As a lifelong Husky fan I’m glad you covered Michael Penix… I have never seen a Washington QB play at the pure talent level that he plays at. Ex Husky Jake Browning could never make the throws Penix is making right now all over the field and he does it on a regular basis. Hard to explain how talented Penix is to people who haven’t seen him. Everybody was thrilled to have Jacob Eason transfer here from Georgia but he never did what Penix is doing. It’s so fun watching him make the throws that I’d only see a few special SEC QBs throw! And Kalen DeBoer has been a godsend as head coach! Thanx for the dive….. Go Dawgs!

@@rigsoil haha, you’re funny. I grew up watching Warren Moon, I even remember Sonny Sixkiller mania around Seattle. Warren Moon was a great QB and he did make some great deep ball throws to Spider Gaines. But the Huskies under Don James were a much more balanced run/pass team. Maybe if Moon had the chance to throw 35 times a game he might make some of those Penix throws… Sadly, I don’t think Penix is going to be a pro QB like Warren Moon (who had an incredible pro career). Penix won’t take the pounding in pro ball, he’s too injury prone.

Penix has been amazing to watch. I don't think too many people have seen him play. Let's be honest until the Huskies beat Oregon they haven't really been on the radar. Penix has been nothing short of amazing. His throws are beautiful. Something about his throwing motion makes the balls catchable and they look to be perfect spirals on a 40 yard throw or a 5 yard check down dump off. We have had a lot of good QB's at UW over the years but I don't think any of them could throw like Penix except maybe Warren Moon. That includes another top notch lefty Mark Brunell who only played in the NFL for 19 years. He is slinging the ball like Warren Moon.

The ONLY reason Micheal did not play his first year at Pasco high before he transferred was because coaches son was the starting QB… even though everyone knew Mike was better the coach of Pasco said I have a senior and I have a freshman and I’m gonna give the senior all the opportunities to enjoy his last season… our small town high school lost out on have a possible nfl alumni but let it go and all cause daddy was the coach…. Feels like you're skating over that last season at IU a little. He wasn't right... he came back too soon and probably should not have started the season. The Iowa game broke him and the OL couldn't keep him clean.
From and IU perspective, he had 4 season ending injuries, and from his perspective, a new start made a ton of sense. From the Indiana perspective, could you put your trust in a guy that hadn't finished a season?
Most IU fans are cheering him on in Seattle. He gave IU some incredible memories and it's great to see him succeed in a program that can support him (and not let him get hit so much).
Would love to see him win the Heisman and take Washington all the way.

It's arguably a reason for Penix Jr to play another year at UW to show a history of durability. There's a lot of risk to it but the upside is a bigger paycheck with a higher draft position. Excited for the Apple Cup. This guy has been so fun to watch this year. We beat Oregon, that's a big deal. The guy is just electric. At first when we were playing weaker non-conference teams I said wow we have a QB, but was a little worried he would be slinging around with reckless abandon and create too many turnovers. But he is not reckless. He just has great arm talent and makes aggressive throws that look crazy sometimes but he knows what he's doing. And our receivers are playing great this year too. The whole offense really - he's gotten great protection and productive run game to complement his passing attack. He'll probably go pro. Probably should. But I'd love to see another year of this guy running the offense. He's made a name for himself in Husky history in just this year. Go beat the Cougs, win a bowl game, and he'll be in good company and remembered as a legend.

IU Football 🏈 has a regionally cultural glitch in their Program: They Make Playing the Game Miserable; it's been the dead-end RUINATION of Hundreds of Michael Penix's IU Predecessors thru the years. Michael Penix Jr Made the RIGHT Move: He SAVED his Football Career by 'Breaking Away' from that cultural Midwest Misery in Basketball Bloomington and taking his Talent 'Downtown' 2 the West Coast, where he could see the Light-hearted Salvation of SEAttle! Football 🏈 is FUN Again! and Michael Penix Jr can SEE again! Go Dawgs!! ...and Thank the NCAA GAWD (what-took-U-so-long!!!) 4 the Transfer Portal!!! The Lack of it meant the RUINATION of HUNDREDS of VERY TALENTED Football 🏈 Players at IU, who ended up being 'STUCK' & 'SCREWED' by the masquerade of IU Football in B-Town. -Go WEST, Young Man!!!✅🥇🌎

As a proud father of a UW grad, I'm super-happy with Penix. That said, I wouldn't want the Seahawks (even without Geno) to draft him as I doubt his body could stand up the the pro-level abuse it would be exposed to. I see another tragic Roger Griffin III NFL career...but hope I'm wrong.

Well, the guy blew his knee out, twice. He was a good QB at Indiana, but obviously injury prone. Ask the Pelicans how drafting Zion Williamson worked out. Or Greg Odon? Zero chance he plays in the NFL for a year without getting injured again.
