We did lasagna method. I laid down newspaper and cardboard and then built my beds on top with dirt/compost/straw/leaves and it's doing well. Most of the only weeds I have are stuff coming in from the edges because I didn't get nearly enough wood chips for the paths.
I can tell you I have the hardest clay you can imagine. Put down drip tape, then rabbit poo, then cardboard then wood chips. Now I can pull the mulch back, dig 8 " down with my hand into deep soil full of worms and life
its on backward. the ditch check will fit better when the water forces it. against the concrete. i irrigated for the first time this morning and had to call in a double check which direction it needs to face. my neighbors use old carpet and rugs to try and seal all the leaks..
You need to get a rubber gasket placed around the three edges of the ditch check. Kevin may be able to do that. He seems like he's pretty handy. There are places that will also do the gasket. Higley Feeds on Higley and Williams Rd. or Fuller Forms in south Phoenix.
You guys are rocking it! Great video! Cant wait to see what happens with that in ground garden area once you get some cover and water on it! God Bless!
Puppy fun!! My oldest Lhasa girl loves to play with puppies - she used to get super annoyed when her pups tired out and wanted me to wake them up! Three years back when her daughter had pups she wanted to get into the pen and clean the tiny babies while momma fed them! Eventually she taught her grand puppy kids how to play and even now plays like a baby herself! People find it hard to believe she's almost 10 years old! Lol
Like your videos. I've been garden forking in compost, heavy with Biochar mixed / activated with worm castings, right where I'm planting. Not turning the soil, but just filling the void / holes. Kinda labor intensive, but after 3 applications of the char. I won't ever have to mess with it again. Hopefully. Add red wrigglers worms for the top and European night crawlers, to bust up the clay. Heavy on the mulch. I've also heard recently to add clay to your compost. Makes it last longer. Am trying it now. Smiles. And keep up the video's. Thanks.
I live in the Texas panhandle and our soil is " cleechy " not sure I spelled it right. We would have to soak the soil for days to soften it enough to work it and we would have to work fast. Too wet and it would cling to everything in clumps. It would dry out fast and go back to cement. We would have to water frequently and hoe it daily, just to keep it loose.
Garage is looking good. Was wondering was it Jason that you were talking about watching from the homegrown food summit? That's who I thought you were talking about in your email. He had a lot of info. Can't wait for your turn.
As a Dane I was thinking the same! That is just too hot, I don't understand how that's even possible. At 78 ºF I'm already like "ok sun, that's enough, thanks!".
Its funny that you're transitioning to in the ground gardening when I'm contemplating experimenting with a sort of raised bed method in my garden. I have filmed but not yet posted my method for getting compost to turn quickly. If this peaks your interest reply and I'll make it a higher priority to edit the film and post.
To heal your thumb faster you could take Dr. Christopher's complete bone and tissue and you can also see about finding some comfrey as it heals really really well and quite quickly.
When In Idaho the puppy has the same genetics as the mom.. if the mom had birthing problems the puppy would automatically be more susceptible to having the same issue.. it would not be beneficial to a breeding program to keep her
A couple of things....1. I love the way you say pecans & not "P"-cans 🤣 drives me crazy when people say it the other way! & 2. If you haven't already purchased carriage door faux brackets, take a look at just using black vinyl decals to give the same look & maybe cheaper? Ive seen people do the same on Pinterest! Love your videos!!
What part of Az are you guys in? Im from New River Az, I live in mesa now in an apartment with my wife and kids. We are looking for land to start our own farm do you have any recommendations?

Oh gosh the puppy fishing was just too adorable❣🐶 Love hang dried clothing it smells so good. Good Luck with your in ground planting.
Thanks!
3-5 inches of wood chips are your best solution. You will have amazing soil. Go for it!

I hope the garden works out for you. It would certainly expand your growing area quite a bit. Plus you are so good at growing things 😊
love the garage doors. pups are sooooooo cute. have a great day.

Love all the goats ❤️
So admirable, wish I had a couple child labor units
As a Canadian, I would die in 93º. That is hot.
I don't live in Canada but I do live in Seattle, Washington so I am NOT used to hot temps. I much prefer rainy days.
As a Dane I was thinking the same! That is just too hot, I don't understand how that's even possible. At 78 ºF I'm already like "ok sun, that's enough, thanks!".
Try 135
Do you think the back to eden garden method would work there?! That would continue to make the soil better and better!
didnt you see the videos? It works.

That pecan tree looks like neem tree . Doesn't it ?
just try it in different spots, looks like ur concrete is off abit from the water.
Jeff Lawton greens the desert without tilling!
Are you going to keep them😍🐩🐕
Yes it's possible if you use enough mulch.
What king of edible flowers do you have
They are called edible winter pansies -- they're all dying out now:)
Are they like a little spicy cause we had ones that yours but different and ours were a little bit spicy but pretty
*like
Are they like a little spicy cause we had ones that yours but different and ours were a little bit spicy but pretty
Not spicy
consider using duct tape for your thumb instead of the white bandage. duct tape fixes all.
if you can get free water in the desert then do so.
I am a big fan of duct tape!
Are yo going to keep the female puppy so Lydia can continue her breeding program?
To heal your thumb faster you could take Dr. Christopher's complete bone and tissue and you can also see about finding some comfrey as it heals really really well and quite quickly.

She's just too tiny:) We're still deciding on if we're selling here, but if we kept her, we wouldn't breed her.

We're in the east valley. A neighborhood with irrigation makes it nice.
Name the girl " lovey".
