Lagat was simply flying that last 100m. It was so great to see him finally win and to see how happy he was to win for USA.
If Webb was in 1:43/3:30/3:46 shape like he was a month earlier, he would have medaled for sure.

Not necessarily. He really could have medaled, he just had bad tactics.

Alan Webb. Stop moving like a looney tune before the race. Use that energy for that final 100 meters.

Alan pushed too hard at 300m and 150m to try to regain the lead over kiprop should have settled for the position he was in and patiently wait til 100 to unleash he would have maybe medaled or at least top 5

Can’t understand Webb running 143.8 800m and 3.46.9 & mile this year and not winning or medaling

Poor positioning by Ramzi on the final lap. He could have won this race.

Webb lost it off the turn, or lost a medal. Just lost all his momentum and positioning

One of the greatest embarrassments in American running history. To have the fastest runner in the world that year over 1500m be a true American born man and the USA ends up getting given the gold by a Kenyan who changed to represent the USA. And the American fades in the home stretch to way out of medal contention. Damn

I'd say it was a win for American running, considering an American won gold

@@lukephillips3883 You literally just discounted an American gold because Lagat was born in Kenya. That would imply that you don't think he's really an American, which is rude and racist. You also didn't say 'the other American fades in the home stretch', you said "the American fades in the home stretch", which only further shows your racial bias because there were not one, but two Americans in the final.
