As a lifelong Husky fan I’m glad you covered Michael Penix… I have never seen a Washington QB play at the pure talent level that he plays at. Ex Husky Jake Browning could never make the throws Penix is making right now all over the field and he does it on a regular basis. Hard to explain how talented Penix is to people who haven’t seen him. Everybody was thrilled to have Jacob Eason transfer here from Georgia but he never did what Penix is doing. It’s so fun watching him make the throws that I’d only see a few special SEC QBs throw! And Kalen DeBoer has been a godsend as head coach! Thanx for the dive….. Go Dawgs!
Yes sir!!!!! Let's go!!! Go Dawgs!!! #UDUB #PurpleReign #EaterOfDuck
Such a fan flu dawg. You have never seen warren moon huh?
@@rigsoil haha, you’re funny. I grew up watching Warren Moon, I even remember Sonny Sixkiller mania around Seattle. Warren Moon was a great QB and he did make some great deep ball throws to Spider Gaines. But the Huskies under Don James were a much more balanced run/pass team. Maybe if Moon had the chance to throw 35 times a game he might make some of those Penix throws… Sadly, I don’t think Penix is going to be a pro QB like Warren Moon (who had an incredible pro career). Penix won’t take the pounding in pro ball, he’s too injury prone.
You must be pretty young!lol I'm also a lifelong Husky, and Penix is one of the best, but pound for pound, I like Sonny Sixkiller! Watch some of his dimes! Go Huskies!
What about Jake Locker?
Wow, I wondered what happened to “that crazy Indiana QB that made Indiana competitive” I thought he graduated or something. Thanks for the update.
This kid is simply the best college Quarterback in the country, his arm talent is insane. Penix Jr can make throws some NFL QB’S can’t. Penix Jr is a pass first pocket Quarterback but he could flat out fly. Can’t wait to see his forty time at the combine.
Where the heck have I been! I wondered what happened to him after Indiana! Wow! Good stuff!
Health is his only limit. THIS MAN IS GOOD!
I'm so happy you covered him. I'm a Washington fan and so grateful he slchose yo come here. He's tons of fun to watch and I hope he has many years of NFL success ahead of him.
I doubt your a Washington fan.
@@bennyhardson4338 Hush, spider child.
@@bennyhardson4338 I am 2?
Same man he almost brings as much joy to me as browning did
Best Dawgs QB, since Warren Moon hands down!!
Miss Penix and DeBoer at Indiana so much. Glad to see the success they're having at Washington and glad to see Penix healthy
Thank you for letting ppl know he’s been special for years! Just needed to stay healthy, anybody that watched IU in years past always knew he could do this
special for being bless with amazing recievers and lots of blown coverage
@@wgsmit02 whatever you say man. Somebody’s still gotta make throws that give said great receivers a chance to make plays and okay, that would be A LOT of blown coverages but let’s say you’re right. If blown coverages are the only reason for the success he’s having, it is kind of a quarterback’s job to see and react to those blown coverages… not being a fan is one thing, but why try to discredit the man completely 😂
Penix has been amazing to watch. I don't think too many people have seen him play. Let's be honest until the Huskies beat Oregon they haven't really been on the radar. Penix has been nothing short of amazing. His throws are beautiful. Something about his throwing motion makes the balls catchable and they look to be perfect spirals on a 40 yard throw or a 5 yard check down dump off. We have had a lot of good QB's at UW over the years but I don't think any of them could throw like Penix except maybe Warren Moon. That includes another top notch lefty Mark Brunell who only played in the NFL for 19 years. He is slinging the ball like Warren Moon.
The guy is a stud. Great arm, cool in the pocket and throws extremely catch-friendly balls. I wish him all the luck in world… Go Dawgs!!
let’s goooo
BIG PENIX ENERGY
I’m watching this during the 23’ football season. He is currently in the top 2 for the heisman race. He could honestly save the Jets or Broncos franchise.
Penix is one of the best qbs I have ever watched. Definitely a draft prospect and should sneak into the top 3 rds
Bro I’m so happy we picked him up. I’ve been a husky fan my entire life and penix is probably one of the best I’ve ever seen. Just insane.
