Cheers, Judi! We went there back in 2021. It was hard to contact anyone from there when we edited the episode during the last few weeks, but we checked current satellite images and saw that all of the sinkholes were filled in recently. It took them long enough though!

I have found many times that people that have the least are the most giving.

Firstly if ever passing through Dubrovnik again, don’t be strangers
There are def many abandoned places across BiH and HR. Not far from Dubrovnik heading in direction of the airport is Kupari where there are several abandoned hotels that were damaged during the Balkan conflicts of the 1990’s
Croatia holds a special place in my heart. Friends from many years live in Zadar. Their home is part of the city wall, and was shelled during the conflict, but not destroyed. Joso single-handedly bought and equipped a school of music in Zadar, and created an art installation in the centre square. He has passed away, but his family still stay for portions of the year, and his Wife stays there.
These sinkholes are becoming more widespread, and dangerous. Thank you for documenting the trials these people are suffering. Your empathy for these villagers is a beautiful tribute. I have watched you grow so much since your school years into the confident and conscientious young men of conviction and principles you have become. I am proud of your accomplishments, as if you were my Grandsons (I hope you don’t mind), but my beloved Husband of 48 years passed away on Saturday, April 13th, at 3:10AM, and now I am alone to document our collections. I will need to redo my Patreon when the estate has been probated, and I know what I have to work with. Sorry it won’t be coming in until then. I love you gentlemen, you are amazing.🖤🇨🇦

To be fair to the guy who's thinking it was man-made, similar cave-ins are also happening over the underground limestone mines in the places when it was actively mined and later abandoned. I live near a place like that where millions of tons were extracted in the 19 and 20th century and now that area is forbidden to anyone.

Great story guys. Looks like I have some catching up to do as youtube has failed to notify me of new videos. Not the first time, but hopefully it won't happen again. Always look forward to your content. My heart went out to these people. I grew up in California and earthquakes are just a part of life. I've been through a couple big ones myself and can emphasize with the feelings that go with them. Especially after seeing the destruction. It can take years to bounce back from such powerful quakes. Hopefully these people managed to pick up their lives and recover by now.
We have the feeling people in the Balkans are quite tough and resilient. It's cool to hear that you can share their emotions and feel with them! We never experienced an earthquake, must be frightening as hell when the ground starts to shake.
Regarding the missing notifications - try to activate the little bell. Apart from that, we'll upload a video now every two weeks again. Unfortunately the algorythm of RUclips does not seem to like our videos that much anymore, so about 95% of the subscribers don't even get a notification. Sharing our content helps a lot to get back on track.

@@bwturbex earthquakes can be pretty scary, depending on how strong it is and how far you are from the epicenter. But when you live in earthquake prone areas you learn to live with them. When the big ones hit and you watch your world come crumbling down around you, there is a moment of despair and you feel frighten like a child. Once the shock wears off you dust yourself off and start counting your blessings. Then you roll up your sleeves and pick up what you. Repair what can be repaired and rebuild with better building practices. Retrofitting has come a long way from the time their little village was built. It is sad to see such a cute little village reduced to rubble, but hopefully they are on the road to repairing their lives and rebuilding their homes.
As for youube not notifying me, I've been a subscriber for years. I've been having issues with other channels too. I'm not sure what is going in with the algorithm. It's been very strange lately about not letting me know when some people ha e uploaded. It's happened in the past too. It eventually sorted itself out. Hopefully it will again this time too.

The Seawatch neighbourhood in Vancouver BC Canada, residents were ordered to evacuate in 2019 neighbourhood are directly affected by sinkhole activity, the world is becoming more and more affected by natural disaster, it is scary indeed, thank you for sharing interesting to know about it happened on other parts of the world as well.

geologically, this isn't anything particularly puzzling, I think. the concept however has a junji-ito-esque quality to it.
Yeah, there is a logical explanation to it but you just wouldn't expect such holes to open up next to your house during the night. Quite special and interesting, that's why we thought we'll cover this story even though it's not 100 percent urbex. You like those kind of documentaries?
die Geologie im Balkan ist ein eigenes Kapitel, vor allem wenn man auch die Küstenregionen kennt und Teile der Gebiete vor Millionen von Jahren noch Meeresboden waren... und ja, es gibt auch Menschengemachte Sinkholes... eben durch Bergbau, Tunnelbau, Bunkeranlagen, etc. aber grad dort hast du halt eben viel Kalkgestein und auch entsprechend Niederschlag... jedenfalls schön zu sehen, dass die Menschen dort nicht alle aufgeben wollen, sondern einfach weiter machen, auch wenn es nicht einfach ist

Sinkholes typically occur in places where there used to be an abundance of ground water
Ground water would probably create instability especially in sedimentary layered areas (sandstone. limestone etc) An earthquake could open up those weaker spots?
The gentleman who said the earthquake was caused by technology is very smart..only question is why certain individuals would want to do that to a small village.land, resources..?

When I lived in a karst region, there was a slightly aged sinkhole nearby. At the bottom was a little pond with an even smaller island where an alligator lived. I felt sorry for the alligator because I imagine he went hunting for a girlfriend one night and somehow ended up in there all alone and forever unable to get a date because the sides were too steep to climb out. The best he could hope for was an overly adventurous kid to fall in and make a meal fit for the king of the tiny domain.
At the far end of our front yard there was an area where the horses didn't like to go because the ground sounded hollow under their hooves. It continued through a neighbor's property and into an area I couldn't go. One day the neighbor found his mailbox and news paper box on the ground. He thought they had been vandalized until he tried to pick them up and realized the posts were still attached. Hours later, they and part of the road fell into a hole. Later, driveway and a small tree. As a kid, I was disappointed because it stopped there because I had visions of a nice swimming hole with crystal clear water pouring out of a cave to explore. Instead it was filled in with a couple dump truck loads of sand.
A few miles away a huge one opened up. It ate part of a citrus grove and several houses. When we went to have a look, a driveway and a sports car slid into the pit. It did become a lake but too far away to be my swimming hole.
The Balkan villagers should talk a scuba diver into have a look at the bottoms of the water filled sinkholes. Maybe a few have cave openings for tourists, or potential to be nice springs.

Maybe the earthquake was an underground explosion that resulted in a large number of secondary detonations of munitions in secret subterranean caches?
Funny you should mention sinkholes, cause there's one that's causing trouble in a Romanian town as we speak... in Slanic Prahova. The people living there are being forced to evacuate and basically abandon their belongings, because the authorities aren't sure they'll be able to ensure their safety if the buildings start collapsing too.
I'm from that village, it's been known for a long time that there is a large pool with fresh water under the ground, we exploited too much water and there was an earthquake, a normal phenomenon appeared, come on, don't invent hot water, hot water was discovered a long time ago

HAARP, while I am not a conspiracy theorist, these are some of the things that HAARP could do, but also, poor water management, with leaks in lines could have created some issues as well, when met with a terrible earthquake. It is hardly talked about, was said to have been stopped, but is it?
They need to do a deep dive on some of the information. Too much to explain.
