my corps did a wake up before open finals and I missed it because ever day I wake up early to line fields and if a field is lined already, I go brush my teeth before everyone else rushes in so I missed our wake up to music.
Connor Rydland i might do dci again since my corps is most likely going world class, but i will drop everything and walk out if they put me in field lining.

My name is Connor Gerlitz and I marched 2010 and this broke me. Idk who to share this with so I chose you. I've been really missing my brother lately. More than before. I mean summer was our time. Soccer - skating - marching band - phantom regiment - and our tradition of going to see finals every and complaining about how we waited too long and how next year we are going to save money and be ready on day one. Every year. I just rewatched the show we marched together and it's called Into The Light. I mean fuck me... we start off the field and are born on to it and at the end we play the infinity chord aka eternity before we go off the field to end the show and die and play one last chord, one last breathe. Emotions. Then I just started watching stuff and I came across this 2016 semifinal wake up, which is could be more historic Regiment songs like Ave Maria or our corps song Elsa's procession to the cathedral. Instead they chose our year... and I didn't realize at first but once I did I broke. I broke entirely. Everyone is asleep so I tried to cry silently. I really miss my brother. I miss punching him. #PikePride
@@fatbetrn1976 To whom are you referring on his death bed? The composer, Michael Kamen, died in 2003. The arranger, JD Shaw, is very much alive and well, as is Garrett C who re-arranged it for this wake-up ensemble when he marched with Regiment in 2016.
Not me crying because I didn't get to age out in 2020 Gosh I love DCI for this, and Phantom is hands-down one of the best corps I've ever seen And this was evidence
@@ConnorRydland man, it's all good! Some of us never get to make it to the end of the line, and for some of us, that's okay. At least we got to experience it, even if it was briefly. And that truly makes DCI beautiful. How powerful it can be, to so many people.
Scores and placing notwithstanding, the very idea and reason for being when it comes to music is to ENTERTAIN the listener and/or arouse emotion. PR does this on both counts. An example of this comes to mind that happened to me while listening, quite by accident to a RUclips video of the 2010 PR show I stumbled across while searching for something else. No, on second thought I think I will keep that memory to myself and carry it with me Into The Light.
SUTA! I would have wished this would have been a wake up for me when I marched. Performing 12-13, was great, but 2010 is my most purest and favorite show from The Regiment!
@@ConnorRydland my five-year drum corps career started in 03 and i marched with 'juliet' back in 2007, so i'm only two steps of separation from PR 2016. so wild.

This is Drum Corps International. It's where several corps from around the country compete and tour around the country performing a show and they mostly sleep on gym floors of high schools.
Never in hell would I complain at 5am to wake to this wonderful sound.

Lining fields on finals day? That's rough

hey field lining is important ... consider yourself a trouper and don't complain
lol I did 3 years of field lining, I know all about it.
New life goal:
Roll out of bed and crush a trumpet solo like that dude just did.
Pretty epic for having just woken up.
What a beautiful way to wake up.

Wake up? Damn I would probably fall right back to sleep hearing this
The lights turning on right as the climax happened was so cool
WHY ISN'T THIS GETTING ENOUGH LOVE LIKE JERSEY SURF'S PURE IMAGINATION
Fun fact, I marched Jersey Surf in 2013 and 2014 and yeah that wake up with pure imagination is special
Gosh I want to have that kind of sound!!!! I love it!
the guy that arranged this should put it up on musescore.
He wrote the music on his death bed in 2010. The drill writer of their 2010 show died just five years later after that show.
Tyler McCabe not to be intrusive, where could I hear more about this?

Phantom always delivers on the semifinals wake up
Wow, I miss marching Drumcorps.....lol The memories will last a lifetime. :)
Whenever I listen to this, I can't help but feel nostalgic for when my band played this music my freshman year. Bravo Phantom!

I love how they brought back Into the Light. Seeing them play it in the tunnel in 2010 felt so respectful and soul-touching.
That trumpet solo in the show and in this recording..... HOT
Outstanding work! Simply beautiful 🔥 I'm so proud of these young people.

Yes. The genre is drum corps. Search RUclips for DCI, Drum Corps International.

go Buicks!
If you can buy an alarm clock and download that audio file I would put it
Isn't that song from Band of Brothers?
zakattack1945 I don’t think so but it’s close
Close! The guy who wrote the source for this was Michael Kamen, who also composed the Band of Brothers soundtrack.
So how do they wake up the horn players that wake up the corps??
very very quietly
How much for the alarm clock
