I really do understand it when she said that being Asian makes it harder to find urself. Aimee song has always inspired me with her confidence and elegance. So happy to see u guys together.
I think she meant when she was younger at school etc. She is from California so she was probably one of the only Asians which is why she probably didn't feel like she fit in. x
Yes, because of cultural difference definitely, therefore, you never see any Asian going around and say 'i don't like myself i don't like the way i look'. And also that notion is common across most of the Asian countries that used to be a Western colony, in which the native people were forced to adapt/look up to the metropolitan states' culture, appearance, mannerism, etc.. that pretty much explains why there's a crazy beauty standard in many East and South East Asian countries such as smaller , straighter nose is beautiful, lighter skin is prettier, V-shape jawline is a must, double eye-lid is better than semi or single eye-lid (and look how other people make fun of slanted, single eye-lid people). Imagine growing up everybody keeps telling you that that and that is beautiful and you don't look like any of that, i think that's what Aimee Song and Wenqing Meng meant when she said she couldn't fit in.
White dominance, asian ridicule. A lot of asians growing up in western societies feel like they need to escape being asian due to the typical nerd/geek/uncool stereotype that's placed on us. I remember feeling a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment when i was younger whenever someone would say to me hey you're a cool asian, as though being a regular asian is a negative thing. For most of my teen years I really wanted to be as white as I could because I wanted to be accepted by my white society in australia. I felt like I had to laugh along at racist asian jokes or be interested in white people things just to fit in/not be seen as uncool. Now in my 20s I am proud to be asian and i have found myself. And it's not just asians in western societies, its asians in asia too. we live in a world where white is better, so many girls in asia aspire to marry a white man to climb up the social heirarchy ladder or get plastic surgery to get rid of asian features like a wide nose so they can have a skinny pointy white looking nose etc. it's sad really.
It's funny, from my perspective, everytime I met someone with Asian features here in Europe, I saw them as cool and confident, and me, on the other side, white girl, I still struggle with my image, I am even starting to hate my skinny pointy nose, and wish it was smaller... What a world we live in!
I love this so much and I agree with what Aimee said about Violette accentuating someone's beauty rather than changing it! That really the reason why I enjoy her videos a lot 😍❤️
I just found your channel a few days ago and it's been AMAZING FOR ME. I've been working so hard on my skincare routine and I want to embrace my healthy skin with light makeup instead of a full beat everyday. Your videos are light, creative, effortless and fun!
Could you please talk more about French perspective on accepting what you look like - interesting topic, didn't realise it was so embedded in French culture
We understand if you get caught up with work and your personal life. Thank you for still making videos! Your videos are so original and relaxing and artistic! Definitely nothing like the usual videos we see usually with the usual beauty guru lights and setup and caked up makeup!
Nyssa Hasan She did a stunning look on a black French friend of hers a while back but yes, no Southeast Asian person yet. Fingers crossed but you should look at the video I mentioned. Many of the same tips are applicable for both black and brown girls!
Kim M black and brown/olive are very different, both in terms of skin color and facial features. But I know Violette includes diverse women so I wouldn't be surprised if she featured a Middle Eastern or Indian woman in the future.
S 2017 They aren't...black people look like everything due to voluntary interracial dating and involuntary mixing, during the slave trade. Case in point, black people are not usually black in color and actually run the gamut from porcelain to nightshade (including olive) and several of my black American friends look Southeast Asian due to their multiracial heritage or parentage from Indo-Trinidadian background. We're more alike than you think
It is so interesting to see the difference between European and American woman. In Europe I think we do not care too much to be likable, just as you said to be yourself, unique! As always great video! And you girls are amazing and beautiful!
This video just inspired me a lot. As it was mentioned in the video, you're way of make up is not changing the face but adoring what you have and make it shine even more. And as an Asian living in a western country, this was something more than another make-up routine video. I love your videos, make-up and your beliefs in beauty!xx
Aimee was bang on the money when she complimented you, that you don't change anyone's face and rather, you highlight and accentuate the best features - exactly how makeup should be used. Love what you do Violette, you're my make up icon!
This is the first time that I've thought of this about someone, but the way that Aimee smiles at you is like the smile from someone who loves you unconditionally.
two of my favorite people in the world -- how had i not seen this video before?! I'm literally in awe of how inspirational you two are, especially when it comes to the philosophies of beauty! so lovely, needless to say, i'm a huge fan!
I so resonate with what Aimee says. I really appreciate you bringing an Asian woman onto your channel! Aimee is the best and both of you are so admirable!
Hi Violette, just discovered your channel and am obsessed with all of your video! You keep it simple and natural, nothing to extreme or difficult to try on our own faces. Love the simplicity that you bring. Thank you!
Super Loved the video.. Aime’s look is so fresh but yet so Glam.. Love her style and I happen to follow her too.😊. Both of you have such a lovely vibe it shines through in the video.. Blessings and lots of Love to the both of you .❣️❣️
Found your channel by accident today and I am in love love love with its content!!! Its so stunning how you can highlight facial features that makes us who we are. It helps us find our own beauty in our own skin!!! Thank You so so so much for inspiration!!
You are back! So happy you are in a position to truly revamp the Laude brand while still being the Vi we have all come to know, respect and love. Great video and I look forward to more.
MY TWO FAVORITES IN ONE VIDEO!!!!!! OMGGGGGG love this so much. so unexpected to see you two in a video together! Always a superb job on the aesthetic features with the closeups and cut-aways to the minute details of the makeup. well done
That highlight!! Looking like that is my everyday goal. I use cream highlighter to achieve it but you did it so well with powder! This is exactly why I watch your channel. I learn something new from every video ❤️
You are such an artist! Every video is stunning. You made me realize how we as Americans wear too much makeup trying to hide ourselves when really we should be celebrating our unique beauty. Less is more, or more is better in certain places! Thank you :)
Two of my favorites in one video...perfection! Love the look you did on her - that eyeshadow was gorgeous! I love blush because it makes you look awake and alive and so many people these days seem to hate blush so I love seeing blush as a feature in a look and that it's not something you need to be afraid of...and all this coming from someone with rosacea 😂
I love this! Her skin really suits glitter because of her even complection. I struggle with a lot of redness and I find that to pull of glittery eyeshadows I need a solid base underneath. Plus a bit more cover in the foundation. But this looks great on Aimee and suits her bubbly personality:))
I'm Asian with the narrow eyelids as Aimee. I never pull shimmer or glitter eyeshadow that high, because it tends to make my eyes photograph flat and makes them look smaller. If I do shimmer, I keep in in the center and below the crease. Can you suggest other techniques for playing with glitter on Asian eyes that is still flattering? XX
this look is very flattering, I think if anything it depends on the tone and texture of the glitter shadow you use - the glitter should have a fine texture and have a good blend of color
I am soo happy to find your channel!! Is like where have you been all my life?! Your style is what I am all about! I have been thinking all this time that I don´t do make up "the right way" but with you I am starting to learn that makeup is like fashion and that you can have your own style to do it. You do so many things that I do as well (like using my fingers for everything and using lipstick as blush). You are my makeup soulmate :3 PLEASE keep the videos coming!! and thank you for sharing!
I'm not a fan of rose colors, but this collection is one of the best, or the best, collection I've ever seen on Estee Lauder. If it won't come back, then please keep doing collections like this with them! Love from Perú ❤️
You have inspired me to try and do my eye make up, something that felt daunting to me in the past. So now I have easy but fabulous look for everyday, thanks😍
Your videos change my mood and make me feel better every time I see them and yes I would try to do this make up look, Love you violette! You are the best! Saludos desde Mexico! Xoxo!
Omg I love this. THIS is what I imagine, in my mind, what a fun and light hearted get together between two young French ladies to look like lol. Sharing beauty tips and being absolutely glamorous yet effortless. Love you chanel !
Absolutely loving your videos and especially this one! It is one of my favorites because of the makeup look (I will try to recreate) and for the great discussion that you two had ❤️
would love a video on some of your favourite products, particularly a low coverage everyday concealer! I find it so hard to get one that looks natural if I'm not wearing any other base products
I really do understand it when she said that being Asian makes it harder to find urself. Aimee song has always inspired me with her confidence and elegance. So happy to see u guys together.
Wenqing Meng Interesting.I've never heard about that.

