Jay I am happy that you have found your “nirvana” for audio. Your hard work, dedication, and persistence has paid off. Keep-up the great work and thanks for your inspiration.
Jay, I bought a pair of Wilson Sabrina X speakers in November for a small family room system I have. I have enjoyed them so much that I just ordered a pair of Alexx V speakers to replace the Revel Salon2 speakers I have in my main listening room. I am very excited to get them! The XVX is at a level I don’t think I will ever reach!, but you never know. 😊 Congratulation Jay!
I get to hear all the Wilson speakers at my local dealer in Berkeley California, and they all sound spectacular to me. I've owned my Revel Salon 2 speakers for several years now, and these speakers perform at such a high level of proficiency, from top to bottom (in my smaller room, too), I can't imagine attempting to replace them, especially for the $$$$. The Revel Salons are phenomenal speakers, as well. However, I just love our wonderful, deep pocketed, Audiophiles who continue to keep the pre-owned market nicely stocked for us less well heeled Audiophiles.
Great stuffJay, and thanks again for all of the hard work. I don’t know why anybody would think that someone with an opportunity to acquire the XVX wouldn’t. It was fascinating to hear your-plans for the speaker, maybe dCs will reclaim its crown. I’m looking forward to the analog-digital shootout.
Now, that's my kind of speaker, Jay!!! Big-time, ball-busting, rip-your-face-off, speakers. These Wilson speakers are just incredible!!! You're killing it, Jay!!!
I’d love to heat Chocolate Chip Trip on this system. It most likely would get snagged for copyright violation, but it would certainly be an experience!
it will be very interesting to have Wilson come over and do their setup (which I believe they do for owners)? Compare their placement with you intuitive placement, maybe your thoughts on their method.
Hi Jay, been following your channel since you started. Did you ever think you would end up at this level of equipment? Truly impressive. Don’t forget it’s your channel, your Hi-Fi equipment, your money, your journey. No complaints on whatever equipment you choose, you long since went way beyond the level of equipment that I could afford to purchase.
Wow, congratulations. What a marvellous system. I can only imagine what it must sound like in the flesh. I have been a Wilson loyalist for two decades. Enjoy every second of your piece of heaven Jay.
I’m loving this! I think they are one of the coolest speakers made ever to be honest. Looking forward to all the gear changes and how these speakers reveal it all. Interested also to see how less priced equipment will fare here lol
I was never a Wilson hater but when I first started hearing about them some 25 years ago I struggled to even find a set to listen to and when I did it seemed they were always poorly set up as if those who were buying them just bought them because of the name. When I finally got to listen to a pair properly implemented I understood the hype and since their evolution under the guidance of Daryl each time I've heard Wilson's, yes, including the XVX that I have heard multiple times now I think they are truly deserving of being ranked among the worlds best. Too many high end speakers go for what many refer to as audiophile sound. A type of sound that is overly pristine and polished and not very realistic. Wilson did that for years as well. Now they sound as close to real music as a speaker has gotten so far. Other makes do this quite well, too but pretending Wilson doesn't belong in the elite of the elite is just lying to yourself.
Maybe something changed last 4-5 years. In the past I listened various Wilson’s many times. Not even once they reminded me real life ‘being there’ music events.
You are the captain of this particular ship, so all of the haters and doubters really need to take a few deep breaths and chill out! The Chronosonic XVX has been extensively reviewed and found to very special and extraordinary. Comments like " the best sound I've ever had in this room", are made by experienced, highly respected professionals. I'm not saying that everyone should like Wilson products, just agree that you've made an inspired choice, based upon many years of experience and critical listening.
Hey Jay, Can you experiment with a longer balanced interconnect on one channel to the amp to see what happens to the imaging? I am having to go to an asymmetrical system setup due to room limitations and would like to know if a difference can be heard on your transparent system. I will have a 16 ft. length on one channel and a 6 ft. length on the other... preamp to amp. Wondering if I will have to buy a 16 ft. pr. with 10 ft. of extra cable laying on the floor. Thansk Jay! keep doing what you're doing. Love it.
Congratulations Jay..these speakers are the best you have had in your room...placement and tweaking driver alignment are critical to getting the best performance out of these speakers
All speakers need careful placement and tuning either room accoustics/issolators/cables and more. It took me many months to tune my speakers to the room. The guys who set them up were fine , but could not devote the time needed. You are correct about cable length. I also found that even a couple of inches forward or backward on one speaker makes a huge difference. Sound travels at a finite speed and the delay distorts the balance. I hope you enjoy and wish you well.
