Hi All, Just pinning this comment since lot of you have commented that you are facing issues while changing the data type of Archive_Date column. I have created a detailed video on how to solve this issue (Link Below). Hope this helps! Thanks for watching! ruclips.net/video/quEN7orGuSA/видео.html
Thank You Soo much for sharing the additional video to solve this issue . I want date in MM-DD-YYY format so used below formula to solve this. Date.FromText(Text.Middle([Archive_Date],3,2) & "-" & Text.Start([Archive_Date],2) & "-" & Text.End([Archive_Date],4)))
Thank you very much. I am new to Power BI. This video helped me to build my first Power BI dashboard and I learned tremendous information in very short time. Thank you for your effort to create this wonderful video. I feel very productive, and my time is well spent.
amazing literally you are so good with your language tone explanation, i created whole project exactly side by side, great learning, please we want more videos
This is great, you have given me a pathway to Power BI. It was a walk-through process, i will be pleased to join your class if available at any time, however be informed that am a newbie on this and ready to learn through
Thank you so much ❤ this is exactly what I'm looking for and I followed all the steps and created dashboard I'm proud to say that i have found excellent power bi dashboard on youtube. Your voice and the way you explained it's so clear and easy to understand for beginners. Thank you for doing these videos. 😍 btw this is my first comment on youtube ever till now . Hope to get response 😁
This is the best video on power bi video ever came across in RUclips which is much more informative and under stable for beginners. Much appreciate work and kudos to pivotalstat👏
Thank you so much for this project.I am happy to announce that I have learnt a lot with this one project. Thank you so much for the detailed Dashboard creation. I have followed the steps and created my first Power BI dashboard. Just a little bit I messed up with specialty names but rest is fine. Thanks a lot.
Excellent video! Opened my eyes to many new BI possibilities and provided a very valuable solution to a problem that I have been trying to solve for over a month. Thank you!
Thanks so much for this content. I hope there more on to come. You have boosted my self-learning Data science journey . I really appreciate ❤️❤️. Please drop more and details ones as this.

Glad that you liked it! Yes only work email can be used to publish the dashboard and you will need a paid license to share it with others. You can create a Microsoft Developer Account or Azure Active Directory to create a work email id. Below is a video on how to do the same. Hope this helps! ruclips.net/video/zYKm8yBewQU/видео.html
I dont know why people think Power bi is also for non-IT background people , because after seeing the dax formula implementation its very hard for any non-IT background people to understand the algorithm ... Although this video is good to go ... Thumbs Up ... And Thank you 🙂
Hi, Trust me its not that difficult. Watch below video. Its a DAX masterclass, and I tried to explain things as simple as possible. All the best ! ruclips.net/video/4rC9Ow76n0U/видео.html
Thank you very much. Your way of teaching is very nice and also the way you have edited the video is quiet good. You gave some very important information through out the video. Subscribed.👍
Thank you for the video, wanted to follow along, but had too many issues with the archive date. Changed from text to date and all rows read "error", found the video with the date formatting and they all showed error again.
Hi, sorry to hear that. As a last resort, you can edit the date column in excel file itself and recreate the date column in excel using functions like "Date". This will ensure that the date created is matching with your current regional settings. Then import it in power bi again. This time it should work!
Hi, this project walk through was amazing. Learned a lot. One thing I am unable to do is, to change the custom tool tip background as per the project background. can you please let me know how can that be done? Thank in advance.
Tool tip background was also created in PowerPoint. In case you want to check the settings, you can download the actual pbix file which I created from my website. www.pivotalstats.com/resources
Oh Great Tutorial For PowerBI Students. But i have problems to typing the Formulas, if any videos Regarding PowerBI formulas. I will be grateful. Thanks
Good job. But you should have disable loading of the Inpatient and Outpatient tables from the Power Query editor before loading all_table to the data model.

Thanks for sharing. I followed along and made the dashboard. What I cant do is change the background of the slicer and make it transparent. Can you show us a way to do it?
Thanks for watching! You can make the slicer transparent by selecting the slicer and the go to visualization panel >> format tab >> general >> effects >> turn off background
Great work !! I am new. you try to make understand by giving details multiple example, I liked that. its very much needed for people like me who are new and learning from zero (0). If you can , make it more easy to understand for new student like me please. Thank you so much. Much appreciated. God bless you !
