I did this paintjob with a few little changes, and wow, this is incredible. It's not the first time I follow one of your tutorials and... It's not the first time I'm surprised with how much I learn and how much cool it looks in the end. Thank you sooo much
one tutorial i know of is on duncan rhodes' website, but they only show the contrast method. i would think the "classic" method would include the aptly named "word bearers red." though i'm unsure
Fantastic tutorial. I've got an Emperor's Chosen army, but I am painting my twin Galatus and Achilus dreads as Shadowkeepers and solar watch to add a little variety, so I am using all three of your videos! Thanks for these!
I'm so glad that I came across your channel. I've just recently started looking to get into the warhammer 40k miniatures. I've been torn on which army I wanted to start with. Was leaning towards the Castodes army, however after seeing this shadowkeeper set I'm decided. I've subscribed and will be looking forward to your videos!
Awsome 😃 I’m glad your getting into warhammer, it’s a great hobby with so many different ways to enjoy it aswell. Custodes are a great army to start with as well. Small model count and relatively straight forward to paint. Good luck and I hope you enjoy yourself with it 😁
Man, you are a criminally under represented content creator, subbed. Your ability to describe what you're doing and have a clear shot of said technique is so refreshing. Well done, I can't wait to see what else you do.
Thank you so much for the kind words. I work really hard to make sure these tutorials are actually useful for people. I always make sure I treat every tutorial like no one knows what I’m talking about haha it pushes me to make sure I get all the information across.
they're not that different to the gold custode I've done. The robes I would start with Corax white. apothecary white contrast all over, recess shade with some administratum grey if you want to make the folds a bit darker. layer back up with Corax white and then highlight with white scar.
While the content of your videos is great, what I really appreciate about it is the brevity. Dunc's Custodes video conveys all the same info as this one but in 3 times as long. Rapidly becoming my favorite channel for painting tutorials! I'm sure you get plenty enough requests already, but would you ever consider doing a video on AdMech Serberys Sulphurhounds?
I eventually would love to have most factions done, it’s just having to get hold of miniatures and time at the moment ☺️ but I’m sure eventually I’ll have something that will help you get them painted 👍🏻
You know, beyond how instructional these videos are they also give a bunch of attention to subfactions I didn't even know existed. Even if there isn't much lore on them your paint schemes alone usually sell me on the faction!
I am learning a lot, but man do you also make me feel bad. I have been using contrast to paint my massive backlog of Salamanders (i got a large lot for cheap) but you are putting so much damn work into a singel model that i would never finish if i did it like this!
I wouldn’t worry I very rarely paint a whole army to this standard. This is more for characters. I would go crazy doing this level for everything haha 😂 I’m doing my kruleboys in contrast 😁
Probably not. But once you have painted a unit this way, you’ll find you actually know how to paint anything this way. I would be using the same techniques and colours. Just take your time and plan the process if your worried. I believe in yah 💪🏻 you can do it
At 8.48 you mention picking out the details in Mephiston Red yet the paint pot logo says Evil Sunz Scarlet. Which do you recommend? Great channel. Thanks.
I followed this tutorial to paint a variation of the shadowkeepers. I'm struggling to figure out how I could do your gem method but in red. Could I use Mephiston Red instead of kantor blue? and if so what would you replace blue horror with? I'm not sure if there's a light enough red to get the same effect.
I would do retribution armour, then reikland fleshshade, layer back up with retribution and finish with stormiest silver highlight. You could get fancy and use some liberator gold before highlighting
There is another custodian colour scheme that I would love to see from you and that is the custodian warden which is black and white with a screamer pink tabard. You can find them in the custodes codex
from my experience with painting gold ( Thousand sons main army), it is not a good idea to water down gold. its too unwieldy even if using small amount of water.
Personally I find I have more control thinning it and doing multiple layers, just like any other acrylic paint. But everyone is different and you should paint the way you like. Thanks for your comment. I like learning how other people prefer to paint 😁

well done, I'm glad the tutorials have been helping. its amazing what a little knowledge can do. keep working hard
Please do a how to paint 40k word bearers, there are such a limited amount of tutorials for them on RUclips! Keep up the great work!
I’m planning on chaos content for later this year, so I would expect word bearers to be included in that

