These types of high end comparisons are a great platform to help understand how components perform in your system.
With my system I could immediately hear a better sound stage with the second cable. And Im speaking dimensionality. That what makes your music to sound real and in the room.
Even through RUclips. It’s audible.
Sounds more real, in the room presence.
For me it’s clear. Power cords are great upgrade.
Audio Precision Analysers have $5 kettle cords. Fluke $30,000 multimeters use $2 kettle cords
Nice review Jay. Have a Merry Christmas.
Thanks, you too!
My own experience, over the last year I have inserted various Shunyata cables, Omega and Alpha ( new X ) specifically , they are the real deal, I have over the years tried, Isotek, Synergistic Research and Stealth, and home made cables with Furutech NCF connectors and Nanotec wire, whilst all good, they fall short in comparison to Shunyata, of course this is my own personall opinion and in no way reflects what other people may hear and with using different components
I hear ya, been down that road too.
I though Transparent power cables beat Shunyata on this channel a year or two back?
Thanks for the post, Jay. As always, your efforts are appreciated. If you don’t post again before then, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
You too! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
I do like yout new commentary format! it's like we are in your listening room, in a informal way. Thanks for this video, absolutely interesting, and... marry Christmas!
jay, love the video and more love your new direction on your content .
i changed on my system power cord shunyata sigma nr2 to sigma x and shunyata make big jump between them.
the most change its the upper base and detail and its fill like the new cable more open sound but not arm the darkness thet i love in shunyata cable
It's very easy to hear that something very special is happening with your system!
Long break-in period is required for shunyata power cable. Shunyata is wonderful in full set configuration. Anyway, it seems that shunyata delivers more dense, more informative and colored sound than vanda providing leaner and more reactive sound.
😂😂😂😂
Hey, Jay. Please do a review on Wireworld Platinum electra 10 2 meters and Silver Electra 10 2 meters power cables.
Hi Jay,
Great comparison. The Sigmas definitely need time to sound the best. I have five NR V2 Sigmas in my system and I always experiment that settling effect every time
I remove one to try another PC, even though, my PCs are old and don’t have the QR. Please let us know your opinion after at least 8 hrs.
I will definitely try that, thanks for the tip!
The Shunyata is also silver with copper.
Jay I have tried shunyata and have found I preferred similarity priced p cords from another brand, to my ears they don’t
Project the musical overtones and density that I crave , in your system I preferred the gryphons
I like both Audioquest and Shunyata cords.
Okay, I'm not even gonna super-hate on these "initial non-blind" impressions, but are you going to blind test them with some people that can do the switching for you? That would be a more substantial test.
That last blind test didn't go well 😆
To close to call both great give more time to open up..... love last track marcin.!!! Polish playing the nylon acoustic string guitar playing all the great cover tunes!!!
I listened to your narration at the beginning and the first track for about 1 minute on each cable. On my cell phone I could hear more details on the second power cable. Also more ambient information of the recording space venue.
Strange enough the Shunyata suits more to your system. To me the Shunyata sounds more audiophile, the Gryphon more musical,no big deal this what always what comes up with swapping gear,no big deal, its what suits you the best.
Listening to your presentation through my television, I can hear a distinct difference between both power cords. Normally this is not the case with me.
I prefer the sound of the vantas because they seem to be more open and clear. The Shunyatas come through slightly muffled and lack the excitement that the vantis seem to create.
Hi Jay, thanks for the video. Sorry to say but I would LOVE to listen to this through a better recording system. I watch and listen to your videos through my TV that is connected to my DAC and all my system. Some channel use higher quality recording gear and I can promise you that it sounds a LOT better and we can hear many things happening. Even soundstage changes are audible, even if not as much as in reality. Thank you for your work and see you in the next video
I don't want offend Shunyata cables, but PLEASE try Siltech cables!! You don't know what you're missing.
Here's a suggestion. Have your electrician make up a pair from #8 THHN/THWN in flexible metal conduit and Hubbell connectors. It should not cost much. That's what I'd spec out except thinner #10 would be good enough.