Jay....Those guys who hate in comments are just jealous and envious of your system. No knocks here Jay just congrats 👏. All of us have a different audio journey. Glad you made yours and thanks for including us.
Appreciate your honesty Jay and looking forward to hearing about your experience with these babies. If you buy Wilson speakers from an authorised dealer in UK, part of the deal is they will always come and set them up. If you buy XVX I would hope they send Peter McGrath himself to do it! Is that not the same in US?
You're crazy like me, that's why I love your videos and respect your decisions. Our passion is great and worth every moment of our lives. Regards, Arthur.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences. What music genre do you feel plays best with Wilson in general? I am considering the Yvette but listen to a wide range of music from rap to mainstream pop and a lot of reggae. Will Wilson be able to handle that level of musical diversity? I like good strong bass.
The pep talk is appreciated, Jay. And there's nothing wrong with rice and beans - they're quite healthy actually. :) Btw, please try the following two DACs: Aries Cerat and the DAC that OCD Mikey is always pimping - the Playback Designs MPD-8 coupled with their new pre-DAC component that cleans up the signal before feeding the DAC. Speaking of DAC feeders, did you see that MSB has come out with their own device that cleans up the signal before sending it to the DAC? I think it's called the Digital Director. You should see if adding it to your MSB DAC makes it more competitive with your analog rig.
@@mikelautermilch8939 I heart it get beaten by a much cheaper COS Engineering dac, in an A-B comparison using identical components, on Mikey's own system. The shortcomings I'm pretty sure I noted on that video. :)

I really liked the personal revelation and also the example of inspiration you provided at the end. I have found jealousy can lazily be used to hate, but its much better to use it to be inspired to achieve for ourselves that which we are jealous of!
BTW Jay, please consider trying the bass port on the rear of the speakers. If I remember correctly, it'll ad an extra dimension to your listening experience 😊
These require a lot of experimentation to get setup right. I’d personally move them much closer to front wall unless he’s muted the ambiance tweeter. Any speaker with rear firing ‘ambiance’ tweeter or dipole needs to be closer to rear wall to avoid a time alignment issue. I’d start at 30” from front wall, then experiment with toe-in and acoustic diffusers on side walls. Then and only then move fore-aft in 2-3” increments
Hi Jay, great channel. I think in 8 months the title will be why did I sell it. Your searching for the sound grail. Unfortunately we will never find it. Keep up the good work and look at the real problem, the endless poor quality recording source material.
I am curious what the white strips are between the mid and tweeter, and between the bottom section and the mid bass driver? I can't see the areas well enough to identify the material.
Jay, they are YOUR speakers, on YOUR room, payd with YOUR money, this is YOUR channel, so do not justify yourself so much. haters are gonna hate. Screw them. Enjoy your new toy.
Good Day Jay, as you mentioned in your video up coming to your announcement what loudspeaker it is,you have 2 years ago already this product on your list. Is this product the end of your journey in loudspeakers? What is beyond those Wilson speakers?
Good luck on your journey, you should be able to learn a lot. Remember you can advise with speaker differences relative to room situations similar to your room, but not smaller or larger scenarios. It would not be apples to apples for other folks with different scenarios.
I agree, everyone can agree it’s a special speaker. I’m not sure what microphone setup you have, and maybe you have already, but you really should put together something proper and that costs a little something and that’s quality. If you can manage a real stereo mic setup. That’s the best we will get to hearing what these are like, and also if you do A/B tests, with headphones on our end, we can try to follow along and get a better sense of what you’re hearing in your room coming off a good mic setup 👍
Couldn't have made a better choice..how about we throw in a couple of Thors hammers in matching paint while you've got the checkbook open...love your channel Jay...
Jay, congrats on your new speakers! Before your try your Transparent Opus cables, don’t forget to send them to be adjusted to the impedances of your new speakers, amps and other components. Transparent cables seem to have a special magic with Wilson speakers. Cheers.
@@jaysaudiolab Ok, I believed they were adjusted for the impedances in both ends. So I guess you already sent them to adjust for the new monoblocks, and also the interconnects for the new preamp, and other components.
