NASCAR there is 3 pedals in the drivers controls. Horiday could have slowed down but he used 8 tires to make sure he didn't hit the wall. So yeah he got what anyone else would have done to solve his issues and coat him his championship run. He should have been looking at the bigger picture instead of forcing the issue with Kyle.
