First of all, thumbs up for the video 👍. I've been getting the ABS/VDC error for a while, then the "motor monitor failure" popped out today after I ran the car up a few hills. Too bad because I really love the Alfa GT, it drives just fabulously.
Check all the things you said, plus the switch behind the brake pedal can give the faults shown. The plunger can get stuck in or the switch is faulty. The idle could be a faulty ignition coil as they fail at there end of working life after being put under load (going up hill).
Very good idea! I will check the break pedal switch and buy a obd scanner too, it would make the life easier. The ignition coil could be on the last leg, the GT was not in the best of conditions when I bought it, maybe time to replace them all.
Hi,check your battery first, last couple of times i had multiple warning lights on it was either a dead battery or the battery terminals were not tight.Especially as you have been using the battery to run the Fiat,it may just need a good charge.
And I have no idea how old the battery is, plus I drive very short distances everyday. Maybe I put it on charge now and wait until tomorrow for the rest of the video.
Hello my friend, seems one of my friends had a similar problem, 2 things - brake switch faulty behind pedal = cheap fix - or sensor on wheel hub its very hard to detect unless you have diagnostic can bus connection with the software or take it to someone who has one to run a systems check and get all faults reset and eliminate each alarm
I've had the motor control failure error appear due to engine misfires. In my case it wasn't as cheap as changing a spark plug or ignition coil, it was a problem with one of the fuel injectors so that had o be replaced.
When I have a motor control failure, I read the code with ODB reader and note it. After I delete these fault codes and wait until if they repeat again. I am not sure but I heard when check engine light is on, engine puts itself to safe mode, thats why it may feel not even. I was thinking its just feeling for me but a mechanic told me , it is a fact :) I would check ignition coils too. I remember, you already replaced sparking plugs. Next, ignition coils, after that fuel injectors maybe. About VDC, luckily I havent got any problem with that on my GT but my friend's BMW, there was a problem with traction control. It was caused by a bad sensor. When car is running front right's wheel speed wasn't catching up with others, sometimes sensor didnt read the speed at all. Just wanted to share if it may give an idea. Fuel gauge is the odd one.. Hope you will fix all cheaply as possible, good luck !
I had exactly the same problem, it was a broken pin inside the ECU connector (the smaller one). I managed to take the broken piece out and put inside a spare pin I had from another wiring loom from AR 159. Works like a charm!
It's been a long time, I replaced it, but the problem still persists and this malfunction is the same as my vehicle :( please strain your memory a little more
I went back and looked at one of the later videos I made. I put in an original Bosch MAF and then I had to use the OBD reader to turn of the codes and also turn the car on and off many times to trick it.
someone in the comments suggested a trick start. my gt has come up with the same faults vdc and motor control. it seems to do it in really cold weather, it was minus 5 today. the vdc has gone off by itself. the motor control was still on so I tried a trick start. i started up revved at a steady 2000 revs for 30 secs. turned off waited about a second then started straight up no waiting for system check. the lights have all gone. dont know how long its going to last. but i put a new battery in last week.
Hello my friend, I recently got an Alfa 147 1600cc 120ps and three days after I got this "motor control system failure". I went back to the mechanic and told me that probably is because it was stored for almost half a year in a garage without any gas. Computer has shown lamda sensor but they are both new. He deleted the warning sign but 2 days after it's here again. Any ideas guys? thanks
Have you checked the MAF? My mom's GT was misfiring (plus MCSF light turning on) when under load (like driving on a high gear uphill) and I read the fault codes using OBD. Misfire in cyl 2 and 4. I replaced the spark plugs and MCSF went away! BUT - it still has a rough idle 🤔🤔 I'm thinking it might be a problem with one of the sensors (MAF, the cam position sensor and all that), but I haven't quite figured out where all those damned sensors are 😂 Btw, you can buy an OBD tool at Biltema, they have great ones there 😄 I'm looking forward to your next video! 😁
Thank you! I have no idea where all the sensors are too, but you are right, It feels like a sensor problem. I will buy a felsökverktyg, very soon, maybe Biltema...😁
Once I had the mechanic pull out the MAF sensor then give the car back to me, the entire car was going haywire like in the video. But everything was working fine again once I plugged it back in.
Have had my GT on the road for a year, and once every so often my vdc failure warning light comes on, the car hesitates for about 5 seconds then it's all good again lol... So it's never bothered me tbh lol
I have same code on my gt .. when i accelerate too hard. From what I read it could be accu which had almost failed. I hope it's this i ordered new one. Did u already figure out what it is
Sorry to write so many times but again something of experience, injector cable fault can be the issue as the precise faults occurred with another guy in his case no 3 injector apparently the cables are very sensitive and may fail its confirmed by diagnostic testing sadly
As long as you give good advice, you can write as many times as you like 🤣🤣 You are right too, I need to do a proper diagnos of the condition, I will buy a odb reader now, it will be useful for the future too.
@@Imperfectgarden for sur it is i had these problem long time ago :) (multiplex problems: one failure causes various failures). Mine has cylindre one misfire illness and nobody is able to repair it...(every injection components are new, i've also changed the ecu). The last thing that my garagist find is a belt cam tensioner dead and a cam belt not very well placed. after repairing it, the car still runs like a shit: idle at 3 cylindre and acceleration at 4 at about 3000 t/min
Holy cow, that sounds like a incredible frustrating situation, to say the least. I thought changing every injection component should fix a misfire, what are you going to do with the engine in the future? Would you still want to fix it?
@@Imperfectgarden i've forgotten to say that compressions are perfect (2007 engine on a 2004 gt). the injection harness has been tested and everything seems to be ok. Albeit that is written that is a misfire on cylinder one, there is ignition on the cylinder one spark...according to my garagist, after doing the cam belt tensioner and control of the distribution, the engine has run well for 20 minutes and then runs like a shit...it costs me a lot of cash, next days i'll buy a GTV 2lts red interior :). About my GT, i'm thinking about putting a 2l ts inside with 1,8l engine management
I have a cheap bluetooth OBD2 which I used in my previous car. That way I was able to read out the failure codes through an app on my phone. Before that I had a peugeot 205 which had a way to read out failure codes with numbers which you can then look up online to see what sensor had a problem. There should be a way to read out more specific codes in this car
Sir all of you talikng about problem without solutions two days ago i drive AR147 to work nightshift in morning there was moisture on car like it rained few minutes before i drive towards home came across abs system failure, vod system failure , with number plate light off brakes started partialy working AR service center i registered my self to center half km away with help of partial brakes, hand brakes lower gear i am infront AR garage i parked myself waiting holiday over and center start to work , i my next twit i will give you questions ? And its solutions. I swear to godwhen AR works it works like magarine!

vdc failure is caused by the brake pedale sensor

debimeter failure cause fuel gauge non function