Impressive, no doubt. Wilson always seems to get it right! Are they right/left specific? Are you not a fan of horn speakers? I don't think I have ever seen horns in your studio. Maybe I am not watching enough? I don't have a specific preference. They both have their place. Panels are out! Check out Danley Synergy Horns! Interesting design. Not for home use, but interesting tech.
The XVX uses same 25mm silk dome ScanSpeak sourced tweeter as Alexa V, only it employs a 2nd in rear firing setup. I believe every current Wilson speaker uses the same 25mm ScanSpeak driver
Jay have you checked out the CODA CONTINUUM 8 amplifier I’m thinking about purchasing it and would appreciate your input. As well as the Prima Luna evo 400 preamp. My other choice is Anthem STR preamp and amplifier. Thanks Dave
I like my $10K sound system and my Sony Oled will be here Tuesday and my birthday is Wednesday. It's the simple things in life that can make you feel better.
You are doing something unique. You will always open yourself up to criticism. This is human nature. That doesn't mean I'm not interested in what you're doing here. Keep it up for the rest of us voyeurs. :)
Longer powercords Jay will give you a smoother sounds than shorts one, thats why some brands only sells 2 meter powercords like Shunyata and Transparant.
@@KT88gs There are built power cords that are in REALITY RIDICULOUSLY more advanced that also deliver far better quality of power than ANY Nordost or Any other Brand for that matter. It is hard to understand that supposedly smart people fall for the sadly jokes of PERFORMANCE that power cords are. People and the industry designers lack REAL advanced performance knowledge and utmost importance discernable differences metrics understanding that leads to the most advanced power cords and their transfer function.

God bless you all 🙏
Nice! But I guess what I'm curious to see is, after you've reached this mountain top pinnacle, what could you possibly review next? I would think that most other speakers would pale in comparison.
Man! If Jay hooked up with Dennis Foley of Acoustic Fields, there would be a drastic improvement in his sound no matter how good it sounds when the work is completed! Jay would have to listen to many of his previous systems over again!
Dennis can't make the room larger, though, which is really what needs to happen. With these massive speakers a much larger room is a better match for them.
@@TheDanEdwards I definitely agree... If Jay would have had Dennis work with him to construct a custom-built music room, that would be the ultimate marriage with his equipment!! But that would also mean tons more money.
@@jaysaudiolab 😄 Very funny but I see you really never keep speakers for too long. I was wondering if like most you will not permanently keep them. I know that your channel is about reviewing though. As far as having all my money ready for them even if I did have the money for them I would not want to spend that amount on a pair of speakers. Not knocking people that do but the return is not worth it to me and excellent built speakers too.
I've heard a handful of Wilson's bigger offerings in the last few years and I'm just not at the stage in my own listening maturity to really appreciate them. I'm still way "down" at the level where things like Klipschorns and JBL L100s make me happiest. The most expensive speakers that I've heard that I really liked were actually Sonus Faber Electa Amator. I'm not even really a fan of the brand or of stand mount speakers. I also really like the sound of the largest McIntosh speakers. In fact, I may be one of the only people around who actually likes the McIntosh loudspeaker line. Going all the way back to the late '70s I liked the way their speakers sound. I live the sound of the XR100. But I think I'd probably still choose a JBL K2 S9900 over McIntosh XRT2 , although I've haven't even heard that JBL in person yet. I just know that the biggest and more expensive I hear from JBL, the more I've liked it in the past. Unless they've changed something, that's likely to be the speaker I'd be most impressed with these days. Nonetheless, those Wilson Chronosomics are amazing! And I suppose you can justify going whole hog on the amplification with those because it won't be wasted. Congratulations on living the high end dream!

Thank you
Great speakers and journey! =) Kudos
Jay, congrats on your new speakers! Before your try your Transparent Opus cables, don’t forget to send them to be adjusted to the impedances of your new speakers, amps and other components. Transparent cables seem to have a special magic with Wilson speakers. Cheers.
Cables don't get adjusted for the speaker. Only the amplifier driving it
@@jaysaudiolab Ok, I believed they were adjusted for the impedances in both ends. So I guess you already sent them to adjust for the new monoblocks, and also the interconnects for the new preamp, and other components.
Using Transparent brand cables?
i like his first class thing
i like this guy not gona lie
Thanks 👍
u moved the amp or the cable to the other speaker?
Both
@@jaysaudiolab did u try to just move the cable by itself? incase its the amp output that is slightly higher?
