Hi thanks for the video. I’m in search of which brand n test kit I should get. My question 1) is there any difference in original model n the 2x model? 2) if I get the 2x pro7 kit can it test for iron n copper if I get those tablets? 3)Or I must get the pro9 in order for it test for the iron n copper? Thanks in advance for your info.
Swimming Pool Tips, Reviews & How To - SPL I just refilled my pool n it was brown. After hard work of cleaning filter 3x daily have now can see the bottom of my pool n water is light green now. Guess I wouldn’t need the metal testing so I did order the 2x Pro7 as that the only choice for now for the new 2x. Thank you for ur fast reply.
I bought the ColorQ Pro 7 and after 2 months it began giving me bad readings for Alkilinity... called the manufacturer and they blamed the reagent. Reagent still had 6 months before it expired. I believe $160 should give you better quality.
My test report only show one digits for PH and no digits for other tests. Does the extra precision perhaps require a subscription to WaterLinkSolutions?
@SPL OK, the only difference I see is the 2094 gets you 288 doses . I like the 2086 and I may get that one but wanted your thoughts. If I am getting double the amounts of reagents is it really worth the extra 50 bucks to get the 2094
I bought the 2056 ColorQ Pro 7 last year (before the 2X was available)... since I'll need to buy re-agents again this year... is it worth just "upgrading to" (well buying really) the new 2X Pro7? or just get the reagents for the ColorQ I have?
im curious, what do the reagents actually do and why do even these machines still need it? is there such a water testing machine that can just test literally straight up? you put in a vial and it tests it, do only super expensive ones do that without these reagents? i find doing the drops of these things kinda annoying, i wish there is a machine that can test everything without using any of these drops, and just all i do is fill up the vial and tests.
I have the ColorQ 2x and enjoy using it. I’m prepping the water to add borates. If I’m targeting 80 ppm for Alkalinity, should I reference the Alkalinity reading or the Adjusted Alkalinity? As usual, thanks for the great information you put out.
Pricewise the Taylor wins. Ease of use the ColorQ 2x. You spend more for the digital readout and email report. But nothing wrong with the Taylor Kits. Just a different category of testing really.
Your step-by-step video is excellent! It gave me the confidence to actually use this device, so I am really grateful! Thanks David!
Another Informative Vid 👍, David I just purchased the pool lab1.0 because for me I really like that you can't over add the reagents.
That is a very solid tester. I have two of them and they work great! 👍
On the CYA test the instructions says to wait 2 minutes after crushing the tablet then inverted 10 times.
Nicely done! Thanks!

You would need the PRO 9 if you wanted to test for metals. The 2x is much better than the standard for sure.

Yes, I agree. But these defects do happen. They should send you out a free bottle of their new reblended ALK reagent. Email them.

Sounds like a defective unit.
Does it have the cabability to recommned what chemicals and how much to add to balance. When used in conjuction with th waterlink app?
For that you would need to plug your numbers into a seperate app like this one: www.poolcalculator.com/
How much for the supplies needed to run tests weekly for a year? Thanks
You may need some reagent refills if you test once a week. But you wouldn't do every test each week. So this kit should be good for one full season.
What in your opinion is better this unit or the pool water lab 2.0 ? Thanks enjoy all your content pod cast and all!
Both are good. They are different testers. The 2.0 does more test factors.
Is there a big difference in the 2094 version?
That is a more Pro kit but you may just want to get the ColorQ 2x Pro9 at that point.

great video bro
I don’t know, I love cool tools but it’s not like it really saves time. It just reads out the value. 🤷♂️
Yeah, not a huge time saver. That is not the selling point - more accuracy and the digital readout.
Loved It!

If you are happy with the original version I see no real reason to upgrade. Both are excellent.

Taylor has a machine now that reads a test strip so that one doesn't require reagents. Xpress Flex Testing System

Thanks for the great feedback. I would just get the Total Alk at 80 ppm.
Overall what's the best test kit. Color q or the Taylor. Best price and efficiency ?

@@SPL what is the difference in cost in the reagents
Pool guy just left us. After yrs and yrs of spending $100 every month. This doesn't seem expensive at all. LOL! I think I'll get it.
Do you have to pay anything on the app for the service?
The app is free
Will the tablets also work with the ColorQ Pro 7? Thanks
I am not sure. I could test it since I have both units.
@@SPL Thanks. If you do test it please let us know if they'll work. Thanks
Currently unavailable at Amazon 😢😭
You can find it on other sites. Seen it on other online stores.
Better screen than the last version but this should have a color oled.......
Yeah, I thought it would since it is called the ColorQ 😜. At least it is now 100% water proof. 👍
Thanks for a great video! How is acid demand handled?
They suggest the acid dose for you if you use the app. I like entering the number in the poolcalculator.com app as I find that quick and easy.
