I know this is old, but I started trying this build and I absolutely love it! I end up getting fresh foodstuffs in feudal and then in age start getting all eco upgrades while spamming ghulams. Eco bonuses for Abbasid really makes this build sing. And ghulams with bootcamp and +2 ranged can just walk under tc and stay there. It is incredibly disruptive! You are also setup well to secure relics and transition to farms if the ghulams dont close out the game. I need to figure out a good time to get 2nd tc as well. Overall amazing build, feels really good. I’d only recommend towering your gold as any tower rush or early maa rush on your gold will completely ruin this build.
I got it to 6 mins. You were right, if you have only 3 on wood that 1 extra guy makes the process much quicker. Steps: 1) 6 mill berries +1 TC 2) +4 gold TC - build mining camp and 3) + 4 on food. 4) during level up to feudal - 3 on wood 6) upgrade the thing in culture wing 5) the rest on food. when i hit 18 on food I should have enough for castle Note: it is faster to castle but i think delaying castle a little bit in order to get more wood is better for a real game. My strategy took too long to get enough wood since in castle i purely put like 15 on wood. then another 5 on gold. but takes too long to get the buildings up since i had 3 villagers on wood to start with. good luck!
Best I got is 6.40 on my first try. Loaded with gold but I'm definitely digging the culture /military wing. It's great when you scout and see them going fast castle as well, you know they aren't pushing. The camels really help if they build cavs and the infantry abassid build dominate the rest
I have a 76% win rate with Abbasid so far this season! Hope this helps...it's definitely a little riskier than the 2-3 tc opening, but can be quite good.
Was the opponent doing the right thing going for an age-up during the raid? Seems impossible to put down enough production to produce crossbows fast enough while villagers are being idled. But spamming enough spears, horsemen, and/or expensive camel archers seems just as difficult when ghulams are just running around the base attacking villagers. Would trying to wall up the choke points on the hill have been better? That might have at least pushed you to pivot some of your resource gathering back to wood to produce battering rams or something while allowing villagers to gather and leverage that eco advantage. I guess the best counter to this requires actually having initially scouted the culture wing in the first place and building walls and trying to prevent the ghulams from getting into the base? There were theoretically 7 minutes between when the culture wing could have been first spotted and when the raids started. Even if castle age is delayed, I'd bet that walling up and having a couple camel archers to punish attempts by the ghulams to burn down the wall would be more favorable than having spears and horsemen taking terrible melee engagements. So Eco Wing might still be viable?
I'm winning all games with this strategy and I don't even pull it exactly the same I mean I'm not good at macros so my castle age time is around about 9:40. But every time my opponent is surprised and tap out within the next two minutes... That's insane. But I think this strategy is only viable at low level match up because within those 9 and a half minute my base was barely attacked. I think the only way to counter this strategy is to attack early and idle the villagers on gold or food and at the same time castle age yourself. Still I have a lot of 12 minutes duration fun... 😅
@@FitzBro Do you have any neat trick to make the archers focus on the crossbowmen instead of frontline? So far I'm just shift clicking attack command on specific units to "force" them to prioritise the crossbows and spears. But I find this to be rather sub-optimal.
@@Kameeho you have to put them in a control group and manually click the crossbows. It's hard for sure, I prefer using horsemen to get on top of crossbows.

Any thoughts on this matchup against English or China? I find that that if they go 2 TC, all their extra TC fire shreds my Ghulams with both ranged defense upgrades, and I don't feel like my economy is strong enough to spam them fast enough to keep my opponent idle. Also what about vs Malians? Their Musofadi counter the Ghulam's pretty hard

So you go for a dark age Golden Age 2? An interesting idea, I guess it could be worth it if you aren't going for 2tc or fresh foodstuffs, but pretty risky against any civ that might want to pressure you.
Okay so I was pretty skeptical after just watching Aussie Drongo’s Abba guide but this is genius. Had no idea that culture wing lowered age up cost! I like having the option to fast castle and it seems mostly straightforward except I wouldn’t want to rely on pushing deer. I feel like I like the 2-3 TC guide but that’s an impressive castle time and definitely something I’d want in my back pocket

Absolutely, especially since you will likely see crossbows to counter them (which archers trade against efficiently)

I have had success against English and China players who sit back and boom against this. Malians would definitely be hard to try this strategy on.
Archers absolutely shred Musofadi

@@Skilliard You have to pilot Abbasid's using Russia's approach to any conflict. Keep throwing bodies at the problem until it isn't a problem.
