This video is really helpful for a career that revolves around media there isn’t that much information on mass communications specialist! Please keep up the mc content! I’d love to learn more about this path in the navy especially for the reservists aspect!
Oh my god YES!! FINALLY!! I had absolutely given up on finding a video describing exactly all of this. Thank you both so much! And yes please do a video being an MC in the Reserves because that's what I'm going to have to do. Great video!
GREAT video/interview. I hope they have you interview other rates in the fleet. Nobody makes junior sailor IT, LS or DC videos. Appreciate the knowledge.
My question is....with the knowledge you obtain and experience...which I'm sure is valuable without measure....how valuable are you in the civilian world? How much money you think you can make as a graphic designer that probably just bought himself a printer to print awesome posters instead of a car .
How much public speaking does this rate have? I want mc because of the creative aspects like writing and photography and videography but I’m not necessarily that great at public speaking
It was definitely incorporated into the A School curriculum but I wouldn't say it was the focal point. MC3 can elaborate but it doesn't sound like it's something she's had to do yet in her career.
Hi Krystal, I definitely will. There's been too many "I wish I'd know this" type of moments since I left A-School. I'll probably wait until a few more milestones occur in my first year as a reservist so that I can have all of the information needed for the next video.
As long as you qualify on your ASVAB, and MC shows up on your list of available ratings. Having an interest in those career fields would be enough going into A-School!
I have prior 4 years active duty experience and I’ve been considering SELRES as a ln MC, as prior service in A school could you speak on if it’s any different compared to coming from boot?
There was another Sailor who cross rated to MC while I was there, he was an E-6 and immediately became SWO when he arrived to the detachment. Just plan on being put into a leadership role and answering a lot of questions the new Sailors will ask.

Thanks for checking out the video! There will definitely be another one that will show how being an MC as a reservist is!

Thanks for watching! I hope to get to work with a lot of different rates, I'll ask MC3 about it as well!
Happy to stumble upon this! Great job getting info out there about the rating. Keep it up!

@@NoleCore I understand! Sounds great. Thank you
Am I able to become a MC with little to none experience of photography, journalism, and other parts of the job?
