First playthrough using this guide and I finish at the 15 min 11 second mark...I died at the second little jump. Second playthrough I finally got it. 11 minutes 49 seconds. Both playthroughs my warthog flipped end over end on the big jump. I swear there is something I'm doing. I freak out every time I make that jump
Tried one before it and couldn't jump up after the thing opened so had to keep going up which wasted too much time.
After the video, I got one death which knocked me back at least a minute then THOUGHT the technique shown worked as it did the explosions and I could jump up mostly, but unfortunately YOU DO HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE THINGS TO OPEN so doing it that double way cannot be relied upon. The indicators all disappeared and then Cortana said there's one more 🤬 even though it wasn't showing. So I assumed it was done but the door was locked and THEN the indicator appeared for the one I had apparently missed. Did that but fell down because a flood was in the way of the jump and went wrong way and back, then finally got the hell into the final run, was ok (no flips) and got 17:50.
So trying again soon...
Now that's it's fixed ,Halo mcc is awesome again & got this 1st try. Your vids are perfect.
I don't know what I'm doing, but I've now died three straight times because of front flipping on the big jump.
4 years too late to notify you that you shouldn't try to slow down at the end of the jump.
Lol I always mess up on the big jump.
As a slightly faster alternative to using rockets to destroy the couplings--at least on easy--just stand on the platform with the shutter controls and after activating either one of them, sidle over to the edge of the platform and bounce a frag grenade inside the coupling to destroy it. It's makes that section a bit easier. : )

Yeah, I was doing my own par time run- through on this level a while back, and I kind of tried it on impulse. Doesn't work on higher difficulties though, which sucks. : (
By the way, did you see my other comment on your par time video for Assault on the Control Room? Not trying to bug you or anything; I just want to know if you saw it or not. : )
hell yea. im 30 years old but ijust par timed every halo ce map on easy lol

Halo CE is te best Halo out of all of them
A pretty challenging extension to this if you want to try, is to beat this level on normal difficulty in under 10 minutes. I enjoy that because usually it comes down to a matter of a few seconds. Legendary can be done in 12ish.
For some reason I can't get this. If I do a speed run, when I get to the four ports that need destroyed, they glitch and become indestructible. I open them up, and fire 8 rockets into them and toss grenades, and not even one will blow up.
Michael Holly are you making sure to fire the rockets/grenades when the shafts are open? A grate/cover alternates between protecting them and leaving them open. The shafts are invincible when the cover is protecting it. You should be able to see almost a fiery red when they are open compared to when they are closed. Hope this helps.
Anders Alstrup Yeah im making sure. I’ve played that level at least 15 times and never had that problem. I haven’t replayed it yet to see if it happens again.
Michael Holly odd. In all the times on the classic halo 1, halo cea, and mcc I've never had the hits not register not sure what to tell you other than maybe quit the game and when it opens up again speedrunning to the section on easy ignoring the enemies. Maybe it was an issue when loading the level.
YES! I gave up entirely because the game makes me throw 4 grenades and 2 rockets just to MAYBE explode the reactors
This is true for me as well. I just came to the comments to see if anyone else was having this problem.
ty so much for the guides....did not like the idea i had to use easy but some cases it made sense.....lvl 3, 7 and 8 were most annoying due to glitches and stuff......but it helped so much....ty

I guess if you beat it in 15:00 it doesn’t count as par time. Guess how I found out
Got two deaths due to chain reactions setting me back twice by 2mins. Im so done with the flood in this game.
The jumping mechanic on this game is infuriating
I did this and the Thirsty Grunt both at the same time with like 2 minutes to spare. Really easy.
EDIT: Also, I used grenades for the reactors, not rockets.
I just can't jump back on the catwalk in the engine room.

@@shubhverma9313 yeah that's real easy when they decided that you can't use the control stick to crouch like on console.
Anybody else have the reactors take a thousand grenades to destroy?
I got out of the Warthog where you were at 10:05, and my Warthog killed me -_-

It was always like that and it will always be like that: My hog front flips every single damn time. It doesn't kill me everytime though.

I don't know which was worse initially: doing this without being ejected or Legendary with a spare minute.
Par time on this should absolutely be 20 minutes.
So I got the par times on every Halo CE mission and I got all 10 achievements, but for some reason I never got the "Did Somebody Say..." achievement for completing all of them. Is anybody else having this issue?
Edit: I also just got the overachiever achievement for getting the par score on all levels so I have no idea why I got that one but not the other
Looks like I'm one of the unfortunate few who got the bug where the "Did Somebody Say..." achievement doesn't unlock after beating the par time for all levels. I got all of the individual par time achievements, but the main one didn't pop for me.

This level is trash people blinded by nostalgia and "omg warthog ride" every other level has a warthog on it
The level is fine. If you go charging in like a dickhead of course you'll die super quick. The whole point of the Flood is that you HAVE to use different tactics. If you can't handle that and don't like that you can't just charge in guns blazing all the time, then maybe this isn't the game for you.
The level is overrated but it's certainly not bad.
@@tTaseric I wouldn't say overrated. The warthog run is an iconic finale. The reactor room is hot garbage though and whoever said that room could be shipped and that par time should be 15 minutes should die in seven fires.
