    Pretty much my fav monster in the entire multiverse. I like the duality of entropy + insanity = chaos as a mythological origin for ALL SLAADi

    Once upon a time, circa '89, a DM wrote the *Slaadi adventure." He reduced several players to tears, and the entire group chastised each other. Pure chaos. Now, on the eve of his 50th birthday, I am writing a campaign for Pathfinder expanding upon that adventure. Gods help them, because I won't.

    I love 5e play style but man 3e lore is so good, maybe to much but still really good. Just a thought I had when this dude was going through what years the info came from

      Getting to read through the lore is one of my favorite parts of doing the Deep Dives. There is so much information about so many things it can be a little overwhelming at times, but it’s amazing to read. With such a lack of lore in 5e (although they are getting better) it great to be able to incorporate some of it into the 5th edition

      The barkskin spell would destroy the small slaad pellet inserted into your skin - which stops you from reenacting that one scene in Alien with John Hurt!

    I would love Slaad as monsters… if they weren’t the poster boys for the Chaotic Neutral alignment because they fucking suck at not being Irredeemable Evil bastards. Chaotic Neutral gets a bad rap as an alignment but it’s a versatile alignment that can represent tons of different characters with unique personalities, but Slaad don’t have unique personalities, they’re written to be a bunch of unrepentant murder hobos that enjoy murdering and enslaving (yes the most individualistic alignment has a slaver society) random people for no reason other than to be dicks. They should really get the Chaotic Evil alignment because none of their actions are even vaguely neutral, but because they’re tied to Limbo TSR and Wizards of the Coast are forced to wring their hands and say that only Death Slaad are Chaotic Evil. Also Slaad suck at being Chaotic from a visual perspective too, Slaad could hypothetically take any form, but no they’re all bipedal toads with 7 colors between them while the Lawful Good and Evil Archons and Devils are a wildly diverse set of designs.

    • @agsilverradio2225
      @agsilverradio2225 2 года назад +1

      Agreed. Calling slaadi chaotic neutral, is practicly slanderous to people who are actually chaotic neutral.

    • @mrpibb7
      @mrpibb7 2 года назад

      What if their personality flaw continued on a trend of being bred as Tools? They may have no love for fellow Slaadi, or they may Mr. Meseeks unalive themselves if they don't see a benefit to living out this current "organic cycle".
      I am dreaming up a comic relief scene rn: a Trio of blues or reds would be an interesting intro to a bruised up single remaining survivor(of an argument you hear) after they all hatch.

    • @elegantoddity8609
      @elegantoddity8609 Год назад

      In fairness, their lore casts them as corrupted. The true slaadi didn't look like frogs at all, but had no set rules on shape, size, or ability. But then either cause Ygorl tampered with the Spawning Stone to make them more controllable in service to his own brand of chaos (entropy) and/or Primus made the Spawning Stone and it backfired, now the slaad are murder toads with bad attitudes. So their brand of chaotic "neutral" leans them towards acts of killing just to sustain their own population. I think a really good idea for an adventure (building off one that already exists) would end with the Spawning Stone being "uncorrupted" so that slaadi are true representatives of CN.

    • @jima6545
      @jima6545 Год назад

      Most of the lore here is AD&D. Slaadi are destructive forces of nature. They aren't evil anymore than a tornado, earthquake, flood or hurricane is. Dangerous, unruly, and driven towards both chaos and propagation
