The previous year's Iranian Championship had all teens in first second and third place, and Firouzja playing board 1 in the Olympiad 2016 in Baku. I believe it was Alireza first, Maghsoodloo third and I cant recall the guy in second place but he is now a 2500 GM. Yeah, Iranian chess was looking amazing for the future and Im sure Fabi was aware of that, probably met Firouzja in the Olympiad at some point playing board 1.
