Trying Your Dumb Rimworld Ideas

- I decided to play YOUR Rimworld colony ideas. on all my Rimworld videos I get a load of comments telling me what I should play next, sometimes they're not too bad, but most of the time they're absolutely awful.
In this video we cover 6 questionable Rimworld colonies, ranging from tribal people wielding logs as weapons, to a group of wasters trying to survive in a world where everything explodes for no reason, it was painful.
Rimworld's Steam description for the magical robot goblins -
Rimworld is a sci-fi colony sim driven by an intelligent AI storyteller. Generates stories by simulating psychology, ecology, gunplay, melee combat, climate, biomes, diplomacy, interpersonal relationships, art, medicine, trade, and more, wowzers get a load of that.

No Pawn Left Behind
Besides The One's That Died
Must pronounce *pawn* properly lest the robots hear.
Tea is best!!!
Always eat your colonists kids.
No -pawn- dwarf left behind
I'd love to see another No Pawn Left Behind run get its own video.
That was by far the most interesting one but I have other ideas that involve very large populations that are potentially more interesting.
@@HazzorPlaysGameshopefully more interesting than the breeding cult!
@@HazzorPlaysGames playing with Empire or Vanilla Outposts Expanded might improve it, you could build a whole network of settlements with all those people. Also, unwaveringly loyal pawns can still be enslaved, I believe, if you wanted to truly try to get *everyone.*
@@cuffedjeans7320I agree that rescuing unwaverlingly loyal pawns and releasing them is more in the spirit of no pawn left behind, although it does make it more difficult draining your resources. I believe mind wipe or mind break or whatever it's called in psycasts expanded also overrules unwaverlingly loyal so they can be recruited.
@@HazzorPlaysGames you put out great videos regardless, cant wait to see what you put out next.
Idea: make a flat map, with no rocks or ores or anything, but ramp up the asteroid spawn rate and get your resources through them
Edit for some clarification I just thought about: What I meant by flat map is by removing anything that’s mineable. Trees, berries, and maybe structures if you want, are unaffected. I mean, you could remove them if you really wanted to for that extra spike of masochism.
pp
it'd have to be riged right or his colony would just be crushed... maybe 1-5 times a quadrent...
Arent asteroids coded to not spawn too close to player made buildings?@@haydenrobbie7368
@@haydenrobbie7368 i mean this is basically it right? ruclips.net/video/KuAJ5k9u9kU/видео.htmlsi=-KoAsZGu88RkZ6o9
@@haydenrobbie7368 also meteors cant land on mountain tiles
You putting that "shelf" together actually terrified me. Warcrimes are one thing, but i draw the arbitrary line at poor power tool safety!
He also pulled a pp19 out of his ass
Yeah, that one hurt me physically.
This is what Construction level 1 looks like.
Australian maker channels be like
For very painful 5 or so seconds I really thought he would be driving a screw through his laminate just for the content.
Other ideas:
- Drunken raiders that want to party and drive fast vehicles
-Mutant colony, that only uses mutations / claws / whatever to fight
- Maybe a colony that relys on slaves for fighting?
- Or a mafia gang that runs a casino.
What about a colony that's all about industrialization and industry? Perhaps with a pinch of totalitarian architecture?
@@MixieCheekthat's just every normal colony ain't it?
So a 40K game?
Orks
Genestealer Cults
Tau
@@SollowP I don't think any of those factions run casinos. They should, though.
so what i'm getting is, fallout new vegas in rimworld
Somehow you look exactly how i thought you would.
Congratulations, you're the first person who looks like their voice sounds i've ever encountered.
same here
Same!
Honestly, thought he would look similar to JackFrags.
I thought the complete opposite hahaha, but so glad we got a face reveal
i thought hed have a bigger beard funnily enough
I'm disappointed that the sapling baby run ended with the dryad accidentally committing infanticide. If only there was a way to do a _proper_ sapling baby run...
