything.

Can't believe they chose Jon Stewart over ANY of the anchor stalwarts; Ronnie Cheng, Roy Wood Jr, Desi Lydeck and more. 🤦🏻♂️

they may have forgotten, but i haven't. Craig Kilborn was great, and while the show is very different now, wouldn't exist without him.
