      @@traceyxxrose7454if you still have doubts about this game just don't, IT'S A MUST BUY seriously all the content this game has it's absolutely amazing, the amount of hours I spent on this game were as magical as Stardew Valley, leaving other things in the daily basis just to play this game a little longer because I just couldn't get enough, there is some things Sun Haven does better than Stardew Valley with pain in my heart but I must say it, Infinite stamina, lots of more places to visit, pets, decorations, more objects to craft, use, expanded skills, items to use, 3 Farms, 3 Houses, right now the only reason Im not playing it it's because the lack of recent content updates, I think the last one was from july or something but I would comeback whenever a new updates drops so I can be happy again, because I have more than 170+hours at least that for me it's a lot

      @@traceyxxrose7454the only thing missing could be the ost in general, let's say that Stardew Valley OST is absolutely GOATED 10/10 while Sun Haven is 9/10 it's pretty good, but It needs some love sometimes, tho, some songs of Sun Haven are at Stardew Valley OST level of godly like almost all Nel Vari songs and some character unique songs

    The way that i see is that Sun Haven is like Stardew Valley with ton of revamp. Applying magic in such a unique way that you would like to unlock ton of spell that would help you in farming. One distinctive feature from Sun Haven is that i don't seem to find energy mechanic after watching Sun Haven gameplay so you could technically 24/7 work out without tired but the cost of this feature is taht the animation is so slow that you need to upgrade it or use spell for efficiency
    Other thing that i like is taht there is increase maximum mana/hp/attack permanently by eating food or drinking potion. The catch is its a diminishing return so that after ton of the same food being eaten it would give less permanent stat bonus. What i like is that it make the player engange in cooking more because what i have seen in stardew valley is that i would not cook ton of food if my cheese is enough to keep my character full.
    Ton of the thing have improve and provide a uniquely way of "Stardew Valley feeling" that i feel diverse into a new world. I would like to have a run in this game when i have enouh money to buy it in steam. Overall its a 9/10 game compare to "Stardew Valley type" game

    I've been super torn if I wanted to try this game out or not, especially since I am one of the rare folks who haven't played stardew yet oTL -- I've been seeing sun haven around alot recently, and there is just something about the artstyle, magic and mounts that makes me feel more pulled towards it than stardew. Watching this video was a huge help and I am gonna go for it and buy this game first before stardew (yey for the sale going rn). Thank you for the sweet and honest review 💖 maybe after playing this (depending if I like the farming sim aspect of it) I'll finally end up trying stardew as well, haha.. 😹

    Your review was great and definitely explained a lot of the game. With the three farms something you can do on multiplayer is split the farms between players. I play with my two friends, and we decide who's going to be at each farm (Typically depending on who we wish to romance) and that play will take care of that farm. We still get together for the events, goofing off or the new Battle arena but it's a way not to be overloaded with work and usually works for our playstyles.

    I like to hunt for achievements on steam and this game has a lot. And most of them are perfectly reasonable. But. There is an achievement each for getting 20 hearts with each of the romanceable characters, like every character has their own achievement for this. Which wouldn't be an issue if you you could get 20 hearts with everyone but you have to MARRY them to even unlock the 20 hearts you need to fill and you can't marry more than one person.
    So you have to marry someone and then divorce them to marry another person over and over if you want all achievements (or you could make like 20 different saves I guess?)

    Recently one of my friends said to try out sunhaven with them. While, we were doing stardew valley. However, seeing the multiplayer issues that seems to be occurring and having no other recent news regarding to it. I’m still on the iffy side.
    The 3 farmlands and the lack of sprinklers, with the bugs of multiplayer makes me question it. Based on the video it would seem the story isn’t too much.
    Although the extensive skill tree and the amazing art seems interesting enough.
    Mainly wanted to see how multiplayer will play out as Stardew Valley have some issues with mp as well.

    I liked how ambitious the game felt with how it had 3 different areas to explore but yes it did somehow feel like it was lacking a lot of things despite being immensely enjoyable. The bugs were also a bit of a problem. idk if they can still do something about the storyline and improve upon it, but I'd like to see more content even if it's already pretty big for a game of its genre. Also wish there was a way to teleport back home though I guess that could also be part of the challenge. Plus we have mounts and the jumping ability anyway. But yeah, same sentiments about the characters being at events even though they're not supposed to be there. I wish they only start appearing only after their storylines have been finished, but I guess that's part of the game they forgot to polish. Regarding farming too, idk if I just haven't explored enough but it's a pain to only have 1 seasonal totem available at the shop to prevent the seasonal pest/problem from appearing on your crops. It's tiring to deal with them especially when you have a large number of crops.

    not great? thats a ridiculous statement. i played stardew first and while it was really fun and a classic, sun haven is like stardew but with everything stardew was missing. its got magic and fantasy, way more customizations, alot more crafting and more crops to farm, more biomes to have a farm in and explore and people in all the different towns/biomes to get to know, way more objectives, more things to do, more complex festivals, better visuals, and not to mention still gets updated and is being worked on quite frequently so even more content is promised in the future. its like stardew if it had more depth. the skill tree is awesome and all the things you unlock and the museum its just all of the things stardew has some of but way more content with it and plus new things stardew never had.