He could have just forbidden the door right?
@@pinkliongaming8769 I don't know; I haven't managed to get dryads in any of my colonies.
@@timothymcleanthey are like a dog mixed with a pawn (do the things that a dog can do but they can be recruited to fight like a normal pawn) so it would have been possible for the baby to grow to child if the dryad were recluted in the correct moments to prevent them from hauling the child, but that would have mean a lot of effort and micromanaging
@@sebastiannavarro9686 And it takes a while for a baby to grow into a child capable of feeding itself. Hm. That stinks.
@@timothymclean Yeah, the other option it would have been to recruit the dryads and place them in a room without food until they die of hunger, or send them to attack a more powerful adversary(a bear for example) to kill them, in both cases the risk of unwanted "rescue" of the baby is gone, with this come the real and huge risk of the turrets running out of ammo before the baby grow big enough to do hauling, because the only animal capable of doing hauling are now ded
If the 'shelf' stands for 100 days then we can safely assume that Hazzor succeeded in one of the challenges.
Better alternative to the weird, boring, breeding colony idea: Maximise genetic chaos, by any means available, start with 3-5 colonists of distinct genotypes, see how scrambled you can make their genes and/or their clones'/offsprings' genes within a set timeframe whether by gene editing, gene siphons, splicing, whatever is available within your preferred mod set. Maybe have a big hazard or crisis set to occur at the end of the time period and see if your genetic circus can survive and overcome it.
I love doings this in some games, hybrids are so interesting due to how random they can be. Neanderthals make some interesting combo's, impids not so much. Plus throw in some modded types and your really cooking!
Or just do an incest only colony
@@OddHornedNinjathere's some that add stuff like dragon claws and stuff, so it could get really chaotic and fun
I have never seen your face. It is about what I expected. Perfection.
Hair was a bit of a surprise to me, but otherwise spot on :)
Idea: Make the most morally upstanding colony you possibly can, only accept goodwill quest rewards. I'm genuinely curious how much harder rimworld is when you can't act like a psychopath.
Suggestion 4, the breeder cult. That had me in stiches for a while. Chad brought his MOM. He's no chad. . . he's a Mama's Boy *points and laughs*
She was HEAVILY invested in being a grandmother i guess
Idea: Make a raider colony with an ideology that needs to raid consistently to sustain the colony. Sort of like the Night Lords from 40K
finally a good one
call it Jugg, a traditional name from my people for robbing
You mean drukhari (dark eldar)
Night lords just like killing
I could be wrong but didnt he do that already in the with VE vehicules video?
@@t_gabiuel6058 I remember that video but this is less extermination and more capture the innocent and loot resources to sustain the colony
Hey folks, here's something a bit different, should I make another?
If so, give me ideas.
In any case, this was fun to make so I hope you enjoy it.
im just surprised you have a face, you were just a voice in my head for a while.
Rimjobworld mod playthrough :D
only a few minutes it and its already a super interesting video! Would love a part two. Good vid!
love your shelf humor, do continue
Try to make 1 million silver using only children under 13, name your faction Nike and name your colony China
Do a mega pain playthrough where you start out with a bunch of colonists with only one set of working appendages. One guy has only arms, one guy has only legs, etc etc. United they form one functional colonist.
Hazzor building a shelf but then "suddenly gun" was not something i was expecting but it was funny
You've got an incredibly based shelf.
You have just received a trade request from the Republic of Texas for as many shelves as you can make. We're not picky we just want as many as you can make.
Beer only. For sustenance, weaponry, trade goods... There is only beer.
Here’s an idea based on a run I’m currently doing. Select an island and try to get to space from that, starting as either crash landed survivors, a clan, or a tribe. I’ve done tropical but others might work as well. You can recruit whoever you deem fit, but with an island not only is your space limited, as are most of your resources, you can’t actually leave the island for quest locations and the like until you research drop pods. People can still raid you and caravans can still show up, but you can’t send either until you have the right tech.
