I have 2 xDrive N54 powered cars, an E60 535i xDrive and E90 335xi. The 335 is stage 2+ E30 tune, with Ebay intercooler, ARM c@tless downpipes and DCI (with PE Mod mufflers) and runs 0-60 in 3.6 sec on a cool day. The 535 has almost no actual performance parts, just a DCI and strait piped stock muffler, nothing else other than keeping the plugs and coil packs fresh. Stock intercooler, stock catted DPs, MHD Stage 1+ E30 tune XHP Stage 3 trans tune, and has done a best of 3.93 sec 0 - 60 on a COLD night. There is no way a RWD car with the same mods could come close. The 535 runs about 12.2 in the 1/4 at 113 MPH, which is more in line with the RWD car with the same power. Bottom line, the 4WD cars are slingshots from 0 - 60 and don't give up much in the 1/4 mile. Best of both worlds, and required here in New England!! I do think that xDelete does allow more power to the wheels but it would be lost in wheel spin. I have tested and can't run even 4.7 0 - 60 with RWD on the 535. That being said I do wish I had a RWD car as well.
I own a stage 2 fbo E60 535xi with a 6 speed manual and I've been experimenting with XDelete for a couple of months now , first time converting the car to RWD it felt more raw and wanted to go sideways when flooring it in 3rd gear going 70 mph , that gave me the impression of it being faster but it was just a feeling , what I did notice is how good BMW x drive system is when launching from standstill comparing to it being RWD , now I have XDelete but I like having all wheel drive with the amount of power I have it makes a huge difference .
Awesome Vid. I have 435i xdrive gran coupe. 440 crank hp. As a frequent roll racer I thought this XDelete may give me an extra boost. I bought but never installed as i luv AWD. Now I know 3hp 8tq. I had to choose between rwd and awd on a 330i and went with rwd. I’m happy with my choice. I must admit that xdrive is way better off the line. I like the way the rwd turn and handle
Great video. However, with a HP delta of 459 vs 470 hp, for a street driven car what’s the point of deleting AWF given that X-drive cars are typically faster to 60 mph? Personally, I’d be more concerned with the extra 110 lbs and added mechanical complexity than a negligible gain in HP.
Not for me thanks. It's too safe, too boring. All you achieve is a faster launch, but that doesn't take any skill, just point the steering wheel and mash the throttle. I'd much rather have to actually use skill to launch, and then have to actually balance and drive the car myself. My M140i is only at 411bhp/576nm now, but next month should be 460-470bhp, and I can't wait for those roundabouts on a damp morning !!!
That's actually one of the things that entices me to want to try this app. I don't have to stay rear wheel drive I can alternate between either one at any time I want.
I know I'm late. But you are the first person to say they'd rather put power to all 4 wheels. I've had my e92 328ix for about 4 months. & haven't seen anything but this car. I'm not looking too push big numbers. Aiming for 330whp or better. I've done a lot of research before I go to the shop for the Winter. Any information you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Keep the hits coming.
Soooooo how does it pull on the street AWD vs RWD? In my experience AWD cars don't seem to push you in the seat nearly as hard as RWD cars. I've been in a few RWD cars that I know are slower and make less power but they "feel" faster because you can just feel the front end pulling up.
Did I ever tell you about the guy who brought me his AWD F32 that was missing the right front drive shaft? Clearly someone had hit it with xdelete to make it RWD, and sold it to this poor guy.. literally the drive shaft was missing.
the result differences is probably in the dyno. your drivetrain costs you HP and TQ. AWD has more drivetrain to turn around. When all the wheels are back on the ground. The FWD-train propelled again true the asphalt
Hahahaha...this is wild! That first 470 pull I was giddy. Heard you guys talking about x delete in previous vids and I had an idea what it was, but have never seen it in action. This is insane... granted I won't be using it on my 340, but still dope.
Hey Bryan, everybody around here only has a dyno for rwd but i have an xdrive with xdelete. Is it safe to run on a dyno and be 100% that the front wheels won’t spin?
@@KiesMotorsports would be excellent for a future video, down in South Africa 1.8km above sea level we typically get around 232kw and 470nm at the wheels stock

If you never tried xdelete I definitely recommend it!! I have an e60 535i with n54 full bolt ons..in the process of upgrading the fuel system to run more e85!
I know the answer is late, but the only thing xDelete does is open the clutch which sends power to the front when you go 180kmh/110mph, xDrive automatically opens the clutch constantly and only closes when needed, because the power gets distributed better, meaning that your BMW already goes full RWD after a certain speed so its safe to constantly put it in RWD, just keep in mind that you can damage your xDrive when the thread difference of your tires in the front and back are too high
Bryan, does the xDelete let you specify how much torque, % wise, is applied to the rear vs the front wheels with the app? Bmws are typically 40/60 front/rear. If you could modify the torque settings, maybe there is a sweet spot where power and torque is optimized across the front and rear for best performance. Im also assuming, bmw already figured that all out. Just curious. Great video!
Not for a f3x - maybe with the new xdrive systems ? This is an on /off switch it just decouples the clutch packs in the transfer case to ‘disconnect’ the front

Its doesnt make any more HP, what it does do is remove some parasitic drivetrain loss, so you're not wasting power moving the front differential, the amount of power put out by the engine remains the SAME.