Hi, the reason why I chose to add Median as well is because I observed that few of the wait list in certain specialty have very high numbers and this can result in a skewed analysis if we consider only Average. Also if you notice we did add Total in our dashboard which is the first 2 metrics on the top left. And since all numbers are interconnected we can see Total numbers at any level.
A truly fantastic video presentation. Beautifully designed Dashboard. Excellent use of the DAX formulas to create the visuals. I really liked the way you used PowerPoint to create the background. Great tips on using Adobe. Simple, yet so effective. This is an extremely good presentation for anyone who wants to learn how to create a well-designed Power BI Dashboard. Thanks Sajit.
Hi, can you tell me your thought process when you created the mapping table for "Specialty" field? what made you think of such filter and how you did it. Thank you for creating the video!
Hi, The only reason for creating a mapping table was to avoid information overload. Showing 50+ specialty in any type of graph will create a cluttered visual which is a bad design choice, especially when we already have a detailed grid view on the next page. Also to answer your question on how I did it. Since I have some previous experience in Healthcare domain, it was just a matter of a google search. Hope this help! Thanks for watching!
The way you taught is amazing good because you are explaining each and everything from the grounded level and explain all the basic requirements that we required and what are the outcomes about this projects? Can you Please make some videos of Powerbi projects? thanks you for you effort and time to make this video.👍👍👌👌
well, it's a good video, make me undestand how to use power BI. but, sometimes i still confuse how to determine a design style that i want to use? can you help me? and why you choose blueprint design for your dashboard?
Hi, There is no fixed rule for finalizing the design. I usually take inspiration from Google or Adobe stock. However the main factor behind the final design will always be your stakeholder. So talk to them on what they want to see in the dashboard before you start designing.
Thank you so much for the videos, they have been incredibly helpful. I'm wondering about the potential for freelancing after learning Power BI. Do you think these skills alone are enough to secure freelance projects? If so, what advice would you give for getting started in this field? Thank you in advance for your guidance!
Hi, Really glad that my content is helping. To be honest I have seen many freelance work where they just need a dashboard prepared using a static data source. But if you truly want to outshine in the freelancing world then you should think about combining this with knowledge in cloud technologies (azure & fabric). So that you are capable of designing the data pipeline and distribution structure as well. All the best !
Really great. Many new things I learned from this video. Completely different way of dashboard preparation and DAX functions I learned. Thank you so much for this video and your hard work!
Loved that this video had a little bit of lot of concepts. One thing I would like to know is what insights can we get from this? After making this dashboard, how do we explain to stakeholders what pattern do we see in the data? Thanks
Hi, Glad to hear that it helped. Now to answer your question, there is no fixed way to derive insights. Below are the few things you can do while analyzing the data. 1. Look the visuals at a high level. i.e. Without applying any filters look at the data distribution. For example, in this case it can be a good point to highlight that Outpatients have the majority share of wait list 2. Once you have checked everything at an high level and identified your major contributors. You can dig deep into them now. For example, you can check Top 5 specialties which contribute to the Outpatients wait list. Also at this stage you can dive into Age Profile as well. Remember to create a PowerPoint 1 or 2 slide which captures all these pointers. With these pointers, Stakeholders can focus their efforts & money on specific Specialty or Age Profile, which creates maximum impact. Hope this helps!
you can show me how to connect share point using power BI and also make some video in power bi service like , datamart, schudle refresh , how to create a mobile app.
Masterpiece!Thank you so much for this detailed project.. Quick question ,under relationship's view we have two speciality_name columns under all data table but when we move onto building visuals,I see only one just below specialty HIPE...please let me know on what transformation you undertook...did you merge or discard the other and if so on what basis? Your response will be highly appreciated!
Really glad that you like the content! There should only be 1 specialty_name column in the final data. I think you might have skipped a transformation step in the Outpatient data where we are renaming "Specialty" to "Specialty_Name". If you skip this step or make a spelling error, power bi will treat Specialty name column from both Inpatient & Outpatients as 2 different columns. Hope this helps!
@@pivotalstats thank you so much!! even i was stuck at this point for an hour... then saw your comment. I had not skipped this step, but the column was renamed w/an extra "i".