Which is better Shunyata new sigma-x QR or the old Shunyata OMEGA QR ??? 😮
What I don’t understand what are you testing just power cords or speaker cables ? Because in o e part of the sigma-x test you said “speaker cables”
At the moment Vanta gives more music while Sigma X QR is focused on details. So it all comes down to personal preference.
With more burn in time things could change though.
Where is the research that components take time to settle in?🤦🏾
Can you point us to a study?
Black Viking mains power cables destroyed the Gryphons with zero hours of burning in
One of my local dealers just surprised me with an offer to try some of the new Nordost Leif series 3 power cables and an older QBase. The QBase was a bit more bass heavy, but veiled than my Transparent Powerwave 8. The Purple Flare and Blue Heaven power cables reduced the noise and therefore increased detail; however, as their reputation goes: the sound was a bit top down and open, but missing the bottom end. The Red Dawn; however, dropped my jaw and was by far the best and while that should be expected as they are the most expensive, it's nevertheless interesting how sometimes paying more can seem like a better value if the end result is that WOW factor.
I tried the other day the Shunyata sigma-X speaker cables vs nordost tyr2 spkeaker cables and the Shunyata sigmas DESTROYED the nordost by miles away! Shunyata is tons superior
@andresco50 I think I will have to try them again! I tried the Anaconda a few years back and didn't like it, but things can change.
@@PickanPop I had the anaconda too and it is not what Shunyata is now!!
100k for cables thats seems wild , i worked for a big audio company that did arena shows and we had about 1000 line array speakers and im not sure we had 100k worth of speaker cable in the shop , do you have an isolation transformer jay?
He's going off a giant battery.
@chipsnmydip that's a great way to do it
Bruh, I know you said You Tube compress your signal. But damn it sure sounds good to me🤯😳
Very good video. I'm agree with you. Cables from pure silver is more good than copper/silver.. You will see after one week. BR
Wow, awesome Sound
Glad you like it!
also i noted my hearing is different over the day and from day to day; so i guess listening over longer periods is needed....this of course clashes with having business to do
Are you sure you are an audiophile Jay? I've yet to to meet one who was happy for very long with with they had. Some are looking to upgrade shortly after their newest acquisition is out of the box.
So far, I like the Vantas. 🐻
Warning: If the USA puts a Tariff on Canada we'll have to stop buying USA products as much as possible. And likely some from other Countries would support us this way too. Let's hope it doesn't come to this, we're so much better off as friends and Allies. You would be shocked at how much Canada buys from the USA. We are the ones who are actually in a Trade deficit with the USA, the ones who should actually be charging a tax to do so much business here. As you can tell, we are quite offended. We have been such a strong supporter of the USA for so long.
Jay are you connecting the preamp to stromtank or just the sources only ?
Please review some Burmester products.
RUclips compressing your signal is an illogical reason to not upgrade your recording equipment. It would still sound better and likely more accurate for listeners. I think the real reason is it’d be a hassle for you.
comparison like this highlight the differences between products; but its different i guess what do you like in the long run....i assume you dont buy this sort of equipment to flip it in a year or so....
Hey Jay, do you still stand with the belief that if I was to put my best power cord, it would have to be the DAC first before power amp and lastly would be preamp?
Yes I do!
@ Thank you! I will keep that in mind as I level up on this journey!
Shunyata sigma-X QR power cords have silver and copper conductors too!
I can't hear all the detail you can, but what I can hear in internet land is blacker background, less grain, and less bite/sharshness/sibiliance with the Shunyata and more dynamics in the midrange. Some might find it dark, but it's relaxing to me. Yeah, those Shunyatas always take longer settling time than Shunyata says.
That so called shouting effect will disappear with Siltech cables . Merry Christmas Jay
I already know the moment he puts in the Shunyata, he's gonna say "wow". Not because he's actually hearing anything different, but simply because he has preset reactions to certain brands. We know Jay by now.
I found a good scotch improved my system the best.
