I've been saying forever that the Skyrim modding scene is closer to a true metaverse than anything any company has created so far.
Enderal really was the first stone into the marvel that is Skyrim's modding community, and the first real showcase of using Skyrim as a platform and engine to make an entirely new game in a different world, with different enemies, mechanics, and so on.
I don't even think TES6 will surpass it tbh. 5 years after it comes out and people will still be making revolutionary mods for skyrim. Fallout 4 mods are seriously lacking in comparison to skyrim.
@Kieran Wilcox I think Starfield has a real shot at being the most modded game of all time. It has plenty of room for Mod Authors to work without bumping into each other which would almost eliminate the time waisted making patches or worrying about compatability constraints.
@@Melatoninist time will tell. I somehow doubt it will reach the same level though but I'd like to be wrong
All I have to say is just WOW! I would love to see someone do a full playthrough of Dark Souls 1 in Skyrim's engine someday!
Sadly it will get a cease and desist letter without a doubt (specially as it becomes known). Fromsoftware has already taken down a few mods of Skyrim that simply added armors from Dark Souls, so this project stands no chance. :(
@@gtasaleon How stupid is that? Theres literally 0 harm in having armors imported from another game. Although was it actually Fromsoft that did the c n d or the company that owns the Dark souls ip?
@@gtasaleon Heavy Burns just killed this mod😞
Sure you would! (People don't really watch Letsplays anymore)
@@ToweringPepsiMan Companies have no humbleness. They always kill the coolest fan made shit even though it effects their bottom line very little. What percentage of Dark Souls players don't also own Skyrim or vice versa? Probably a high percentage I'd wager. If the higher ups want to make more money, make an easier game (I don't want them to actually do that, but it's true if we put profit above all other factors)
Very hyped, hope the mod gets more attention so theres a actual chance of it ever releasing
The more attention it gets the higher the chance fromsoftware ends this project swiftly... they already don't allow skyrim to have even armor from dark souls let alone the entire game 😂
@@Spacemaaan Where are you getting this from? From has never cared at all in fact the director encourages artists to be inspired by his work. Even if this isn’t just out of your butt it would be the publisher not From Software.
I hope for a compatibilty for skyrim vr, it would be insane
If it's just a skyrim se mod there shouldn't be any reason why it wouldn't work with skyrim vr.
@@fffrrraannkk you'd be surprised how much doesn't work similarly between SE and VR. You can even see in many mod descriptions that there may be issues in VR or that it's not fully compatible/may require some tweaks

So far works perfectly!
I can confirm it works fine
Damn, the dude who modded this is such a Chad. Taking on a project that's arguably on the same scale as Skyblivion and the like all by himself, and actually getting this far this quickly? That's actually insane. Bro's got the talent and work ethic of a shonen protagonist.
Silly to compare this to skyblivion, it really ain't on the same level
Bro it's a port it takes so much less effort 💀
@@justinbarton717 Maybe not in detail, for obvious reasons, but in size they are comparable since most of Dark Souls map is vertical rather than horizontal like Elder Scrolls maps. If you were to lay it out horizontally it would be of a comparable size.
@@vormiam9242 Yeah, but Skyblivion requires making new assets from wholecloth, redoing voice acting, and etc. Updating Oblivion to match SE's aesthetic.
Not to say this project isn't hella impressive. It's a very cool thing he's doing. But it's also very different.

Man... 2011 was one of the best years in gaming for me. Some of my favorite games came out that year: Skyrim, Dark Souls 1, Skyward Sword, Minecraft, Pokemon Black/White (kinda), The Binding of Isaac, Uncharted 3, TWO Assassin's Creed games and even Skylanders. But also games like Limbo, Temple Run, Rock of Ages, Worms, Jurassic Park the game, Lego Harry Potter (y 5-7) that all hold a nostalgic place in my heart. And I haven't even listed the games I know people like but I didn't play like Batman and Sonic Generations

Seeing this makes me want to see mods that inject the scenery and architecture of this mod into the world of Skyrim itself. Such as adding to the ruins and cities to make them grander and more interesting