Thanks for the fantastic Power BI project! Your hard work and insights were invaluable. Could you share a Data Analyst project using a cloud platform? Your guidance is much appreciated.
Hi, your videos are so informative. Thank you. I have a question, after completing this project how can we put this into a portfolio? Basically, when we want to show these projects on a cv how can we do that? If you can answer this, I'm so greateful. Thank you
@@pivotalstats Thank you. What way do you recommend for putting visualization, as an example, a dashboard? If they add as images,it will effect to the interactivity, isn't it a problem?
Not sure if you are asking the same, but starting from 58:48 I have explained all steps involved in creating the tooltip. Let me know if you are asking about something else...
Hello, I got an error while loading the data visual of PY Latest Month Wait List, from 28:00. The error reads "calculation error in measure "All_data PY Latest wait month list, DAX comparison operations doesnot support comparing values of type text with values of type date. Consider using the Value of Format Function to convert one of the values". Kindly help.
Precise presentation with details but i see while i practice in the Power Query Editor "Archive_Date" column has text data type and when tried changing it wouldn't, Hope you could help!
Thank you so much for this concise video. I made a great dashboard much like yours by following your instructions. Also, I noted that we need to perform more clean up as Age profile is duplicated. Two (0-15)Age_profile exists in the dataset. Could someone also tell me what Time_Band and Total in the dataset mean? It is a little difficult for me to interpret the main ideas if I do not comprehend these two characteristics. Thanks in advance.
Glad it helped! Yes you are correct, Age profile also need some cleaning. The data contains Patient Waiting List for a group of hospitals in Ireland. Total is the total number of patients and Time band is the time they have been in the wait list for getting a certain treatment. Hope this helps!
Great video btw. I ran into a problem at my end the tooltip graph isn't visible while having over the data points of the Outpatient graph it's just empty and I went and rechecked all the steps but still cannot seem to get it visible. I checked for spelling mistakes, columns and other settings.
@@pivotalstats Can you please tell me exactly what I should look for ? If I select " Inpatient " from filters of the graph kya working then but that beats the point having exclusively an outpatient graph.
thank you so much for the tutorials. there is null value (blank) in Speciality_Name when has append queris as new, why? can you please let me know how can that be done? Thank in advance.
Hey man, You have a nice content and thanks for the practice data, i have only one complaint that you don't explain the concepts in detail, so just work on it, otherwise it's good.
Thank you for this project it was so helpful. I have a question, I noticed I keep getting blanks in specialty_Name at the point you want to filter for top 5. is there a reason is so?
Hi! You mentioned the reason to add the "MEDIAN" filed alongside "AVERAGE" field is because the data has some "OUTLIERS". I wan't to understand whether these outliers are the one's in the "TOTAL" column or you are referring to something else?
Hi, Yes I was referring to Total column. In few specialties the total number is very high and because of that if you look at average at an aggregated level then it might not be make sense. So its just an additional option that we are giving to the user for better analysis.
Hi, yes you can refer to below 2 videos. Also I have not created any video specifically for PL300 but if checkout my entire power bi playlist then that should be enough ruclips.net/video/4rC9Ow76n0U/видео.html ruclips.net/video/KmZipfYy3QQ/видео.html
you are a wonderful lecturer, just one question, when i append the 2 tables, so i get 2 Case_Type columns and when i try to make a donought chart, it shows me outpatient and Blank legends only, what shall be my plan of action be? #thanks for the support, looking forward to more projects by you
Thanks for the appreciation! The problem you are facing is most probably because, while creating the "Case_Type" column in the Outpatient data, you might have made any of the below mistakes: 1. Difference in Spelling 2. Extra Space in the Name i.e. "Case_Type " or "Case Type" 3. Column name in small case i.e. "case_type" Basically this issue happens when Power Bi is not able to find the column with the same name and consider the column as a new column. That is why you see 2 columns for Case_Type. Hope this helps!
Half a way I realised you have kept the date format as text and I dont know how to change. Got stuck with it. Can you guide how to transform the date in the power query?
For my instance, Copilot pointed me to this resource which solved the "Archive_date" issue for me: ruclips.net/video/6S29m0oR6EI/видео.htmlsi=-Ssu97a8CZCGdeOy
Great tutorial! I have a formatting-related question: is it possible to set the order of something like the months on the x-axis of the barchart? For example, 0-3 Months, 3-6 Months, ..., 18+ Months, rather than 18+ Months showing up first?