Impressive, no doubt. Wilson always seems to get it right! Are they right/left specific?
Are you not a fan of horn speakers? I don't think I have ever seen horns in your studio. Maybe I am not watching enough? I don't have a specific preference. They both have their place. Panels are out!
Check out Danley Synergy Horns! Interesting design. Not for home use, but interesting tech.
Every horn-based speaker I have heard had a noticeable sonic signature associated with them.
Lots of dynamic impact, but colored.
Are the XVX using the old tweeter? Only Alexx V and Alexia V using the CSC tweeter?
The XVX uses same 25mm silk dome ScanSpeak sourced tweeter as Alexa V, only it employs a 2nd in rear firing setup. I believe every current Wilson speaker uses the same 25mm ScanSpeak driver
Just had the esoteric here. It's good... Very good.
Hey Jay, did you set them up yourself?
They aren't set up completely yet
Jay have you checked out the CODA CONTINUUM 8 amplifier I’m thinking about purchasing it and would appreciate your input. As well as the Prima Luna evo 400 preamp. My other choice is Anthem STR preamp and amplifier. Thanks Dave
Not yet!
I like my $10K sound system and my Sony Oled will be here Tuesday
and my birthday is Wednesday.
It's the simple things in life that can make you feel better.
Nice
You are doing something unique. You will always open yourself up to criticism. This is human nature. I'm intereste because while I make a damn fine living, no matter how much of an audiophile I may or may not be, I will never do what you're doing. That doesn't mean I'm not interested in what you're doing here. Keep it up for the rest of us voyeurs. :)
Thanks Chris
Longer powercords Jay will give you a smoother sounds than shorts one, thats why some brands only sells 2 meter powercords like Shunyata and Transparant.
Good point
There are power cords that are 1/2 meter that EMBARRASS the common supposed best
@@davidcross890 Nordost give me that information about the length,im a Nordost user myself, they are right.
@@KT88gs There are built power cords that are in REALITY RIDICULOUSLY more advanced that also deliver far better quality of power than ANY Nordost or Any other Brand for that matter. Also at ANY LENGTH built and tested so far they quite frankly embarrass the supposed performance of any power cord tested so far. Other power cords of ANY PRICE simply are lacking in this level of advanced technological development. It is hard to understand that supposedly smart people fall for the sadly jokes of PERFORMANCE that power cords are. People and the industry designers lack REAL advanced performance knowledge and utmost importance discernable differences metrics understanding that leads to the most advanced power cords and their transfer function.
why does the right speaker seam more pulled out into the room ?
Look forward to hear Your experience with the Wilsons! I would recommend you to listen to the Martens Coltrane Momento II loudspeakers if you get a chance. Would love to hear Your opinion!
Congratulations to your new speaker purches they look amazing! You said that you would like to experiment using differert amplifirers and gear i would love to see your impressions if you match these speakers with Spectral Audio amplification and MIT cabeling :-)
And thank you for the great free content you share here on youtube it is very entertaining and you are an inspiring person i can see you take great care of your body your business and im shure you have a loving family as well! God bless you all 🙏
Thank you!
I don't know how you do it ,,,,,, but you did it ,,,,,,,,, I admit it
I explained how I did it 🙂
Where are the magico ?
Nice! But I guess what I'm curious to see is, after you've reached this mountain top pinnacle, what could you possibly review next? I would think that most other speakers would pale in comparison.
Excellent point
Dennis is really expensive.
Are you planning on keeping these or selling them in 6 months?
I am planning on selling them on ebay tomorrow morning. Have your money ready. Reserve price is $2.99
@@jaysaudiolab 😄 Very funny but I see you really never keep speakers for too long. I was wondering if like most you will not permanently keep them. I know that your channel is about reviewing though. As far as having all my money ready for them even if I did have the money for them I would not want to spend that amount on a pair of speakers. Not knocking people that do but the return is not worth it to me and excellent built speakers too.
Jay, thanks for that truth in the last five minutes of your video.
You bet
Congratulations on living the high end dream!
more acoustic panels on the ceiling, would most likely be useful😊🔊
Possibly, I’m sure the rooms been measured. I tried to sell wood ceiling acoustic panels to my wife last night. Didn’t get very far 😊.
Great speakers, but let's hope you don't think they are too big for the room.
We need a video on how to make it in life 😉
