    shed may get too warm in summer. i tried attic and sticks split to hot in summer.if u put them tea light candles in small old fry pan that seals ends real well. i cut mine minimum 6 inch to a foot over lenth i want also so if any cracks come they dont reach the wood u wana use.

      Thanks I’m experimenting this year with this year harvest sealed with wax. All experiment waxed and in same shed and year after I’ll try something different

      @@CutterStickMan good look with it pal. i cut 17 tday. 3 thumb sticks in a day usualy lucky to get one a year. i had 3 year serply robbed. got bout 20 to work on. hope to get bout 50 good uns this year. and stick at bout 50 a year. i heat me wax in fry pan then dip ends in. u get good seal that way

    Liquid C.A. Glue is very efficient to prevent cracking in the drying process, much more effective that wax. It has a high degree of capillarity and will go inside tiny cracks or depressions and stop them !

    Why is blackthorn chosen over hawthorn, is it stronger lighter?

      Blackthorn is more dence and heavy then hawthorn. Hawthorn is lighter….

      Traditionally shillelagh were made out of oak or blackthorn, but for a walking stick could use any