Thanks! Yes you can do that. Simplest way is to add a new custom column in your table for example TimeBandSorting and then create conditions like If TimeBand = "0-3" then 1 else if TimeBand = "3-6" then 2. etc.. Do this all the way up to 18+. Then come back to the reporting view, select TimeBand column from the Data panel on the right and then go to Column tools >> Sort By Column >> TimeBandSorting. Finally select your bar chart visual and click on the 3 dots icon on the top right and select "Sort Axis by" >> TimeBands. Choose Ascending or Descending accordingly. This should sort everything properly. Hope this helps!
Thank you so much, this is very informative. I have question, that when I was going to Transform the data the "Archieve_Date" was on Text format. So I changed it to Date/Time, but it giving me an error, I tried to continue by not changing the data type, but it doesn't give me the results as expected. Can you give me an answer regarding this? Thank you.
Hi, I have received lot of comments regarding this same issue. You can watch below video which explains on how to solve this. Thanks! ruclips.net/video/quEN7orGuSA/видео.html
Great Video!! Loved creating this dashboard along with the video. Just one doubt, I'm not able to sort the x-axis in bar diagram, the time band is not getting sorted on the x-axis of that bar diagram as you've shown in the report. I tried creating a new index column where i calculated the values as if timeband "0-3",1, if timeband "3-6",2...."7". But it is throwing circular dependency error while sorting the timeband column with this newly created index column. Could you/someone please share how can we sort the axis properly?
Awesome. Instead of creating a index column, create a new table with unique timebands and sorting index. Relationships will automatically establish with ur main table. Then u can use timeband from this new column. Hope this helps!
Amazing video. Very well explained. I had a question - If we select "Average" filter then in Donut chart the "Overall" value shows "54", but individual values by case type are 80,19 & 12 whose average comes out to be 37. Could you please advise on this?
Thanks! The reason you see that difference is because 54 is the monthly average of all the numbers in the data. Its not the average of 80,19,12 because these itself are the monthly averages of each case type. Hope this helps!
@@pivotalstats Understood. Thanks! Also I was wondering as to what the "Time bands" indicate? Is it for how long a patient has been on waitlist or something else, as I believe understanding this would help in generating meaningful insights.
I just loved the video. it is very useful... Your explanation is on point. Request you to create end to end project with a complex database which involves using simple as well as complex DAX queries. Also if you could create projects involving SQL queries as well. Thank you in advance. Waiting for more project videos.

❤ new subscriber brother. Thank you for this free online tutorial. Will watching your other videos in the following days.
Welcome aboard! :)
Really great. Many new things I learned from this video. Completely different way of dashboard preparation and DAX functions I learned. Thank you so much for this video and your hard work!
Thank you so much, really glad it was helpful!
What a fantastic and informative video!
Every minute of the video was worth watching. Thank you so much for your efforts! Keep it up!!!
Thank you :)
For example, in this case it can be a good point to highlight that Outpatients have the majority share of wait list
@@pivotalstats Thank you!
I really appreciate your work! This tutorial was super helpful, thank you!
Happy to hear that! Thanks for watching:)
This video is fantastic. Very informative!
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching!
its was nice teaching about dashboard , thank you for good teaching.
eager to see more videos.
Glad you liked it
you can show me how to connect share point using power BI and also make some video in power bi service like , datamart, schudle refresh , how to create a mobile app.
Sure, ill create something soon. Meanwhile you can check out the GCP BigQuery SQL playlist.
Yes please do a SQL project!!! this video has been of great help sir thank you :)
👍
Hi, your videos are so informative. Thank you. I have a question, after completing this project how can we put this into a portfolio? Basically, when we want to show these projects on a cv how can we do that? If you can answer this, I'm so greateful. Thank you
Hi, You can put your project on github and include that link in your cv and also on your LinkedIn profile. All the best!
@@pivotalstats Thank you. What way do you recommend for putting visualization, as an example, a dashboard? If they add as images,it will effect to the interactivity, isn't it a problem?
1:00:56 where did you get the outpatient tool tip and what all parameters you have added kindly help
Not sure if you are asking the same, but starting from 58:48 I have explained all steps involved in creating the tooltip. Let me know if you are asking about something else...
