  • This episode is in response to listener requests. Mike and Trey interview Rick Brannan, the information specialist for Greek New Testament products and databases at Logos Bible Software, about how we got the New Testament, the KJV-only idea, and conspiratorial views about the history and transmission of the Greek New Testament. We also talk about tools for learning about the Greek New Testament and its vocabulary. Rick is the general editor of the Lexham English Septuagint, translator of The Apostolic Fathers in English, and author of Greek Apocryphal Gospels, Fragments, and Agrapha.

    So what about the ESV and the NIV, where whole verses are eliminated such as Matthew 18:11, Matthew 17:21, and I John 5:7,8, they are in the KJV and the NASB. And in the ESV and the NIV, Revelation mentions the "tree of life" but in the KJV and the NASB, it's called "the book of life"; so which is correct?

    One word or two? What if whole phrases or the whole verse is eliminated?

    Hi there! I stumbled upon the naked Bible podcast recently and have listened to this non-stop. Lol. Question: I was wondering if your familiar with Dr. Ann Nyland? I bought The Source New Testament which is her translation of The New Testament and was wondering what your thoughts were about her translation? So far, it seems to be a good translation but I'm still learning. Thanks guys!

    I'm amused by your guest's inability to fully 'get' your sarcasm. I'm a fairly sarcastic person so I feel the tiny bit of frustration you feel when you talk to someone who is sarcastically deaf. It's kind of like a great painter not understanding how everyone can't do what they do, we can't relate. Great interview.

    Can anyone confirm what role cults promulgated the KJV-onlism Movement? The KJVO guys have a vested interest because cults rely upon the KJV for the defense of their doctrine.
    While some evangelicals are involved in this, there is the claim the KJV only movement originated in the 7th Day Adventist movement.

      I have some friends who researched it. They’re on FB. The difficulty is that firm documentation is hard to come by. But because of the internet, motivated people might be able to research it easier.

    What's truly sad is all the massive amount of effort that has been done on the Greek - which is so obviously a translation from the original language. They even mention the textual problems of Greek in Revelation - but they don't want to discuss it. Because it's such an obvious sign that the Greek is of such bad grammar. Very sad that the western Christians are missing the true New Testament in Aramaic. Will they wake up from their strong delusion before the next 9 years - when Messiah Jesus will very likely return?

      Does the Greek have a different gospel?

    • @jparks6544
      @jparks6544 Год назад +1

      @@YeshuaMostHigh No. No different gospel message. Just such muddiness. Jesus said some very strange stuff recorded with the Greek text. But the Aramaic makes it perfectly clear. This is something very few western Christians are even aware of.