Okay so interesting story… I went to school with Micheal from 2nd grade on… in middle school it was clear to see that he was special…. The ONLY reason Micheal did not play his first year at Pasco high before he transferred was because coaches son was the starting QB… even though everyone knew Mike was better the coach of Pasco said I have a senior and I have a freshman and I’m gonna give the senior all the opportunities to enjoy his last season… our small town high school lost out on have a possible nfl alumni but let it go and all cause daddy was the coach…. It’s amazing what could have happend to mikes career all cause coach played favoritism
Thanks for sharing. Hate it when coaches give favouritism over their kid.
Was so over the moon to hear he’s coming back for one more year. He’s gotta be the favorite to win the heisman this coming season with the numbers he was putting up this season
The "Moon" was a great QB at UW, the CFL and the NFL.
Feels like you're skating over that last season at IU a little. He wasn't right... he came back too soon and probably should not have started the season. The Iowa game broke him and the OL couldn't keep him clean.
From and IU perspective, he had 4 season ending injuries, and from his perspective, a new start made a ton of sense. From the Indiana perspective, could you put your trust in a guy that hadn't finished a season?
Most IU fans are cheering him on in Seattle. He gave IU some incredible memories and it's great to see him succeed in a program that can support him (and not let him get hit so much).
Would love to see him win the Heisman and take Washington all the way.
Reminds me so much of Tua with a better arm. And that is unreal praise. Tua is a fantastic QB
Nah, more of a combination between Vick and Rodgers with a better arm, and better accuracy, likely HOF
The warrior!
If I was an NFL scout I would really worry about his durability. He is definitely a rare talent however.
What indications has he given this year of having durability problems? That's just some hearsay.
@@jayanthkumar7964 It's not about this year. It never is. It about a history over the years and he's been hurt a lot over the years.
They’ve all been different injuries that were largely attributed to his more dual-threat style of play at IU. He was a bit reckless as a young player but this year he’s shown a lot more maturity and smarts in getting down and not taking shots from defenders.
It's arguably a reason for Penix Jr to play another year at UW to show a history of durability. There's a lot of risk to it but the upside is a bigger paycheck with a higher draft position. He could always take out a 7-figure insurance policy to hedge against injury like Willis McGahee from Miami back in the day.
@@jayanthkumar7964Go back to his history at Indiana. That’s where he had durability issues. He stays healthy another year at Washington, then his health issues will probably be forgotten.
im from one of his rival schools when he went to high school so i know how raw everyone is at Tampa Bay Tech but damn did he murder our shit back in his high school days
I wish the National media would have seen him play this year. He would be in NY for the Heisman show.
Micheal Penix is so good he got Indiana into the Top 25.
Hope that the Seahawks are listening to this. He could play a couple of years behind Geno and develop to be a fine NFL QB.
Geno will not have another year like this year
@@jmillz5734 Perhaps, but bet on it!
1000 that he isn’t the Seahawks starter by week 3 next season or before
@@jmillz5734 Find another sucker for that bet. All kinds of reasons besides his play could make that true.
He wasn’t fully recovered from his 2020 injury in 2021. That’s the biggest reason he struggled that year
Let's go!! U-DUB BABY!!!! Michael Penix has been a blessing in disguise for us. We have husky royalty on the sidelines in Sam Huard learning how to be a great husky so I am excited to see how Penix has had an effect on him going into next year. He does deserve a shot to be an NFL quarterback. I'd assume he'll be a 4th round pick just because of his injury history. But he has the intangibles and the heart to fight and show his value to an NFL team. Go DAWGS!!!!! WOOF WOOF!!!!
Michael Penix Jr is half Steve Young Half Vick
As a Lefty ya best believe im excited to see another Lefty QB doing great 💪🏽
Why add that Washington had a big lead but Michigan state came back? (They didn't). And the interception by Penix was in the 4th quarter, not "early".
Didn't think I would see another QB/Receiver combo as good as Jake Browning and John (The Boss) Ross ...until now...As a lifelong Husky, I'm excited about UW football again...
Nicely done video.
