Bought this tent 2 yrs ago, first outing was Glencoe Scotland in November, 40 mph winds and sleet, this bad boy is solid, still no leaks, one pole did split where you pointed out, when pitching do the 2 short poles first then the 2 long, cheers from scotland.
Yep its a great tent at a silly cheap price! The poles are the only let down but they are easy to replace i am thinking of using 10.5mm poles as the main one and 9.5mm for the short pole ( dont think 10.5mm will like the sharp curve)
I have one. Planning to get away for a week or two sometime this autumn / winter. It's heavy though. Just fixed it to my empty ruck sack and I can feel it's there. With a bag and mat it will be enough for an old geezer like me. Never mind clothes, water, sandwich boxes and emergency rations. But hey, what price freedom. Times like this I wish my little dog was still around.
Used mine for the first time this weekend, I'm no tent expert lol ... did a great job though, up on a very wet and blustery Exmoor in North Devon, felt secure and was warm once I was in, plenty of space ( 2 man ) ...I was the sole occupier along with my motorbike gear ... I too got it on sale, it seemed like a decent, slightly cheaper alternative to the terra nova quasar 👍🏼
I like this tent and I will be upgrading the poles once eliexpress settles down from the lockdown. I did get a chance to use it out in the last storm we had before lockdown and it was great ( kind of don't bother with trip videos as no one watches then 🤣) it's a well under rated tent which is good as they can be had for a great price
Great review mate, thanks. I'm currently looking for a new tent for motorcycle touring in outback Australia and this may be a good size vs weight option. Cheers.
Cheers! I have slept in this twice once in the garden and once out in Wales during a storm ( in the woods) it's a great tent for the money it's huge for one and should be fine. I find my videos of out walking don't get many views so kind of not bothered for awhile
Bought one of these a few years back. Used it a few times and really liked it. Had a socially distanced festival last month and used this as my accommodation, didn't even notice the rain when it through it down (probably more likely because of the beer). Only issue was like you guessed that the rain pooled around the supports. For one person it was plenty of space.
Hi, just came across this video. I'm a first timer and bought this tent to have a camp out on a Scottish hilltop. You mention near the end of the video that you would replace the pegs supplied, with titanium ones from AliExpress. Can you specify which ones please? As I say, it's all new to me and I'm in my 70s and it's on my to do "Bucket list" any help would be appreciated. Archie
Took it out two weekends ago for the last uk storm! It was great its massive inside for one and even with the light 8 5mm poles it was solid didnt flap or move around much great tent
Good review, I’m thinking this one or the Cairngorm 2, can you tell me if each vestibule has a footprint so that you can keep gear off the wet or damp ground? And does it come with a footprint?
Hi mate. I've got the peak 3.1 an finding it the same the hugs are coming lose. What size did you use, the shrink tube. Thanks for any feedback. Yours Andy
@@thegearshed2128 I've put some on now an thanks for the idea. It's holding well. Should be out on the hills next month. Thank you for the feedback. Yours Andy. How's the tent holding up. Was thinking about getting one this year for winter.
Thanks for the review, used it in my decision to buy one of these tents. Waiting for it to be delivered. One question, when you changed the guy ropes what diameter cord did you use ?
The cord I used was quite thick 4mm but used it as it was glo in the dark stuff😂 but I usually use 3mm stuff with reflective yarn in it just search guy rope on ebay
@@thegearshed2128 Thanks for the info, I cannot find 3mm paracord in Malaysia so I'm going to use 4mm paracord with Line-lok cleats, that should hold up to the majority of weather conditions over here.
P.S. Found a seller on Aliexpress who can supply replacement poles.. Can you confirm 9.5mm poles fit the clips on your Cloud peak 2 ??? And were they supplied with the pre-bends in them ??
Yes i use 9.5mm poles in mine👍 i ordered poles from china but forgot to measure them proply and ended up buying three DAC alloy poles from germany to get the right length. It makes the tent much stronger i also use velcro cable ties around the cross over points making it more ridged
No doesn't come with a footprint, it does have a part footprint that can go in one of the vestibules so you have a clean dry storage area for boots and packs.
@@thegearshed2128 it looks like it’s got plenty headroom and open width inside, I was looking at the Cairngorm 2 as well, I was away the other night in the Big Agnes 2 man, what’s your thoughts on the Cairngorms 2 for inner space?
@@AHandsomeman not seen the Cairngorms 2 but I really like this tent it's got tons of room inside and apart from its weight ( it's not light at 4kgs) it's a great winter tent
Thanks for the upload.. I looked at this tent, and went with the Vango Nemesis Pro 3 . Better in terms of spec, poles, fly and bath tub.. Same money.. slightly lighter.. Do you have a link to the poles you ordered from China..?? Thanks in advance... You might want to check out my review of the Mobi garden 2 plus. 133 USD From Aliexpress..Full 4 season expedition tent..
I did look at the vango but didnt like the arch poles as i couldnt easily replace them with stronger poles plus the pole sleaves had reports of wearing fast. I do like everything else about the vango. The modi garden looks like a great tent ( did watch your review good one) its the colour that kind of puts me off bit to bright

Great intro video review. Really comprehensive without too much waffle, thank you. Any chance of a follow up review in the field?