I love your content Hazzor! Because of your wonderful quality I got convinced to buy Rimworld and expierience my own crazy stuff
You look both exactly like you sound and not like it at all. International man of mystery, right here. Love the vid, as per usual, and keep up the great work.
11:22 - I like how you've decided to put the grave of the mother inside the school-barracks that her kid will inevitably learn at and live in. Staring at a grave of hid mother who died to birth him, day in and day out, is surely not gonna fuck the kid up, lol.
21:36 bro hit almost all headshots on the guy dying on the floor. He knew what he was doing.
Idea: Make a char who uses only guns and can only make money by selling weapons and components. Also tanks, because tanks are cool.
So an arms dealer
Fabrique Nationale gameplay(except they are not selling tanks)
He wrote char as in character. I read that as “Char” aka “The Red Comet”
(Please get Profitable Weapons mod if you do this, Hazzor.)
@@KujiArgisia Didn't even know that was a mod. Thanks. Now I can turn my colony into a manufacturer of fine reproductions of historical small arms.
Always a high point when a new upload appears!
Theres a mod called "spread the word" that allows you to free ideologically converted pawns and convert factions to your ideology. Maybe try a run where you convert as many of the factions to your ideology? Would make it an interesting balance of recruiting who you want but having to let some go so your goal can be achieved.
Oh, the Civ religious victory option!
I bet it's as much of a PITA in Rimworld as it is in Civ.
For some weird (but not that hard) colony ideas: Hospitalers / "Do No Harm" colony.
TL;DR before the long post: No violence allowed for pawns. Only autonomous weapons/traps. Be the kindest colony with the greatest medical care for everyone (including prisoners). No slaves. Child eductation, not child labor.
Specifics:
You'd have to:
- Keep all your pawns unarmed (non-violent pawns are preferable). Armour and shield-belts are fine and encouraged;
- Have an ideology where Charity is at least at the Important level;
- Focus on having the greatest and most advanced hospital possible, and as many medical-trained pawns as possible;
- In general, only do surgery if it will be actively helpful, no organ harvesting or human skin industry, and overall be a nice guy colony with genuinely good care for all, including prisoners.
- Like in "No Pawn left Behind" you gotta save everyone you can, but you don't have to recruit them - just make sure they're healthy and release them. Buy and free any slave you can.
- If you want to raise children, focus on educating them (if you get a choice of medicine skill passion, or a medicine-boosting trait, you gotta choose that) and letting them play, rather than forcing them to work.
- If you want to run Vanilla Ideology Expanded mod, then the suggested ideology memes are: Pacifist, Healthcare, and Emancipation;
For combat, you CAN use:
- traps;
- turrets;
- Mechanoids (though that would probably turn the playthrough into a somewhat regular mechanitor run, and it might end up boring, so your choice);
- Non-violent psycasts are ok (so buffs/debuffs and even stuns are valid, but stuff like berserk or flashstorm aren't).
- The only exception is if you get something like a toxifier/defoliator/psychic drop ship that you *have to* attack to activate - you can do that, for sanity's sake;
Weapons that are not hand-carried, but are still operated by a pawn (such as mortars, or piles of chemfuel that are manually detonated by a mlotov, or the single-use orbital cannons/lasers) are disallowed, as they require the pawn to do the shooting/burning.
The "No Pawn Left Behind" idea is just the start of my average Kenshi Playthrough, everyone joins.
Random slave? Welcome to freedom, friend! Now work for me.
A holy nation soldier i found almost dead? Prepare for reeducation, do not resists.
God do i love the "Recruit Prisoners" mod
I'd like to see a raider colony that never really stays in one place for more than 30 days, progressing to the final goal of defending the landed ship to escape the planet. Ideally with stuff like Rim Cities for more interesting over-world generation.
you do know unwaveringly loyal pawns CAN be Enslaved they're not particularly easy to keep but they can be enslaved
For a moment, I was certain you were going to screw that wood into your floor.
