Thank you everyone for your comments and positive feedback in supporting parade bands. I love providing this service and give these wonderful groups as much (RUclips) airtime as possible because they work so hard to get to this day that for many is a once in a lifetime opportunity as it was for me when I marched this same parade many years ago, so I know the feeling. I love covering parade bands in general and wish I could do more. The Rose Parade and Bandfest are truly what I look forward to every year as there is music representation from all over the world and it is really neat to see and experience it in person. Thank you for your continued support of this channel. It’s the reason why I continue to do what I do. Happy New Year 🎉
Thanks for the post. Glad to see my home state represented by Rockford. Nice to see the HBCU Norfolk State in there. Gotta love the Marines. Congrats to all the members that were able to march the parade. Also thanks to parents, boosters & staff that work so hard to get the bands there.
Rose parade in Pasadena in every new year where you can see the beautiful floats and marching bands. The kyoto tachibana shs band had march on this parade five years ago.
Awesome footage, Great Performances by All, I was in attendance as well and brings back Beautiful memories of a Super Fantastic time in Pasadena, Thank you!!!! 👍🏼🤠😃
Thank you for posting this. My grandson is in high school honor band and going for state. These bands work hard and practice for hours. I look forward to seeing them in the parades each year but in the recent years televised parades have become second to the commentators and commercials. This year I only saw a few bands and a third of the floats. The Thanksgiving Day parades are ads for broadway shows and commentators. For those of us that can’t get to the parades it is such a big disappointment.
Thank you for posting this. I didn't get to watch the parade (not even the reruns). Norfolk State brought the sound AND the energy man! Penn State had a good sound also. The Triuggio Marching Band (Italy) were really good too. Very good sound for such a small band. The All Gifu Honor Band (Japan) @ 22:49 just wow!! I'm very proud of the LAUSD All- City Band. Congratulations to all the bands who get to put this in their book of sweet memories.
I used to be in a marching band. I would have appreciated a font telling us which band we were seeing. The angle and camera location wasn't ideal , imo. It takes a ton of practice to negotiate a 90 turn, so my recommendation would be to repositioning the camera after that 90 degree turn, which made some bands look inferior who negotiated it poorly.. Lastly, the crane camera was blocking many of your shots.
It seems fitting that you filmed the bands turning the corner of Orange Grove and Colorado because the 2023 Rose Parade theme is literally “Turning the Corner!”
This was great. Could have been made better by listing who these bands were. Never had the drive to be a band member. Admire those who do. Especially those who seem to lack the talent. Sometimes they surpass those who have the skills but not the desire. Thanks giving us this view.
Oops! Didn't see the chapters titles until I submitted. Sorry. Still an on screen acknowledgement would have prevented MY complaint. And for LA, I think it's sad they don't consider woodwinds as band instruments. LOUD doesn't necessarily mean better. Call it a fake drum and bugle corps but don't call it a band if it's just the horn section.
It would have been nice to have the names of the bands, I wasn't able to watch the parade, and that info would have been nice. I do love marching bands!!!
Not sure if Taipei's First Girls HS Band played Baby Shark. All the videos I've watched of TFGHSB from this parade featured a song from Disney. For The First Time In Forever, Let It Go, Do You Want To Build A Snowman, Try Everything, Supercalifragiliticexpialidocious, and a Disney Medley with Mickey Mouse Club and Zip-A-Dee-Do-Dah. All Gifu Honor Green Band out of Japan did play Baby 🦈during the parade and at their field show at Bandfest though. 😉
Probably not. Corps used to do paid gigs back in the day (60's) but I have seen SCV in this parade once or twice. SCV is not touring or competing with either of its 2 ensembles this year due to fiscal issues. Inflation/elections/economics have consequences.
My five in order - - ALWAYS NO 1 - USMC Composite Band - No. 2 Penn St. - No 3 LAUSD All City Band - No 4 AU Gifi Honor Band - No 5 Fresno St. BUT if you want the best that would come after the Marine Band go get the Jacksonville St BanD from Jacksonville Ala. NONE BETTER ENYTIME ANYWHERE!!!!
First of all, thank you once again for sharing this fantastic video, and so soon after the parade. All of the bands were superb and each deserved a spot in the parade. Okay, three takes...first, the USMC Band was noticeably smaller at around 78 musicians, compared with 100 in previous years. Anyone know why? Second, the Brookwood band was great, but once again, (and just nitpicking here) their music director came up with a snoozer for a marching tune. Just my opinion, but a march should be bold and brassy (see LAUSD). And third, why is the Salvation Army still in this parade? I'm surprised that an outright anti-LGTBQ organization would still march in the Rose Parade. Tradition be damned, it's time to find a replacement.
Norfolk State University shut it down! Great show guys! Congratulations to all the bands...wonderful!
HBCU's always coming through for win! Bringing some culture shock to the west coast! Ayeeeeee...💛💚
they did an awsome job
Behold the Green and Gold!!! The baddest band of Hampton Roads, VA representing

Can't wait for 2025 when Tachibana will march this parade again
Is and always will be the best.....will be there.
Yes, they’ll be here in 2025 😊

I love hearing the USMC play their march but I’m a bit disappointed with how many different arrangements they have of the song.
16:53北一女ローズパレード出演おめでとう🎉🎊👏
Random fact: Brookwood was and still is considered a rival high school for my school!

Why are so many folks walking beside the bands?
I’m guessing they are some band directors, assistants, parents and/or chaperones. The ones in white suits are Rose Bowl employees
It would have been nice to have the names of the bands, I wasn't able to watch the parade, and that info would have been nice. I do love marching bands!!!
Tapping the screen on my Samsung tab brings up the name of the band. Maybe it will work on yours too!
2:22のCatalina Foothills HS Falcon Marching Bandのロープはカウボーイとかの投げ縄なのかな?上に飛ばしたり面白い動き🤩
It is indeed a lasso! They're very stiff so they can move upwards and sideways with ease!
This is how they should show parades on tv nooo announcers

I appreciate the dedication, this video and all your videos. It is nice to watch these videos without the constant chatter of commercial television.
