I love, love stardew. But I’ve been playing Sun Haven and I gotta say I love it just as much. They both have pros and cons that fill in where the others don’t. Like Sun Haven is more plot oriented, but the characters don’t feel as unique as Stardew.
I always try not to judge indie games too much for their price. The publisher's cut, distributor cut, and development costs all have to be factored in. At the end of the day, I think it's a good thing for developers to be able to get filthy rich when they make a great game. Also, if $25 gets me a game I'll enjoy for 100 hours, that is some very cheap entertainment.
Yeah true, I think I’ve been spoiled by ConcernedApe with Stardew Valley being only $15 lol. He signal handedly created a game with hundreds upon hundreds of hours of replay-ability & constant FREE updates with extra content. With Mail Time only having about 3 hours of playtime with zero replay-ability, I just couldn’t really justify that.
I've been playing Sun Haven for ~50 (game) days now and my biggest con is the multiplayer support. I play with my wife a lot and when we are together one of us is just standing around doing nothing when the other person is doing a quest encounter. Just last night she was doing the Glorite Crystals quest where you go up against the bandits. I've got lvl 30 combat and could have fried them in one shot, but even though we were in the same area all I could see was her hopping around and getting beaten up.
Honestly, the stamina bar becomes a non-issue in Stardew pretty quickly. once you have cheese you have plenty of stamina food, and your bar gets huge after the stardrops. I find myself never coming close to running out of stamina , and just running out of time. I Love that you can make the days longer.
There are more clothes, yes. You can buy them in the shops. In the forest city, it is already unlocked, but in Sun Haven you have to remodelate it first
I tried Stardew Valley several times but never got through the first few hours because it just wasn’t clicking for me and I didn’t want to force it. I literally just started this game, and I’m already obsessed. The explicit fantasy elements and slightly different style is just really doing it for me 😅
Another awesome thing is, you can change your character's looks and race anytime at the Barber i think xD Havent played it but saw someone mentioned about this.
My favourite part of Sun Haven is all the progression from the different skills. I hope they add more variety and more efficient productive spells in the future.
Honestly I absolutely love everything about Sun Haven. I’ve never played Stardew. Any chance I could get an opinion of the differences between the two and why I may like Stardew more compared to Sun Haven or even the new Fae Farm coming up? Any opinions appreciated 💞 TY!
I'm down for paying more, but my major question is whether or not Sun Haven has modding capability -- I'll check Nexus, but really the reason Stardew Valley has dominated my free time is its modding/expansion options. BTW, your channel is excellent and I love your content!
Great video mriz! I really enjoyed the concise information and structure of the video. I was looking for a game to hold my fiancé and I over for a few weeks until the new zelda game comes out and I think we will really enjoy this one together. We used to play sdv online together 5 years ago when we were long distance so I think this will bring back some memories and nostalgic feelings.
It's good to see the customization got boosted shortly after your video came out, the loading sounds weird. Had it on my wishlist but not been able to get it just yet ^^; Defo looks like I will get it when I am able.
I hate to say it but all your pros make me want the game less. I'm kind of sad there isn't at least an option for stamina as I felt it made things far more important and impactful in SDV. I also would like to have genders for my characters. I know these are my own preferences, but there it is.
you have mana, which is use to use spells, and because its too much things to do, you need to use them to do faster, would prefer use watercan, or just use rain cloud which water 5x10 sqm at once, and in this you have the limitation, but imagine doing the stuff without mana and handle 3 diferent farms, its almost impossible(if is fulled)
I’m enjoying the game so far and at first it was overwhelming because there’s so much you can do. I will say the cons are that on the PC it’s pretty buggy, I often have to restart the client because it freezes a lot. I also find that time passes by incredibly fast and I almost feel like it’s not enough time to really do much per day.
not sure if you already know but if u go into the setting(or maybe options can’t remember exactly) tab on ur game u can change the days to last 45 minutes each so it goes a bit slower!! (still not slow enough for me but i’m just a perfectionist)

agreed, my partner and i started playing multiplayer together recently and it could definitely be better optimized!
As a lover of Stardew, it can be hard to get into games that feel similar, but maybe I’ll give it another shot! Love the informative video style!!!

stardew is simpler and easier on the mind personally, but just as fun and immersive and plenty room for creativity