Change the scenario settings when you start a game so that a worksite spawns every day. You're only allowed to use resources you take by force.
Cannibal raiders is how you'd win that. Food would probably be too difficult to obtain otherwise.
You've got a good eye for fun scenarios. Even though these were "bad" suggestions I think you did well with them and showed the potential they have.
Ah Logge, The only weapon that can roll down stairs (Both alone or in pairs), is great for a snack, & can fit on your back!
you look even better than i thought you would. Thank you Hazzor for making this year more enjoyable
A colony where you need to build some kind of structure for every pawn you get. In exchange, they get some buff (or they don't, you're the boss).
The Shelf Colony was absolutely bloody marvelous 😂
Your narrating style totally cracks me up. You even make the failures entertaining. Well done! Liked and subscribed!
>Talks about the chad being a cavedweller
>expresses shock he brought his mum with him
that breeding colony kinda reminded me of the sliders episode where 99% of men died and are now religated to breeding centers and basicaly turned into sprem banks (yes im old leave me alone)
With vanilla psycasts expanded you can use the tribal psycast tree to summon brambles. Those are logs but less loggier but for a cheaper price per log
Here is an idea for a rimworld colony. You crank up that maximum number of colonies as high as you can (possibly using a mod to make it infinite) then use the extra small map size. This way you end up with a cluster of small interdependant colonies and require a large population.
This is the first time I've seen one of your vids, instant sub!
As other suggested a long form No Pawn Left Behind would be a fun watch.
Yoooooo, Warhammer! Dude those Troggoths on the top shelf look sick
They're top shelf Troggoths.
King for a day; each season a new colony leader is selected and gets to live in extreme luxury. For bonus points; the person who is lowest in the leader's social tab has to live in utter squalor, preferably with corpses and rats, for the season. Optionally administer beatings to improve morale.
This was such a good video idea, i hope we can suggest another for a next (also that was a great shelf)
Basically FO4 Raiders- You cant research, the entire map is permanant toxic fallout, you cannot trade, but you can do quests as well as pick your own xenotype and starter scenario :)
the amount of work in that video. Bravo Hazzor, love it
While we're throwing ideas at the wall to see what sticks, what about a frostpunk dystopia to utopia? The end goal being to create a massive greenhouse/indoor park.
Bonus points if its a mainly phytokin colony
You mean wonderful ideas?
No I'm pretty sure I hit the nail on the head with Terrible
You mean ideas?
Yea The ideas was original and quite good
I loved this. Also, idea: instead of a breeding facility, have a sterile bunch that kidnaps exclusively children from the surrounding neighbors and speeds up their growth before genetically sterilizing and inducting them into the kidnapping horde. The more that can be converted, the better the imaginary score. :) Survival is, of course, optional.
Idea: Using Biotech, create a colony where most menial tasks (digging, harvesting, defense, etc) are performed by your lab grown mutants. Leniency rule: your starting pawn(s) may perform such actions up until the first mutant is born, so you don't die because nobody planted anything.
I have a bad idea for you.
Androids only, vs zombies.
"The old masters fell, and now they rise again."
Use vanilla expanded androids in a zombie mod. That way your colonists aren't screwed over with a single bite, but getting new colonists and fixing your current ones is more difficult
Another Hazzor banger! Also loving the face reveal 👀
So I just discovered channel and I just wanted to say, I love your voice. It really helps to tell the story
a mildly interesting one: only one of your colonists can fight, you are also not allowed turrets, you can make them a sanguophage or a custom xenotype and you are allowed to hand pick their traits, i do recommend Vanilla psycasts expanded to help increase this characters power further, if this character dies you can replace them
TLDR: a supersoldier run, but the supersoldier and only the supersoldier can fight
You should play no pawns left behind + HAL 5000 improved combat ai mod for rimworld, might be fun to see how you deal with smart raiders.
