Ash, I had to laugh a little when I watched this video. My sent as a young man was Brut and I recently saw it in my local store so I bought it and I had very much the same sense as your explanation, a much more powerful sent than I would wear again.
Just a few days ago I had an overnight visit from one of my oldest friends. We were getting ready to go out for dinner with our wives and when he came out of the guest bedroom, I caught the unmistakable aroma of Drakkar Noir. I had to smile. I hadn’t smelled it in many years, but I recognized it immediately.
80's? DENIM EDT. Pound for pound, the best frangrance ever. I must try this Lapidus. Nothing will ever beat your review of Eucris, but this review comes close!
Take my money, you've sold it so well. Not heard if this pong before but I'll be having some now. I love the retro 80s power fragrances and since watching your reviews I've revisited Drakkar Noir and Quorum, and also love newer strong pongs like Floris leather oud. How about giving Farenheit a review? It was brutal back in the day. Maybe give the budget pongs a go; hai karate, Denim and old spice. Gift set nostalgia. Keep it up Ash and happy new year to you
Look for one with a grey glass bottle. The newer harsher ones are painted grey bottles. Private sellers online is the likely place you'll still find it
Brilliant review I recently bought and love it definitely polarising. One minute you get a nice fresh smell next minute inside of an old church or an antique shop. I love the fact it’s not boring or safe to many of them.
As a professional vampire hunter I have always struggled to find that one signature scent. I might just have to give this a shot! Thanks for the review!
I love Lapidus pour Homme. It’s a great reminder of 80’s locker rooms and power fragrances. I get a honey 🍯 sweetness with a heavy hitting kouros vibe. Almost I’d say it’s kouros’ big brother. It only lasts 6-7 hours on my skin. But I live all the 80’s fragrances especially Polo Green. The original.
Hi Chaps, this video is so much fun to listen to! 1st vampire repelent ever. I'm crying out of laughter right now. I just love the use of those big words for the fragrance as much big, as it seems.
We are the same age, Ash. But in my part of America, the 80s was dominated by the green bottle Polo and Drakkar Noir. And boy did us kids pour that on heavy.
This took me exactly 9 months to start to love. It's definitely one of the most challenging fragrances I ever experienced. It's more challenging than Kouros but also much cleaner. Only thing which might be more challenging is Arrogance pour homme. I wear Lapidus pour homme in the warmer weather daytime but only 1 spray behind the neck. During winter 5-6. Lapidus does bch slap every other fragrance, anemalics work well in the morning I find, it's like a slap to the face to wake you up
This review was a great little laugh. Your commentary bordered on hilarious! On the other hand, I take my vampire self-defense very seriously- sounds like this stuff works better than holy water! 😉 Cheers!
Always an honest opinion. How about the original 1966 Dior Eau Sauvage EDT. I've been told it's an excellent performer. And a classic bottle. Also Chanel Pour Monsieur; I believe from the 1950s. By Coco herself. Both are pricey. But are they worth it!
You previously stated you would not review something you did not like. I can understand this review in that it is a warning to avoid this scent, done tastefully and with humour. You presentation was so powerful I can smell the potentcy through my tablet. I think I'll go splash on some Tabac to neutralise the effect!
I think secretly Ash loves it and wants it all to himself 😂. Had me smiling a lot throughout the review. Fragrances I recall from primary school days and the school disco Insignia, Blue Stratos and Rapport.😊good times.
Aramis Estée Lauder popular in the 80's My Father would use it every Friday and Saturday night on the Town, Still available today very unusual / unique scent. This would fit your reviews
We'll have to agree to disagree because I feel Lapidus pour Homme is quite beautiful and attractive. I actually much prefer it over YSL Kouros which is in a similar vein.
I never liked those sorts of cologne. In 1987 I was about 30 and wearing Woods by Abercrombie and Fitch back when they were still catered to gentlemen instead of kids. Funny review 😂. You could use lapidus to spray muggers so the police can identify them days later. Cheers Ron
Lapidus Pour Homme is not for everyone. If you can settle for crowd pleasing fragrances like Sauvage and Bleu de Chanel, if compliments and “smelling nice” are your first reasons for wearing a fragrance, then Lapidus is not for you. If you want to risk it, and blind buy it, don’t get it new. Look for the private sellers who are selling the older version with the grey glass bottle, not the glass bottle that’s painted grey. If you look closely you can see the difference. Also I spray it on skin only. One or two under the shirt on the chest. To me it shines in the heat and smells like something you’d wear to a sunny outdoor cookout where you’d horse around with your cousins and uncles. It’s more fun, distinct, and interesting than it is beautiful. I get honeyed tobacco, incense, lavender, and some other stuff. I think out of my wardrobe of around 16 fragrances, it’s one of the only ones I have a backup bottle of. That and my all time favorite Bowling Green by Geoffrey Beene. If you try that one Ash, don’t get the English version. Any version made in the US is true to the original character. The Brits turned it into Drakkar in everything but the very opening. I’m glad this made Ash feel something though. I’d be disappointed if he wore this and said “eh it’s pretty nice I guess.”
I was born in 83 so I wasn’t of age in the 80’s but There is nothing to me like Antaeus. I experimented in my 20’s with a whole bunch of things, but by 30 I settled on Antaeus and Platinum Egoiste.
Have you tried hugo boss number 1,found a bottle on my shelf, had not worn it for years,it was like discovering a new fragrace, had a few compliments from both men and women.
When i first sprayed this it smelled like a urinal cake at first/i just started my fragrance journey i bought this and zino (old schools)you have to spend time with them/definitely frost bite weather for both of these can over spray and get away with it-lapduis reminds of my uncle -cowboy hat and boots, big belt buckle, womenizer going to the Mexican dances...
On my trip to Miami had the Drakkar noir and since then always associate that fragrance with Miami maybe its a subconcious thing, gonna try the lapidus now
It's a perfume for a sex god. Not a chap. Get an older bottle, not a newer one. Look for a private seller with a grey glass bottle, not a painted grey one
I am one of those unicorns that is in the middle with this fragrance. I like the open, I like the drydown, but the middle just doesn't work for me. On my skin there's a rotten pineapple odor for about 2 hours.
I would be curious what you think of it after a walk outside for a while. Say give it 15 minutes to a half hour. My oldest fragrance is called Obsession. Different from todays scents. More Musky.
On the other hand, some people may appreciate those who dose liberally with that stuff. Those who are hard of hearing in the nose, for example, may appreciate Lapidus' fumigation, assuming it really is like closed captioning for vapors. Or, if aspects of the architecture harken the pre-Renaissance, Lapidus could set a welcoming tone. If the loo (is that the right word?) is baroque and no one has repaired it, any sensory variety would likely spread good cheer. And if this shadow has offended, think but this and all is mended...
I love Lapidus Pour Homme, fantastic stuff. It is nowhere near as strong as it used to be. I think Lapidus Pour Homme has a similar, but masculine vibe to Dior's Poison which was for the ladies.
Don't forget about reformulation of fragrances: They changed because some former ingredients are forbidden nowadays. Most old strong fragrances are tamed...
To accurately describe its key accords: Libbys UmBongo, heart notes of Malibu and Lilt, with a silage (or soilage) of a used diaper filled with old indian takeaway🥰
This is the greatest review of any fragrance on RUclips.
Absolutely, I was in stitches
sheer brilliance!
I am 28 years old and i love Lapidus Pour Homme 😂 it is so unique good smelling

