They were so good, it's ridiculous... I can't even think of one of today's so called "metal" bands that can compete with this... and the Chapman era is defintely underrated O^O
RIP Paul Chapman, Obviously no slouch when it comes to ripping up the fretboard on his guitar, and in a musical way too!! A very worthy replacement to Michael Schenker without a doubt.

I was 15 in 1979 went to see Rush and This band from England called UFO was the backup band when the came on 20,000 fans including myself were at awe guess what it was the live Strangers in the night album tour, well being only 15 the became my all time favorite band and got the UFO there logo tattooed on my arm. I Love this band so much.
To step into Schenkers spot took balls as big as church bells-saw them twice during this tour and Tonka was the real f'n deal-much love and respect Paul!
I was a senior in high school and I also seen this tour in 1980. This was recommended on my RUclips tonight. It was nice to look back 40years (holy crap) and remember when rockers rocked.
I was gutted when Michael Schenker left and never thought that anyone could fill those boot's then along came Paul Chapman. I remember watching them live in 1978 thinking the very same thing just before the light's went down and the Lad's walked onto the stage, that was the last time I ever had that thought.
I saw 'em in March that year ,Columbus OH ,with Blackfoot. Paul Raymond was there,he and Tonka both playing Firebirds.Tonka also played a black Les Paul Custom. Pete ended up Living in Columbus ,I believe
The more I listen to this band the more I realize there's about nothing they couldn't do. Just excellent! So influential and not enough people are aware of that fact!
3:10. Tonka double tapping before it was a thing. I was and always will be a Schenker fan but Chapman in UFO was solid. Long Gone, and Lettin Go are top 10 UFO tracks, and Mystery Train live was staggering.
John Smith.I was a Schenker fan boy through and through and was devastated when he left. I thought Chapman was a worthy different kind of player.RIP Tonka
Nicht komplett... Ca. 71 Minuten total. Trotzdem super. Top Qualität in Bild und Sound. Ich liebe die Alben von no place to run bis making contact. Also auch Mechanix und WWATI. Rip Paul Chapman. Nach Paul Raymond der zweite Ufo Gitarrist Tod 😥
Damn,,, Pete Way- His Bass playing is a .....what was that UFO ALBUM CALLED? PHENOMENON!!!! Yes indeed UFO was out of this world in their day and Pete was Such a big part of that.....in my day! :) 🤟✌Today! Because I'm still listening.
BEST LINE UP BEST ENERGY FOR UFO ..BEEN A FAN SINCE FORCE IT. I’M 58 Even with Schenker..Big fan of his But This was the best.. I saw them in 1981...BLOWN AWAY with “The Wild Willing and Innocent” album....RIP Pete Way-Paul Chapman(Tonka) -Paul Raymond...
Rockaplast👍 Undoubtedly UFO my fav band in late seventies..I had heard the phenomenon album early..but really got into SITN ..Live album. Best live recording ever!
I though this rendition of Doctor Doctor was strangely slow and short on raw power. This song should be the all-out, crushing, firing and blazing. But then, from 37:50, Phil restarts the verse after a break and it is all vocal perfection, the style we associate with this song. I confess I hardly tolerate Doctor Doctor sung by anybody else: MSG singers or others - they just don't have it, they don't fit right.
Band sounded awesome here. Tonka doing some great shredding solos, even tapping. Phil is in perfect voice.....sound is as tight as one of Andy's drum heads. UFO fan for life.
This was the best UFO lineup. Paul Chapman was amazing. Always loved the BC Rich Bich he played and the tones he got from it. From No Place To Run to Making Contact, four of the best rock albums ever made. Add Live At Hammersmith to that list and it's complete. It's a pity they didn't sell as many records as their contemporaries as they were much better but bad management and an indifferent label were to blame.
Can’t blame Paul Chapman for following Schenker (GOD). Thanks for sharing this Great show. Saw it in Chicago, & them in every incarnation since. Vinnie Moore (GOD) cheers to seeing them again in the fall. Phil Mogg, incredibly poetic in everything he touches! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Really? I think you mean he’s your favorite. I really don’t think he’s a better player than, say, Billy Sheehan, Geddy Lee, Geezer Butler, Victor Wooten, John Myung, Tony Franklin, Barry Sparks, etc.

Yo de las listas de los ""mejores "" me las sudan😅😅,para mi este cantante es unos de los grandes, y aquí en esta actuación no estaba schenker, pero es una pedazo de actuación 🤘
Now, instead of repeating for XXXth time endless comparisons between UFO's guitar players, please observe how different the rendition of Love to Love is. Over their earlier period with MS (and on Strangers in the Night, of course), this great song was all dynamic, a powerhouse, a battleship in full cruise. Here it is more subtle, heartfelt, with nuance, somehow delicate in a very special hard rock way.
Nobody could replace Schenker but underrated Paul Chapman certainly did. RIP
🤣🤣🤣🤣

Then you'd really like Mogg Way Chocolate Box. Hit it. 👍😜
Paul Tonka Chapman was badass on the guitar in his own style playing with soul and feel not just jamming notes down your throat like many in the 80's

Never noticed how much of an angle Andy has his snare set at. Weird? But he plays the hell out of those tubs! Love UFO and this was a great lineup.
You`re looking at his cooling fan?
That sort of angle on the snare was commoni(ish) usually among players with multi Tom set up, now rare, only Nicko of Maiden comes to mind.
:-) I noticed that also; hubby says his technhique is bad. ZZZZZZZzzzzzz. Flatter is better apparently. How did I arrive at this. ZZZzzzz