What is bow if not log draw out and with a piece of string, firing smaller logs at enemies?
Stun-log people
damn, missed a trick.
@@HazzorPlaysGames a wooden spear is a thinner log, right?
Coloniy of Hanzos from the early days of Overwatch.
"Locked into the Bonk Zone." My new favorite line.
Idea: install the highlanders immortals mod and make an organ harvesting colony based on harvesting organs from this one single immortal. They basically can't die unless they are specifically decapitated. If one immortal decapitates another, the winner grows stronger (allowing them to regrow limbs, organs, ect), you could have a bunch of lesser immortals or one super tough one or whatever.
Thats the best shelf making I've seen.
Convoy: Using the vehicles and set up camp mods, you play as a nomadic convoy, living off whatever items you can carry in your vehicles. Limit of 3-5 days per camp. You constantly have to balance resources, while constantly expanding your convoy with new vehicles etc
Thanks! @HazzorPlaysGames
Line city, you can only build on 1 axis x or y, you can choose the width but you cant excede that width for the rest of the playthrough pawns are allowed to leave the line city, if you want an extra challenge try to keep farms inside the line as well
A goal could be connect one edge of the home tile too the other side
(yes this is a bribe)
Bribe accepted.
This is going to be fun
You actually did it, respect.
A whole colony that runs on Luciferium. 4 to 5 colonist at the start with 20 Lucis. You can use whatever start you want. If you want to add the extra challenge, you can try to recruit more colonists and give them lucis as well.
This is so insane. I remember watching you play PoE on twitch years ago! I'm glad to see you doing well!
Lol neat, I'm currently painfully addicted with affliction league.
Help.
Wood + 660 GPU = PP - 19 appearntly ... good to know
Can we get Monica as a semi regular colonist to show up in other videos ...she's hilarious and whenever she's not on screen the other characters should be saying "Where's Monica?"
Or rather "where the f**k is that f**king f**kface of a genie?"
Here's some ideas:
"The Carrington Event:" a world locked in a permanent solar flare.
A colony of Jedi: melee only, everyone is psychic, and have a code to forswear possessions and to defend the innocent. Also you're permanent enemies of the empire.
Jurassic Diner: a Hospitality playthrough where you have to run a successful inn and restaurant on a map overrun with dinosaurs.
this is a really good series goodjob!
I still think a zero waste challenge is a good idea
I knew that voice came with a beard 😂
Tribal Start in the Swamp with Medieval overhaul with the objective of actually getting to the space ship.
I didn’t know what I expected you to look like but for some reason I love it
HAZZOR FACE REVEAL?? Unless I'm being stupid and you stream on twitch
It's been here and there already.
As an expansion to the log only idea, have you thought about improvised weapons only? (some mods may greatly help this), since in the basegame, there are 4 improvised weapons: Wood, Beer, Elephant Tusk, and Thrumbo Horn.
I have a game going right now where i got up to like 30 megasloths, found out that they are actually great haulers and fighters, you should do a run where you breed an army of animals like bears or sloths or elephants and see if you can use them for all of your combat.
Idea: do a naked brutality run where you cannot recruit any other pawn. Essentially one permanent pawn. You can have refugees help you though but they have to leave and you cannot accept any refugee wishing to join you. You can have up to three slaves but must emancipated them at the end of the quandrum.
Great shelf brother!
Every day is a good day when Hazzor records your idea. Glad no pawn left behind (almost) made it!
Two ideas: Leper Colony: Every pawn must be missing one limb and one eye - if Leprosy isn't something you can actually give them, it's been awhile since I played Rimworld. Every new pawn must also have one eye and a limb removed.
"Scavengers" You get nothing, you can create nothing. Everything must be looted from the surrounding area, given to you by Randy, or taken off a dead raider.
