    Hi Geoff, they look very good! I will make them soon, I just made strawberry scones today. I was inspired by an episode of "Father Brown" where Mrs. McCarthy had just made a batch of her award winning Strawberry scones and I got hungry for some reason... They were actually very good and were reminiscent of a strawberry short cake so we had them for desert,

    Hi Geoff,
    I made the Cherry Scones this morning. A great way to use up some glacé cherries. These are wonderful! I love the almond flavour from the extract. It always enhances the cherry flavour. Delicious with butter! I’ll have to try your Hot Crossed Bun Scones. They sound mouthwatering! Cheers, Judith 😋😊

    Hello, Geoff Cooper. I'll bake those scones someday for sure and the fact that you made it with sugary cherries (I think) helps me a lot because fresh cherries are very rare in here.
    Thank you for another great recipe!

      Hi Olga. I hope you enjoy the scones when you do make some. The cherries are sugary, known as glace cherries or candied cherries. They taste very good.

    Wonderful recipe uncle Geoff ...very therapeutic...Perceval a old gentleman friend of mine is convinced .. You are from Shropshire...he enjoys working out accents ...now he thinks your from Devon . Any clues without revealing so we can work it out .

    • @geoffsbakingblog
      @geoffsbakingblog  2 года назад

      Hi Hugh & Sir Barney. Thanks very much. Percival is not correct with either Shropshire which would be more Midlands/Northern, or Devon which would have more of a burr to the accent. The county in which I was raised no longer exists, at least in so far as postal addresses go, but there is still a cricket team.

      @@geoffsbakingblog Percival has been thrown off course Geoff but I am confident he will navigate those strong waves . A county that doesn't exist ....what a wonderful conundrum . I have to get busy doing some of uncle Geoff's recipes to accompany percivals pots of teas . I watch the dirty rascals cakes last night . I don't like anything with currants ,sultanas ,etc ..but I would love your take on some biscuits with dessicated coconut in them .hmmm

    Hello Geoff,
    Hope you're doing well!
    I love scones and cherry so definitely am going to make that soon. I do have a couple of questions though.
    1. I am not fond of the egg wash, I normally replace it with milk, shall I do the same with this recipe?
    2. I already have frozen cherries, does it work with them too? Do I have to add some more sugar?
    Cheers and happy baking
    Eli

    • @geoffsbakingblog
      @geoffsbakingblog  2 года назад +2

      Hi Elissar. Yes you can use milk instead of egg wash, it will be fine. The cherries I used are glace cherries(candied cherries) which means they are sticky and the flesh is slightly chewy,. They are also sweet since they have been candied. Using fresh or frozen cherries might work, though I think they would release liquid during cooking so the end result wont be quite the same. You could add a little more sugar but I don't think that would be necessary.

      @@geoffsbakingblog Thank you for your prompt reply Geoff, I will get some glacé cherries then, I don't want to jeopardise the scones.
