- This week on Rockonteurs we are delighted to welcome the hugely talented songwriter and producer Patrick Leonard to the show.
Pat is best known as a longtime collaborator with Madonna having worked on albums such as ‘True Blue’, ‘Who’s That Girl’ and ‘Like A Prayer’.
But his musical credentials stretch far wider and include Michael Jackson, Pink Floyd, Jeff Beck, David Gilmour, Elton John and Leonard Cohen to name but a few.
As you can imagine, the stories come thick and fast and it’s one amazing listen.
Rockonteurs is produced by Ben Jones for Gimme Sugar Limited

Pat is a musical genius.
Fascinating. So glad you asked him about Leonard Cohen's last three albums. Sooo interesting, how they worked together on those.
Pat is a such a gentle great, one can imagine having a genius like that in the studio. Yet another fantastic interview, gents!
Oh, he does have a temper.
@@sundet81 I guess we all can, right? 😂
Brilliant episode yet again! Became aware of Toy Matinee through Guy's lockdown bass licks on youtube, it really is a fantastic album!
I saw Pat a few times in Heaven. That band should have made it big! Wonder if there are any old tapes of that band still in existance? I'd give my right arm to hear those!!!
Always great! But I was waiting for the Pat L. interview, Such a great musician and writer
Brilliant/informative interview.
Such a that shame that Toy Matinee chat was so brief, and you even fast tracked it to Sheryll Crow... aggrieving every Toy Matinee fan, Please Guy, go back and do the full story of Toy Matinee, and I can imagine hilarious stories with Kevin.. kudos from Scotland.
As usual the answer is Bowie. I think you’ll find the gated reverb on the snare originated with Tony Visconti on the Low album.
Great episode!
Now you have to get Tim Pearce on! 👍👍
