Well, I mean nostalgia is a negative force that we should rid ourselves of. Nostalgia is when you like something JUST because it's from your past and not because of any actual merit. It's the same delusion that makes old people say the 1960s were "a better time" despite objectively not being. That's not to say that older stuff can't be good, obviously I'm not saying that, but things should be looked at for what they actually are, not what you falsely remember them as.

The thing about Fergie's version of the National Anthem (vocals aside) is why you would ever want to drag out the National Anthem more than it already is by doing a smooth jazz rendition? No one really takes into account how long the anthem is because most renditions usually end in the same amount of time or aren't at a slow tempo that feels like it's deliberate.
I just really want to who wrote off the idea of Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas singing jazz.

"The most obvious choice every time." That's what watching Black Clover feels like to watch, but that gets some points for being simplistic in an anime-ocean where they love to overexplain everything.

Hate to defend fergie, but to be fair you can kind of make any song seem insane if you just play it and then do an impression of them. However its real hard to defend fergie ngl because my god if you go back to a lot of black eyed peas music, you start to realise she is a pretty weak singer, she doesn't have the pipes to be a pop diva

I think “Meet Me Halfway” and “Where Is The Love” are my favorite Black Eyed Peas song when speaking how strong they are lyrically, but “I Gotta Feeling” and “Boom Boom Pow” are more memorable when looking at just the music. Those two have the kind of music that accurately screams 2000s in their style of beats.
Their songs are amazing as something to put on at a dance party or a karaoke, and that can be all that matters to some.

@10:00 Eminem is a master of the dramatic relationship/narrative type songs, w/ _Kim_ & _Stan,_ but 2pac was the OG w/those emotional narrative tracks. Some great 1s from Pac are _Brenda's got a Baby, Shorty wanna be a Thug, Don't Ya Trust Me?_ ft. Dido. Outkast & Slick Rick both have some great 1s too, specifically _Tha Art of Storytellin'._ 1 more modern recent 1 that i absolutely love is Rittz ft Yelawolf - _Sleep at Night._ Yelawolf has a lot of them too now that i think about it, _Tennesee Love_ being another banger in that same style that I adore.
*Edit:* NF is another of my more recent favorites, whom also has a ton of great narrative style songs as well.

3:36 the body is actually damaging itself, its really bad for you to sing like that. The vocal chords are slowed to the point of filtering out only that rrrk door sound come out. It means they arent pushing air smoothly but distorting it. Can be used in cool ways, that was not it. takes great skill to use ina way that sounds okay even, but generally don't do that. People think its sounds kurt cobain-ey but he didnt do that, he just has a crunchy quality to his tenor voice. Same for Amy Winehouse. She doesnt scratch her notes they are just coming out on the notes and the filter of her body itself creates the tone, and its slight rasps naturally rather than tearing her chords up inside for that sound.

Bro, as much as I respect your opinions and criticisms. Really nobody pays as much attention to progressions and notes etc as much as you think they do.
I've been into music for a long time and for me personally it's all about expression and catharsis in music. Structure and correctness in technique or whatever is little to no value to me unless it's terribly obvious how bad it is that even someone that knows nothing about music can notice.
I feel like you're a little too picky and critical when it comes to music, it's all about feeling as far as I'm concerned.

Absolute fucking banger that I have been completely obsessed with lately. I WILL check out his other tracks.
