Easily my favorite Sousa march. Volume 7 has several of my favorites, but this one is just so danged solid. It's such a shame it isn't performed very often.
It's probably performed rarely because it's one of his marches which are still not in the Public Domain. Almost alll of his marches up to mid 1926 are public though.
@@RWBHere On top of it not being Public Domain yet, you don't really see schools perform a march written for another school too often. So obviously Illinois plays it multiple times a year, but outside of that, you don't hear it much if at all.
I played in the Symphonic band at U of I and we pretty much had this piece memorized; we'd play it at least 2x a year. If you are ever in Champaign-Urbana there's a good chance one of the bands will be playing it.

Nice volume 7 collection! I am just wondering why Salute to Kansas was not included in the compilation. Great marches nonetheless!