Oooo good luck, solar watch is my favourite

Amazing idea to do several sub factions in such an in depth tutorial ! Love it !
Thank you. I want all my tutorials to have some depth and usefulness for everyone regardless of what I’m painting

@@TableTopReadyRUclips You do it in a way that doesn't annoy or condescend to the viewer as well. Keep it up, dude.
Agreed
Cool color scheme, I'll try to use it with my deathwatch 💪🏿
I’m pretty sure this is the same as the deathwatch scheme as well from eavy metal
Excellent tutorial
Thank you :D
Another solid paintjob and a great video.
Thank you so much as always 😁
That looks really good, well made video 🙂
Thank you :D
I’ve been sharing these videos mate your first class!!
I can’t tell you how much that means to me ☺️ it makes a huge difference 👍🏻
Thanks I will follow your tutorial!
Awsome 😃 good luck
This was awesome thank you
Your welcome, thank you for the comment :D
Really great tutorials I loved all the videos you made and they are super usefull!
Thank you so much. I’m really glad you like my content 😁
I am a huge fan of the Custodes, and I find your videos inspirational and helpful. Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much. I really appreciate the comment 😁 I’ll do my best and keep working hard to make the best channel I can
Thank you for the lesson. Keep up the good work!!!!👍❤️
Thank you for the comments 😁 I’ll do my best for yah 👍🏻
Greatly enjoying your videos/channel
Thank you so much. I really appreciate the comment
Very nice video mate really helpful and doesnt require 130 different paints
Thank you. I do try and be as minimal with the paints as I can
Thanks for the schemes!!! Can you do Emissaries Imperatus Custodes? The white robes would love you see you approach on it

I like the idea of multiple schemes for a faction, it gives people a lot more choice and you can mix and match if you like different things I show
Excellent.

Do you think you will show off the shadowkeepers as other units like a dreadnought or dawneagle jetbikes?
Probably not. But once you have painted a unit this way, you’ll find you actually know how to paint anything this way. I would be using the same techniques and colours. Just take your time and plan the process if your worried. I believe in yah 💪🏻 you can do it
Did you use any top-coat/varnish?
I don't like to use topcoats or varnish. its not really needed and it effects the colours and you loose highlights.
A random question. What do you use to hold you sub assemblies?
I use some cheap Jenga blocks on amazon. I talk about it in my getting miniatures ready for painting
May be you paint salamanders? Your works so beautiful 😍😍😍
thank you so much. I will be doing more Space Marine chapters very soon and Salamanders is one of them :D
@@TableTopReadyRUclips Thank you very much!!! We are waiting)
i wish i had a steady enough hand to do this lol
A steady hand comes with practice and training your brain. But you gotta do it first 💪🏻
At 8.48 you mention picking out the details in Mephiston Red yet the paint pot logo says Evil Sunz Scarlet. Which do you recommend? Great channel. Thanks.
ha I hadn't noticed that, thanks for letting me know. I would use Mephiston red, it will match the tone of the black armour then

I would use Mephiston red, evil sync and fire dragon bright
I'm guessing you mean evil sunz?@@TableTopReadyRUclips
yes :)
how do you paint the shields?
I would do retribution armour, then reikland fleshshade, layer back up with retribution and finish with stormiest silver highlight. You could get fancy and use some liberator gold before highlighting
Ok the high lights do make it look nicer but I still think they look good without it.
if thats waht you prefrer then go for it :D
The way you pronounce Custodes is truly legendary.
haha thanks
There is another custodian colour scheme that I would love to see from you and that is the custodian warden which is black and white with a screamer pink tabard. You can find them in the custodes codex
I haven't seen this, I'll have a look. thanks
Space Wolves?
Maybe 😉
Are you secretly part of the ‘eavy metal team
Yeah, they let me changed the paint water sometimes ha I’m flattered you think that but I’m far from ‘eavy metal standard 😋
I was right
Yes you were 😃

When is GW hiring you again?
Haha there’s too much I want to do on RUclips. By the time I’m done, they’ll want me to hire them 😉
@@TableTopReadyRUclips haha I want to see this
Comment for algorithm. Orks.
Appreciated 💪🏻
this video is almost unwatchable due to the switching pronunciation :(
