But I don't let her do the dishes because she isn't thorough enough for my liking, and I prefer that chore over others that she does. My husband is the we/our person and even tho when he says we I know it's sometimes just me I still think it's cute. So there's a step you missed that helps save both on clean up AND on preventing disasters like this. You line the "baking vessel" in parchment paper before putting the cookie dough on. Even on the drying rack the dough couldn't slip through and -nearly- start a fire. Can still over bake them to do that but baby steps. 😉 *bonus* even when you use it on the normal cookie sheet, you'll be able to take the cookies off much easier _AND_ not have to clean the sheet afterwards (unless you had especially oily cookies that had grease bleed through the paper). Works with cakes (and some breads) too!
@@valaya.3 nope. Parchment Paper. It is specifically designed to be used in ovens and is used safely in bakeries all around the world (worked for a bakery for a few years). What would catch fire is butcher's paper. Don't use wax paper because it will make everything taste like crayons. I would also _avoid_ tin foil as it could actually make the bottom of the cookies brown faster as the thin foil will be better at transferring heat than the thick(er) material the sheet pan is made of.

That second "grate" is for the cooling off of cookies, not cooking with. The cookies are soft will melt before hardening. The cookie sheet is to let it puddle up before turning into a cookie