I adore all of your videos. This simplicity is such a fresh relief from the full face, full coverage, full contour theme
Anna-Carolina agree with you!
The videos like a hot bath, massage, and glass of champagne to me. Mellow and uber stylish. Thanks so much.
I love this so much and I agree with what Aimee said about Violette accentuating someone's beauty rather than changing it! That really the reason why I enjoy her videos a lot 😍❤️

Yay !! thanks for the love !
this makeup is GORGEOUS, dramatic but not too heavy, i’ll definitely need to try this myself! love this video

Violette did an amazing job. It compliments her friends face and personality so well.
I would love to see you do make up on an Indian/ brown skin tone.
Nyssa Hasan She did a stunning look on a black French friend of hers a while back but yes, no Southeast Asian person yet. Fingers crossed but you should look at the video I mentioned. Many of the same tips are applicable for both black and brown girls!
Hi Kim, yeah I saw that video already, the purple eye make up was gorgeous!
Kim M black and brown/olive are very different, both in terms of skin color and facial features. But I know Violette includes diverse women so I wouldn't be surprised if she featured a Middle Eastern or Indian woman in the future.

I'm obsessed with that eyeshadow! You are so lovely x
This is the first time that I've thought of this about someone, but the way that Aimee smiles at you is like the smile from someone who loves you unconditionally.
CA-NON !!! la seule et unique personne de tout RUclips qui me donne envie de me maquiller ! Merci bcp.
Aimee is just a ray of sunshine! Loved this collab.
OK you've got Aimee, Fenty, and all kinds of rose hues. This may just be my favorite video of yours ever! BRAVO!
Two of my favorities are here!! They are both beautiful and natural❤️
This look was stunning as usual. I think Aimee hit it on the head with that - you always accentuate someone's features and emphasise the beautiful!
I like how you make people feel more beautiful and show them how fun makeup can be.
J'aime toutes les vidéos!
Loved the look, Aimee looks sooo pretty!! Sparkiling and accentuating our natural look, that's the goal.
two of my favorite people in the world -- how had i not seen this video before?! I'm literally in awe of how inspirational you two are, especially when it comes to the philosophies of beauty! so lovely, needless to say, i'm a huge fan!

Anette Isaksen You know whats worse? Putting nude lipstick on :D
Haha YES stay away from beige! All life is lost, lol. Personally I prefer solid berry colors
I love these videos where someone does their everyday makeup and then you add a bit of vavavoom that would turn their look into a night/ fun look!
Great job! So beautiful! In love with this colour palette and how amazing it plays on this type of skin! 😍 You are both such an inspiration! 💕