I usually dont comment on videos, but i couldnt do the same on this one, what a class jesus christ, you're the goat!!
Thank you so much for the appreciation! Made my day :)
Fully agree! Super Sajit
Hello,
I got an error while loading the data visual of PY Latest Month Wait List, from 28:00. The error reads "calculation error in measure "All_data PY Latest wait month list, DAX comparison operations doesnot support comparing values of type text with values of type date. Consider using the Value of Format Function to convert one of the values". Kindly help.
It seems your archive date column is not in a date format. Check out 10:40 , where I briefly touch this topic.
@@pivotalstats Thank you, i appreciate a lot.
Precise presentation with details but i see while i practice in the Power Query Editor "Archive_Date" column has text data type and when tried changing it wouldn't, Hope you could help!
Hi, Below video will explain in detail on how to solve this issue
ruclips.net/video/quEN7orGuSA/видео.html
@@pivotalstats Thank you
Great video btw. I ran into a problem at my end the tooltip graph isn't visible while having over the data points of the Outpatient graph it's just empty and I went and rechecked all the steps but still cannot seem to get it visible. I checked for spelling mistakes, columns and other settings.
Hi, it might be because of the specialty group mapping table. Check that for any inconsistencies. Hope that helps!
@@pivotalstats Can you please tell me exactly what I should look for ? If I select
" Inpatient " from filters of the graph kya working then but that beats the point having exclusively an outpatient graph.
It is very clear, thanks for this great video!
You are welcome!
thank you so much for the tutorials. there is null value (blank) in Speciality_Name when has append queris as new, why? can you please let me know how can that be done? Thank in advance.
I think you missed a step where we use the specialty mapping table
Thank you so much. Learned a lot from your toturials.
Glad I could help!
Please add few more tutorials . it was very helpful

Really appreciates your effort and very informative. Thank You
Glad it was helpful!
Hey man, You have a nice content and thanks for the practice data, i have only one complaint that you don't explain the concepts in detail, so just work on it, otherwise it's good.
Thanks for the feedback buddy. noted !
Thank you for this project it was so helpful. I have a question, I noticed I keep getting blanks in specialty_Name at the point you want to filter for top 5. is there a reason is so?
I think you must have missed the step where we use the specialty mapping. It should solve that problem. Hope this helped!
@@pivotalstatsUnderstood. Thank you for the clarification!
This is awesome! Best PowerBI video I've seen!
Thank you so much!
Do you have videos specifically on Dax and modeling? Also do you have a video on how to study for PL 300?
Hi, yes you can refer to below 2 videos. Also I have not created any video specifically for PL300 but if checkout my entire power bi playlist then that should be enough
ruclips.net/video/4rC9Ow76n0U/видео.html
ruclips.net/video/KmZipfYy3QQ/видео.html
Very organized and helpful
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching!
you are a wonderful lecturer, just one question, when i append the 2 tables, so i get 2 Case_Type columns and when i try to make a donought chart, it shows me outpatient and Blank legends only, what shall be my plan of action be?
#thanks for the support, looking forward to more projects by you
Thanks for the appreciation!
The problem you are facing is most probably because, while creating the "Case_Type" column in the Outpatient data, you might have made any of the below mistakes:
1. Difference in Spelling
2. Extra Space in the Name i.e. "Case_Type " or "Case Type"
3. Column name in small case i.e. "case_type"
Basically this issue happens when Power Bi is not able to find the column with the same name and consider the column as a new column. That is why you see 2 columns for Case_Type.
Hope this helps!
Lots of love Big respect Sir , First time feeling time gone worth on Power bi Project
Thank you so much!! Really glad it was helpful :)
Half a way I realised you have kept the date format as text and I dont know how to change. Got stuck with it. Can you guide how to transform the date in the power query?
Check out this video, this will help u out

Thanks for the response! I'll try that out
Thank you so much, this is very informative.
@@pivotalstats thank you so much for your quick reply. I'm learning a lot through your videos. Keep the good work up. Thank you.
@@pivotalstats Thanks a lot, Worked perfectly!
Thank you sir for your sharing and useful information
Welcome 👍
@@rajpadwekar5974 Yes you are correct, Time Bands indicates how long a patient has been on a waitlist on a given date.