Yes! Been waiting for this review for a while!
Try mixing it with four parts water and use it to keep the brambles down.
😅😅😅
Good one!😂
Spot on every single thing you said. Thanks for the review. Interesting scent. Have a beautiful week.
Was wondering when you would review this one! It’s an amazing fragrance!
Agreed!
I use it as a daily in South Florida. Love it!! From what I've heard, it's extremely toned down.
This is a very entertaining fragrance review!
As a professional vampire hunter I have always struggled to find that one signature scent. I might just have to give this a shot! Thanks for the review!

I received Polo Green as a Xmas gift - it was like meeting a long lost friend - my love affair was reignited.
@ I really like it. The dry down, like you, is instantly a familiar friend.
I love it too. I do two sprays on my chest under my shirt. Lasts the entire work day
Hi Chaps,
this video is so much fun to listen to! 1st vampire repelent ever. I'm crying out of laughter right now. I just love the use of those big words for the fragrance as much big, as it seems.
Thanks for bringing back some amusing memories, Ash. I laughed throughout 😂
We are the same age, Ash. But in my part of America, the 80s was dominated by the green bottle Polo and Drakkar Noir. And boy did us kids pour that on heavy.
There is a fighter in the UFC whose first name is Drakkar and one of the commentators joked that he had a brother named Cavaricci
Had a bottle of Drakkar break in my backpack... every class I went to from then on out, yeah... I couldn't get the smell out of the books
After watching this review I could not resist; I ordered it. Only $20 USD on Amazon. I can't wait to try it....

Ordered me some for when I go downtown to see my PO.
This review was a great little laugh. Your commentary bordered on hilarious! On the other hand, I take my vampire self-defense very seriously- sounds like this stuff works better than holy water! 😉
Cheers!
Ash,I still have the same bottle purchased in 1988! My most recent cologne is Jimmy Choo
Consider Lapidus Altamir as an everyday winter fragrance. It's a better option and very affordable also.
Really funny review!😂
Hi Ash,
I highly recommend you the fragrance Mancera Red Tobacco. It’s an absolute power house.
Always an honest opinion.
How about the original 1966
Dior Eau Sauvage EDT.
I've been told it's an excellent performer.
And a classic bottle.
Also
Chanel Pour Monsieur; I believe from the 1950s. By Coco herself.