Thank you hazzor, I fucking love you and your videos, keep doing what you’re doing geeza
Corpse Party:
Corpses must always be present in all working and living spaces
Squirrel King:
One man and his army of squirrels
Keeping it in the Family:
All pawns must be inbred
Turrets Syndrome:
Your pawns cannot engage in direct combat. Only turrets and possibly mortars allowed.
Love it! Keep them going!
I'd love a closer look at that back shelf of Warhammer 😍 I paint a lot of Skaven but once im done with my backlog I'm looking for something fresh. That shelf looks inspiring :P
As a construction worker the shelf was excruciating to watch.
An Excellent looking Shelf, you are certainly a good crafter
I tried this one scenario that I called "The dark world" where you have two pawns, both blind. They must survive in a world infested with insects, mechs, and other colonies, the Rimworld. It is VERY hard to get things going at first. There are ways around it and each time you try it can change up depending on what the story dictates.
I didn't know I needed a Hazzor DIY channel but now I do
Extremely late idea submission;
The pawns, 5 tribals, start with an ideoligion that forbids mining, animal killing, and tree cutting, and optionally has raider/supremacist on top and they don't mind wearing tainted gear. These folk only get things by raiding - I have enjoyed playing this run a few times and usually give them terrible craft/construct/art through a xenotype to enforce the 'pay the iron price' mentality.
You can put a lot of different spins on this one using different combos of stuff like medieval overhaul, VRE tribals, making them outdoor-sleeping yttakin, going big on gauranlen/psychics, etc. Whatever seems fun.
I usually like more of a relaxing experience, and I have gotten into a mood in which I'm sick of all the fighting in video games, so I tend to play RimWorld in a peaceful mode, with raids turned off. However, I still like to have some challenges. I have come close to following that last idea - accept any potential colonist who comes along regardless of how troublesome they may be. It can result in a rapidly growing colony, though without captured raiders, it doesn't grow quite as fast. Food, space, and interpersonal strife can be troublesome at times, and pyromaniacs can be counted on to spice things up, but it helps to have a lot of workers.
Another good peaceful mode challenge is difficult environments. Without meat that can be obtained from raiders via cannibalism, the ice sheet is nearly impossible in the early game, and I don't think sea ice is possible at all without a custom scenario in which the colonists start with a lot of extra supplies. I've attempted the ice sheet a few times, with a success rate of about 20%. A little good luck can barely get the colonists through the early game, and once they get hydroponics going, it is easy from that point.
I wonder what other sorts of peaceful mode challenges are feasible, especially with mods. Typically, these games get very easy once the colony is firmly established unless there is a major environmental catastrophe, and it simply becomes a sort of creative mode for building. The "accept every potential colonist" rule helps to spice things up in the later game, so I usually at least partially follow this. I think in my next game, I'll follow it to the extreme and see what happens.
I suppose my idea would be to find some combination of challenges for the peaceful mode that will make the colonists just as miserable as in a colony that is constantly beset by raiders. Some combination of bad environment, accepting all potential colonists, and crazy genetics or difficult ideologies could do the trick.
I'd love to see you do the start from Rim of Madness where one of your pawns is a secret werewolf. Bonus points if you keep the full moon madness on past their reveal.
i gotta get a close up of those minis in the back Hazzor- are those skaven I see? 👀👀
You actually could do the "start with only the sapling child" start! The dryad race creates food while in sunlight, so so long as the dryads don't rescue her, and she continues to sit outside on the ground, she will generate her own food and survive. So long as the temperature does not kill her.
what a nice shelf you made there. also nice squig lmao
"Abort, ABORT! ITS HIS MOM!" That killed me, I legit was not expecting anything of the sort. xD
No pawn left behind reminds me of the time I had a 1:6 colonist to voluntary worker ratio before the end of the first year, and with four colonists I somehow never starved, it was just a really big raid that 25 unarmed pawns can’t stop.
That shelf would make an amazing extra-curricular school project.
What a beautifully crafted shelf, a true masterwork.