    • @uwumiYT
      @uwumiYT  9 месяцев назад +2

      a lot of that is subjective! my review is by no means meant to state objective facts--just my own thoughts abt the game--and sun haven _to me_ felt like it was rushing to be super extensive, but emphasized quantity over quality and was left without a strong foundation. i have no doubt that with tweaks & updates sun haven will improve overall, but for me, it left a lot to be desired ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ i'm glad you enjoyed it so much though!

    One of the things that struck me the hardest with this game is that compared to Stardew Valley, this has a mobile-style design with a heavy emphasis on grinding and playing more than enjoyment. I like the game overall which I find very odd because that style of game design normally does not click with me at all as the only purpose is to have players play more and invite friends, buy currency, etc. It's usually only a bunch of cheap psychological tricks to earn money from players with no regard for their enjoyment and with the least possible effort.
    For now, it's fine but if one day a patch drops that lets you buy stuff like currency or animals I'll be uninstalling and never opening this game again.

    Really can't compare a young game with an old game like Stardew Valley. Stardew has a very small map and the initial game only focused on the first two years making it a pretty short game. In fact, I mostly played only year 1 and get tired of it after year 1 very quickly. The addition of Ginger Island in 1.5 makes it look like a different game and does not add much to the game which is still pretty much important for year 1 only.

    • @uwumiYT
      @uwumiYT  9 месяцев назад +1

      i agree that it's not necessarily fair to compare the two games (which are at completely different stages of "life", so to speak), but i mostly compare it because of similarities in genre between the two and the familiarity that many already have with stardew in general.
      i would also argue that despite stardew's initial release being short, it made for a strong foundation--it didn't try to do too much too early on, and allowed for good expansion down the line (which shows imo, considering how beloved it is by many today). on the other hand, it felt to me like sun haven devs tried to release their final vision of the game before it was truly ready, and thus doesn't have the same foundation to stand/expand upon. props to them for creating a massive game with lots to explore on (official) release, but it felt unpolished and rushed imo. to each their own though!

    What I didn't like right off the bat was the actual graphic design? The characters are too small. And the font and formatting of the dialogue text makes it feel really amateurish. And for someone who has eywsight issues it's hard to read and has so much open space in the text boxes but it's obvious the devs didn't put too much effort into even this.

      @@neveralone3044 Yeah. Same. And for some reason Lucia's portrait, which is one of the first things you see, really turned me off. The way she was posing and the expression on her face just looked...cheap and disproportionate. They used a lot of colors to make the game world seem good but the basic design was like it was copied off of some obscure MMO. Plus yeah. That UI was driving me nuts. The text isn't even formatted nicely, and that's something that's so easy to do. They probably didn't think it actually mattered, but it does to a lot of folks. It makes the game feel super unpolished and like haphazardly done.

    Oh God, I thought I was the only one who got turned off from the separate town- separate resources thing, as well as the non-existent incorporation of the character's race into the towns.
    It feels so grindy, exhausting and disconnected running back and forth in fetch quests between towns. Like, completely unrelated games, same mechanic ==> Bore you out and demotivate you so fast.
    It's stupid to be an elf/demon, only to be treated as a completely unrelated race in said elf/demon town ==> Then why choose "the race" at all?? Just say choose the occupation and be done with it???

    the backdrop arts of SunHaven is gorgeous but when I starts to sink in 2 hrs of playing, the arts details starts to bother me.
    Stardew arts are simple but modern. While SunHaven looks like old website pluggin games that you play as a kid on your Mom's computer.
    The crafting, quests and items a bit messy looking. And the game kinda throw you in the deep end with barely intro.
    Stardew valley lets you figure out that basic wood and stones are the foundation of the game and only allow you 5 parsnip to start farming while somehow hide the additional farming seeds at a single shop for beginners to stumble upon or getting letters about.
    Sun haven character sprite looks unalive or just not animated enough to look lively. Your character looks the same as in the character choosing menu and as in the overworld once you control him/her.
    Stop playing after 3 hrs and never look back. Too bad can't refund it.