Brilliant,i am laughing like crazy.
How timely I was just going to go out and get a back up bottle of Lapidus - this is even nastier than King Kouros! Love em both!
I too have a backup bottle!
I never liked those sorts of cologne. In 1987 I was about 30 and wearing Woods by Abercrombie and Fitch back when they were still catered to gentlemen instead of kids. Funny review 😂. You could use lapidus to spray muggers so the police can identify them days later. Cheers Ron

'83 here too!

Please try Givenchy Pi mmmmmm ❤🎉
On my trip to Miami had the Drakkar noir and since then always associate that fragrance with Miami maybe its a subconcious thing, gonna try the lapidus now
A brave choice sir!
A master class in saying it’s shit but there’s a something for everyone. A true lesson in Chaphood🍻
We speak the same language !
Very interesting. On the US Amazon it is US$21, so I'll give it a try!
Could you review Halston Z-14? Another 80’s classic. Thanks.
After that review I'm tempted to pick some up just for pure devilment LOL
😂 That’s what I did. I’d never wear it. I ordered it just out of pure curiosity.
It's a perfume for a sex god. Not a chap. Get an older bottle, not a newer one. Look for a private seller with a grey glass bottle, not a painted grey one
My favourite fragrance! I imagine myself like Tony Montana every time i am wearing it! An A male fragrance for sure! ❤😎
Try Dunhill pursuit, excellent fragrance for men.
Floris Elite or Floris Honey oud ... you cannot go wrong with either ! 👍
I am one of those unicorns that is in the middle with this fragrance. I like the open, I like the drydown, but the middle just doesn't work for me. On my skin there's a rotten pineapple odor for about 2 hours.
"Reflecting on his best years", haha, great phrase - added to my list
Totally disagree with that description.
Very popular in Transylvania I hear.
I would be curious what you think of it after a walk outside for a while. Say give it 15 minutes to a half hour. My oldest fragrance is called Obsession. Different from todays scents. More Musky.
This fragrance was born the same year I was, if your information is correct!!!
Funniest fragrance reviewI have seen. I remember those late 1980s nightclubs as well ---
On the other hand, some people may appreciate those who dose liberally with that stuff. Those who are hard of hearing in the nose, for example, may appreciate Lapidus' fumigation, assuming it really is like closed captioning for vapors.

Any recommendations on a nice Pea Coat ? Ty
Go genuine US Navy surplus. Great and cheap.
Ha ha it’s one of my fave fragrances .. I love it.. a tad polarising yes indeed. No more than Kouros though
OMG The Vampire bit had me Rollin'!! ....Hahaha ha hahaha !!😂🤣
I just picked up some Drakkar noir out of a similar 90s nostalgia and I am rather enjoying it
I love Lapidus Pour Homme, fantastic stuff. It is nowhere near as strong as it used to be. I think Lapidus Pour Homme has a similar, but masculine vibe to Dior's Poison which was for the ladies.
Paco Rabanne pour Homme. From 1976, often reformulated but still going strong!!
1973
@ Right Mister ;-)
Love your jacket - where is it from?
It’s a used Gurteen that he got on Vinted
Gurteen (£5). It is a gentleman’s walking jacket (as described).
Don't forget about reformulation of fragrances: They changed because some former ingredients are forbidden nowadays.
Most old strong fragrances are tamed...
What type of fragrance is this described as, Ash?
Generally y as a fougere, although others disagree
I've heard fruity Oriental
On me the honeyed tobacco/incense and lavender shine through the most. On the skin. In the sun.
4:34 Thats it im gonna wear 10x Sprays of it in July when we have our 10+ Hour Finacial Meeting in the Office 😂😂😂
jovan musk for me i still look for it
Nice but doesn't last very long
It's a bit dangerous, but I find it more wearable than Kouros and is almost exactly the same, but with a bunch of honey.
Essential wearing to disempower those 1980s cigarette-smoking, champagne-quaffing vampires with big hair and shoulder pads 😄
Give it away , I am sure Ron Burgundy would wear it.
Bordering on a WMD by the sound of it 😂
To accurately describe its key accords: Libbys UmBongo, heart notes of Malibu and Lilt, with a silage (or soilage) of a used diaper filled with old indian takeaway🥰
Why can’t they put this level of potency into creed, Dior etc
Because it’s too powerful
some women are vampires so may come in useful, my fav 80s frag is cool water
lol take it your not too keen on this Ash 😂😂😂
😂 well said.
For a guy making videos about being a sigma...Lapidus should not strike fear into you, just confidence. Shouldn't have bought it new from Bezos.
Thanks for the warning, Ash
In summary then - a bouquet like a chimp's armpit and best only used for hand to hand combat...😂
The Flacon looks like a 80s skyscraper Donald Trump would put his name on it 😂😂
🧛♂😁
😂😂😂
Would it repel rodents from my garden😂
It would repel unwanted spirits from the afterlife, so yes!
Bruv u have great taste!!!! Habit rouge now this!!
I take it back... after watching review... this is good juice..