Great work! Keep up the back-story details! You have me caring about a quarterback that I hate/fear. That has to be an achievement of some kind. Only caveat...the similarities between BO NIX and penix are noteworthy. If you continue the series, it will be difficult to find distinctive characteristics for players. Everyone was "A natural leader!" or whatnot. Find out why they hate beer or something.
This is phenomenal!!!!
Lil Mike just built different! We were at Burke park and lil Mike was 9 maybe 10 years old when he stepped up to the plate and hit a homer over the fence! Big Mike jumped up, ran and got the ball! Right then and there I knew he would do big things in life! I’m happy for the Penix family❤
I won’t stop asking until you do a Kenny bell video!
He absolutely carried Indiana.
And paid the price for it too.
This aged like fine wine
Good stuff Scott
The only thing that I see holding him back from being a first rounder is the fact that his gets hurt a lot. He will need to put on a little weight at the next level and learn not to take any hits when scrambling..
Excited for the Apple Cup. This guy has been so fun to watch this year. We beat Oregon, that's a big deal. The guy is just electric. At first when we were playing weaker non-conference teams I said wow we have a QB, but was a little worried he would be slinging around with reckless abandon and create too many turnovers. But he is not reckless. He just has great arm talent and makes aggressive throws that look crazy sometimes but he knows what he's doing. And our receivers are playing great this year too. The whole offense really - he's gotten great protection and productive run game to complement his passing attack. He'll probably go pro. Probably should. But I'd love to see another year of this guy running the offense. He's made a name for himself in Husky history in just this year. Go beat the Cougs, win a bowl game, and he'll be in good company and remembered as a legend.
Shocked he is comimg back for another year. At the time I thought ok.
But after this video makes sense he should have declared. Hard to beat the season he just had.
Michael Penix is showing the way for Washington this year and scoring like crazy. Go Dawgs!
He just announced he's coming back for the 2023 season as a Husky. Look out NCAA college Football.
Ass a husky fan here in Idaho, can't wait to se him play on Saturday
I love this. Guys game can’t wait till u get in the NFL with that left hand
Penix was amazing to watch this season👍🏻 i'm sure he'll leave though and I can't blame him. but man, what a comeback story for the guy
I was at Kinnick when he threw those 3 picks, looks like a completely different guy now
Nice video 💯
And is now 13-0
Easily could be ranked #1 in the country
Most likely Heisman winner
And hopefully national champs
Miss this guy on IU 😢
Hopefully a future Seattle Seahawk to learn behind Geno
If y’all remember where he had Indiana in the top 25 for that year
As a UW fam don’t think he’s quite good enough for the Heisman, but holy crap he is fun to watch. I also think he could be a late round pick for a team with a good veteran QB then he can sit and develop. A team like Seattle or Tampa.
Well, He looks every bit as good, if not better than Bo Nix at Oregon, who is considered a Heisman candidate, and has better overall statistics.
Interesting I saw that Oregon offered him before he committed to Tennessee.
I would like the Lion's to take him to groom him to replace Goff not replace atm. He is an amazing kid and an under the radar currently. I have loved watching him play and handles pressure better than most I have seen.
Him and Jamo would be a PROBLEM.
he was so good in 2020
Colts should start look at into either penix or Jalen Hall
Agreed.
As a Colts fan, I'm loving Penix. His talent is undeniable. If we can protect him, which frankly won't be easy, then he'll be great. This video made me love him even more. Go Colts!
He will be remember at Washington to have on the best single seasons. I hope Kalen DeBoer can turn around Dylan Morris. I think Michael Penix Jr. is this year Kenny Picket benefits by staying college a 5 year a have a great single season
Love his comeback, but you'd have to have super faith to draft him first round. His injury history scares me. If you watch him, he has everything you need in an elite QB, but his injuries give me pause. If I could get him 3rd round, I'd take him in a heartbeat. Draft OL to keep him upright.
He will go in the third- fourth
Such a great talent, I think he goes 2nd round
And you can add another impressive win against Washington State, putting up more gaudy numbers as the
Huskies had over 700 yards of total offense.
Would love my raiders to draft him just scared of that history man it's tough
Wish you'd told us what the injuries were. What kind they are make a difference in evaluating his potential.
He has 2 ACL injuries & a shoulder injury while at IU. He has been healthy all this year, though.