Vanta will extract my wallet to the core
Jay, First of all. You should have turned the amps off & on Before listening to the Vanta. to be fair to the Shunyata. Any Solid State I've ever heard sounds confused for hours if not a day after doing so. Aside from that What I heard immediately is the Shunyata was waaay less Bright, and had more Texture, and was more Natural Sounding. You hear more Ambient information, and Echo on the Vocal First Track...
Hey come on! My 20 yr old 4.1 Cambridge Sound Works PC speaker system fed from my monitor's DAC can resolve anything you have! 🙂
I will become interested in some just after I have made my first billion.
Perhaps you meant million? With a billion you’d be buying Jays entire system like it was a gum ball from the gum ball machine.
@@a.s.2426 Nope. I need the volume that negates all concerns about setting money on fire.
@@27b-6Buttle That doesn't make sense but okay.
@@a.s.2426 Makes as much sense as spending a ton of money on cables.
@@27b-6Buttle Would have been clearer if you had just said that. I get it now. Next question would be: What is "a ton of money"?
Im envy of your amazing system 👌
@nicolatovey2687 Hater
because of good recordings we are still able to listen high quality music even through the youtube. so please upgrade your recording setup also. It's not even fraction of the cost of your gears. The perpous should be delivering the best possible audio to the audio enthusiasts over youtube. Otherwise what's the use of showing high end audio gears to the viewers when they can't hear it properly?
No time for that. Sorry but I’m too busy to now become a mixing engineer
You need to swap cameras, primary looks crap, the side camera looks good...
You are correct!
Agree
8:02 😂 How is this possible?
The Sigma X’s produce more realism vs the Vanta’s🧐. Cables, like fuses need 150hrs of burn-in time, before evaluating them! Your opinions are conflicted; you’ve said Sonus Faber is your favorite spkr, now it’s Magico’s🙈, what’s next?, possibly the Vivid Mola’s if you get a pair? You’ve done the same routine with front-end gear; Pass Labs, then Boulder, now Gryphon🙈. You’re no Greg Weaver, whose use of adjectives is truly pompous🙄. He’s more in-depth technically, where you merely scratch the surface. You’re relative to Steve Guttenberg or Steve Huffman as a reviewer. Having 2 rows deep of gear is ridiculous, you need 2 large consoles built, set at a 45 degree angle, apart from each other, to allow access to their rears. The amp floor plinths are fine for 200lb+ units😳. I’m no “flavor of the month” club member, as your channel caters to. My $70K “end game” system is modest in size, & a jaw-dropping performer! Big gear, big bucks, it’s mostly aesthetics for egos, to beat your chest & self over😎.
More than a man.....!
I’ve found that Shunyata power cords take somewhere between 50 and 100 hours to sound their best. I haven’t heard these power cords but I’ve always preferred copper over silver.
I think your cables that came with the amps are far more romantic and warmer. That may mostly come from the cd player vs the dac? Anyway the glassiness and sibilance gone. The shunyata may sound better with your dac because the cd player is frankly lacking top end. Ok thats my analysis.
The Esoteric doesn’t lack top end.
I kind of heard it reverse, with the Santa being brighter and more sibilant.
Sounds garbage no depth clarity sonic performance dead dull lifesss murky warm garbag pos. You can't pinpoint instruments know its muted.
@@chipsnmydipinteresting
Anyone thinking power cords or conditioners make any audible difference should have themselves committed... This is pure audiofool nonsense. No one even succeeded in telling any difference by a blind test, and even the most precise measurements gear could not show any difference. Just use the supplied power cord and save your money.
@ebarbie5016
Maybe your gear isn’t good enough to hear a difference…or people can hear better than you do
Wow so brave and contrary you are ,stick to £100 chi fi components and bellwire and convince everybody your right and 99% are wrong and feel superior
“No one”? You’re just making this up, my friend.
Have you thought about having your ears syringed or have you had a hearing test recently?
@@Derffee
No, but if you think you can hear a difference a power cord makes, then I'd recommend you get your brain examined...
If there is no measurable difference by precision instruments, there could be no audible difference by a human except for a placebo effect...
at this level and way below there is not really any better just different tastes or flavours . REALITY
I have no powercords at all!
