Great review man!!! I just bought this machine and watching your video I put it in practice. I love the latte drinks from it. Thanks for you great video!
Cristian, thank you for watching. And yes, that machine is great at all the coffee drinks, as well as giving fresh hot water on tap for tea or even mashed potatoes:-) You will love it.
Finally decided and purchased this over the Philips Series 3200 LatteGo. The Philips is a bit more user-friendly and offers a few more settings via the buttons (the amount of the liquid and the amount of milk for milk drinks), whereas with the Delonghi you have preset amounts only (and have to manually stop if it starts to overflow), but the big negative of the Philips is the reported loudness of the Milk preparation. And now that I installed it and made some initial 6-7 coffees to "clean" the "smell of fresnhess" out of the machine, I am happy with the purchase. It turns out the Cappuccino does more or less fit in my existing cups (even though I might purchase some new set, as those are quite old now - just to go with the new machine :)) Thx again for your review and also for the tips throughout and at the end!
We bought an earlier version of the Magnifica S about 4 years ago and it gets daily use. It has operated flawlessly during that time but I'm careful to clean the puck maker every month and descale when requested. I don't use the filter since it's just another complication and our tap water is very clean. Didn't know about the milk only tip so thanks for that. My only complaint is that the drinks could be hotter but a quick zap in the microwave fixes that. This machine has spoiled us as we find purchased coffees and cappuccinos to be inferior.
Wow! Thank you so much for this video. I just purchased this machine and was feeling a little intimidated by it. I am used to my Keurig for a quick cup or my french press for multiple cups. I feel confident giving this machine a shot. Well done!
Great review! When making multiple cappuccinos/lattes in sequence, how often do you have to initiate the milk dispenser system cleaning (at 26:05)? EDIT: Ah, you answered at 29:09 - you can do multiple milk drinks in sequence without the need to clean the milk dispenser system, you do it only at the end.
Hello, excellent review! I'm thinking of buying this machine. But I would like to know more about it. Like, if the coffee really comes out hot in the first cup of the day. About milk frother for me and most importantly. the denser and creamy the better. You know if you have any setting for Milk frother, or temperature of milk and water. My last question, you said you tried Nespresso, you liked it. because I saw some reviews by Creatista by Breville. This machine has Frother adjustment and water temperature, the only problem is that the coffee is through capsules and I never took it. You prefer coffee in capsule or fresh, I say this because I need to know if there is a lot of difference in flavor. Thank you for your time, for the information on the video. And I will be super grateful if you can answer my questions!
Hi and thanks for watching... For the temp: when you just turn it on and use a cold cup - you get a 145 degree shot. With a warmed up cup - the temp comes out to 175. If Temp of drinks cannot be adjusted on this model, so if you want a piping hot drink - you might want to look elsewhere. I do like my drinks hot, and this Delonghi makes them just hot enough to not be considered too cold by me (and be still too Hot for other users in the house)...., and cold enough that it doesn’t burn your taste buds away. Capsule vs fresh - ALWAYS go for fresh. 1. You do NOT want to get locked in into a special format - forcing you to buy their lineup for as long as you have their device. (Those Nespresso 1-2 oz shot capsules were $1-2/each - and I could drink 10 of them in a cup) 2. You control the freshness and intensity of the flavor by picking the beans you like, from a store you like. 3. You refine the flavor by modifying your own grind size - to fit your own taste, and not the person who decided what contents will go in the capsule. This machine is fully automated, with some features like special frothing and temperature range missing. If those are important for you, you might want to look elsewhere. I switched from a barista Breville to mine because I wanted full automation, and didn’t need the extra settings. I hope I was able to cover some of your points.
I use it daily and after 9 months - I still love it. Zero regrets. But the cost of filters and descaler every couple of months can drive the ownership cost significantly. Check their cost in your area, to decide. I get mine through Amazon
@@Outlaw_SEO sorry for the delay. Yeah, better, but my advice: make a two or three minute video, call it “make milk only with the Delongi Magnifica S” (or something). That’s what i searched for, and had to do a lot of digging to find anything on this. Basically found your vid because I watched every video on the model :)
Are there any significant differences between Magnifica and Dinamica? I'm not sure which one to choose and there is a significant difference in price between them.
I don’t have any experience with the Dinamica - but here’s a comparison article I found: www.powertothekitchen.co.uk/delonghi-magnifica-vs-dinamica/#Conclusion_8211_Delonghi_Magnifica_vs_Dinamica
Thank you for your detailed review. Is there a way to program the amount of water used for an espresso/lungo/coffee ? Or do you know the factory preset amounts for the different types of coffee? same question for milk used in cappuccino or latte m.
How does the espresso taste compare to the barista express? I know the barista is a lot more work. I'm just curious if all the extra work produced a better or same taste.
Barista allows you much more personalized tweaking, but this one does almost anything you want automatically. I can’t complain about the taste, and can no longer consume the burnt Starbucks.
Hi Anna, when you press 2x it makes a double of whatever setting you’ve selected. Try to make your coffee without the 2x selected and it should make half of what you got with it selected. I hope this helps. If your machine is delivering the same quantities with the 2x setting as it does without - you should contact Delonghi. Their customer service is actually pretty good and they will guide you through the process.
Anna, I’m sorry to hear it. But it should get sorted out. These machines have a long warranty. Mine is 7 months old now, and it works like a champ. Out of curiosity - was it working properly before? Also, feel free to share an update on what happens after you contact them. Thanks
Well..... i have to say all right with my machine 😃!!!! 2x doesn't work if this coffeemachine use the function 1 scoop ground coffee ( even in gide it says) but i did not paid attention and was thinking that we bought garbage)))) Now i use whole grain coffee and i full in love with my coffeemachine. I’m using if for double filtration. We have extremely hard water. This way my drinks ore processed through the fridge and then through the Delonghi filter. Thanks for watching!!!
@@Bisic4Jesus - have you measured the temp or you are judging by the feel of the mouth? If the temp is not hot enough, you might want to contact Delonghi for warranty work.
Hi L, and thanks for watching. As far as I can see, there is no way of turning off that feature. At least the manual does not mention it. 30 minutes is the set timer. You can always hit up Delonghi Automatic appliance department at (866)528-8323. There might be a bypass that they can tell you. If you find a way to do, please post it here. Thank you.
@@Outlaw_SEO Thank you very much for your prompt reply. I asked this question to DeLonghi tech support. When I receive an answer, I will write the content.
I’ve never tried. Our water is very hard and even with double filtration, I still change the filter every few months. The filter also prolongs the periods between descaling cycles.
The espresso is way too under-extracted. You get a white-ish crema and it took only 7 seconds to make it. An espresso should have a red-brownish crema and should be ready in about 20-25 seconds. By changing grind size and aroma, I made it mine to deliver an espresso in 19seconds. Pretty good timing, infinitely better coffee.

I agree on all points.
To get the drink hotter, run some hot water into the cup, so it’s not cooling the coffee.

The best thing is preheating the cup on the top metal plate and by the pouring hot water in it.