Nvm u already diddd u just earned a sub
Yes , differnently he's a NFL prospect, he's good.
His coach was Right!!!! 🎉
Sure hope the Seahawks can pick him up after his awesome year at the U Dub!
Dillon Gabriel would be a fun video
As a Duck fan I'm happy for Penix but sad for us. Go Ducks.
Neva ova it's called return of tha mac
*LEAVE THE SENSATIONALISM.*
The Washington Huskies are a thousand times better TEAM than the Indiana Hoosiers and only that's why Michael Penix NOW is having a good season in this moment.
But.....he was having a great season in 2020 before he got hurt.
@@buckfuttler2877 he's got an offensive line in front of him that has only given up 7 sacks in 12 games.
best qb in college
It's my favorite quarterback, but most people say he's not enough of a runner for the NFL. I don't know what you all think I've seen him play basketball like a super athlete, etc.
Dude had game while at Indiana
GO DAWGS☔️☔️
I get that his career was plagued by injuries at IU (two ACL tears where the first tear was completely UNTOUCHED, the second was effectively untouched - look them up), and that Kalen DeBoer's replacement as IU's offensive coordinator was not nearly as good as Kalen DeBoer, but how exactly did Penix get "screwed over" at IU?
He left because he could see that IU's offensive coordinator and offensive line coach were completely incompetent. IU fans understand this and I don't know any IU fans that have any resentment towards him. We get it.
No one at IU "screwed over" Penix.
That kid is the real fucking deal

I was confused thinking ... when is he going to the jets ... oh yeah, this isn't geno it's penix
This guy's arm is ridiculous!
Saints or Jets both could use a talent like him.
Umm jets???? Bahahahha
He's going to be a bust.
@@charlesbolton6736 no he won't, and stop hating. The only downside he has is injuries.
@@edwright7436 I know it sounds dumb I have nothing against Zach and I don't mind if he does well. I just see him as like a Bailey Zappe thing. But if he goes to the saints he will be a starter.

Calling it now, Seahawks will draft him late in second round

I WAS WRONG!! PENIX COMING BACK!!!!😃
IU Football 🏈 has a regionally cultural glitch in their Program: They Make Playing the Game Miserable; it's been the dead-end RUINATION of Hundreds of Michael Penix's IU Predecessors thru the years. Michael Penix Jr Made the RIGHT Move: He SAVED his Football Career by 'Breaking Away' from that cultural Midwest Misery in Basketball Bloomington and taking his Talent 'Downtown' 2 the West Coast, where he could see the Light-hearted Salvation of SEAttle! Football 🏈 is FUN Again! and Michael Penix Jr can SEE again! Go Dawgs!! ...and Thank the NCAA GAWD (what-took-U-so-long!!!) 4 the Transfer Portal!!! The Lack of it meant the RUINATION of HUNDREDS of VERY TALENTED Football 🏈 Players at IU, who ended up being 'STUCK' & 'SCREWED' by the masquerade of IU Football in B-Town. -Go WEST, Young Man!!!✅🥇🌎

Tampa bay Buccaneers need to start tanking right now 😂😂
As a proud father of a UW grad, I'm super-happy with Penix. That said, I wouldn't want the Seahawks (even without Geno) to draft him as I doubt his body could stand up the the pro-level abuse it would be exposed to. I see another tragic Roger Griffin III NFL career...but hope I'm wrong.
Good video. You just say insane too much.
What a bunch of BS. Indiana was the only D1 school that offered him as a QB. And he was injured every year he was there. Then skipped out and followed the coach to Washington.
That’s a lie cuz he was committed to Tennessee in high school before switching to Indiana
dawgs
Ok..5,6 or 7th rd
Sadly, he is injury prone.
Penix was good at Indiana but being the only good thing kills your career
Peyton ramsey was much better and got screwed over not getting drafted and was supposed to be 5th rd never got a chance
future seattle seahawk( like this comment when he is a hawk)
Well, the guy blew his knee out, twice. He was a good QB at Indiana, but obviously injury prone. Ask the Pelicans how drafting Zion Williamson worked out. Or Greg Odon? Zero chance he plays in the NFL for a year without getting injured again.
Tell that to Frank Gore