no way they don't get a cease and desist, but I hope not
I haven't seen a case where a Mod has received a copyright strike yet. I think as long as they're not directly making money off of it (which most of them aren't), the companies tend to sort of ignore it. Or don't hear about it.
Not any Nintendo property involved. It should be safe
Fromsoftware doesnt like when people straight up rip and steal their assets, like what happened to team tal dark souls armors for skyrim. This will 100% get a ceasr and desist.
@@fuckwhatydoing6054 so far full_inu hasn't gotten one for his elden ring ports so possible they won't care considering this content is all 12 years old
@@artorias5737 Because full inu did it in a way that doesnt violate copyright infringement, he did not directly rip assets but only recreated the design from scratch. Bandai namco does NOT approve of bypassing software protection to directly rip their assets which is whats happening here, like what happened with team tal, this will most definitely get taken down.
Nice to see Lost Izalith in it’s authentic state: half finished. Just like father Miyazaki intended
Hearing Undead Burg as one word feels cursed
I remember when i (a beginner to souls game back in 2012), after lots of death and suffering, reaching Anor Londo was really such a great feeling of achievement, with the beauty (despite the 2011 graphics) this one captures really well, i can't wait to see on golden hour (evening sunset where the original took place) be like
4:23 lost Izalith was a bit of a work in progress in the original so it makes sense for the creator of this mod to match that
First of all.... wow, a one-man army right there! Passion truly beats anything else. This world space with Requiem mod will fit nicely together I think 😅 Great video as always!
God imagine just walking around in vr
This person is amazing
I still fondly remember playing an old mod called "Vigilant" which motivated me to try the Dark Souls games for the first time.
I loved how well it used Elder Scrolls lore for it's levels and epic bosses. I couldn't get enough of that style so I played a Soulsborne game, DS3, for the very first time. Honestly, what an amazing experience! Modding truly is incredible.
It's called VIGILANT.
@@dealerofic3cream1 Oops, it's been years. Thanks for the correction.
Now let's import this to skyrim VR so we can finally experience darksouls VR
I am speechless with the modders of Skyrim, this reminds me of Vigilant, how one person created the best quest mod of Skyrim, alone. Looking forward to this.
Ngl if this can be played on SkyrimVR I'm gonna be super excited
As someone who's never played Dark Souls, I'm going to both love going through this and hate missing all of the secrets I know nothing about. Absolutely insane project.
Can't help but wonder - since it's a one to one remake that seems to be incredibly faithful to the original, maybe one could even use a Dark Souls 1 walkthrough to find everything!
Why not pick up DS1 and play it while you wait? It's a great game, it's worth giving it a shot at least.
@@Greywander87 True, although I can't imagine I'd be very good at it
@@zoro4661WasTaken No one was very good at the game when we first started. In your first hour, you will get your teeth kicked in repeatedly. And by your third hour or so, you'll be curb stomping those same enemies like it's nothing. The game is brutal, but fair, and every death leaves you thinking about what you can do differently next time, eager to try again. It's not for everyone, but those who love it _really_ love it. You'll never know until you give it a shot.
It's also not as hard as people say it is. I think a big part of it is that it's very different from a lot of other games and just takes some getting used to. It's also easy to die, and even pro players can get themselves killed if they're goofing off or being reckless. Though with enough HP the game actually becomes a lot more forgiving.
@@Greywander87 Good to know! I'll definitely add it to my list of games to grab
Dark Souls 1 is definitely worth playing and taking time to learn, I did my first run blind over 10 years ago and now whenever friends want to get into the series, I give then a hand to keep them in
Def make follow ups for parts 2 & 3, I can't wait to see how everything turns out!
That he managed to model all this in mere three months screams to me that this man needs to be hired asap by other modders
He hasn’t modeled a single thing, he’s ripped the maps straight from Dark Souls and putting the assets into Skyrim. People have done the exact same thing with Blade & Sorcery.
its insanity that 1 guy did this in such a short time. There must have been some way to map it across into skyrims engine, its honestly not possible to have recreated all these areas in such a short time frame. But even then, figuring out how to map two completely different game engines together is genius in itself, and acomplishing that in such a short time frame is equally as impressive, if not more impressive, than recreating it from scratch. That same technology could be used to recreate any games that run on the same/similar engine to DS1, in skyrim.
Either way this mans a genius
Nah you're tripping it's not comparable at all to creating from scratch that would be ridiculously hard for hundreds let alone 1
Wow can't believe it's not butter.
If more people were to join this project to help, you know that would be cool to see; joining ds1 and ds3 and maybe even ds2 in the same world. Start by joining Irithyll with Anor Londo together through the big lift and work back on the rest of the world from there.
One of my dreams
DS2 Would unfortunately not work very well. It cheats way too much, Forest of Giants is way closer to Majula for example. The entirety of Shaded Woods would cover the skybox of the courtyard entrance leading to Aldia's Keep.
It would need a lot of work done to make these areas work nicely with each other.
I honestly wonder if Skyrim can even handle the boss's skeletons and animations for Part 2. But if this all works together, it'll make for an amazing experience.
By the way, are these assets ported in or all original? They look very accurate.
I think OP said they're ported. Modding tools make that generally pretty easy
Modern animation frameworks have made this possible.
A Solaire follower would be legendary.
Anor Londo remind me of Summerset a lot, would love to see modders use it as inspiration of they make the cities from that region
Guess we just need skyrim ported in dark souls' engine to have a slice of the altenate reality where their devs were swapped
To have an alternate reality where Skyrim is engaging to play 😂
I've been trying to convert my skyrim into a souls-like game for a while, but this will definitely improve my modlist when this mod is finished.

The Dark Souls Combat mods will make this epic! Amazing Mod work. Fantastic setting!
"And further more lead us deeper into the ruins of lost izalith, which is a little work in progress in this port".
Well, no stress, is a little work in progress in the main game too.
Against my better judgement I’ll admit… I just started playing Skyrim in March 2023… So now I can try DS1 also. So excited.
That's gonna be a whoooole bunch of assets from the og game. Which is gonna cause some trouble.
i don't know how the modder did it exactly but you can tell that they're using skyrim assets, some areas like the crystal caves make it especially obvious that it's not using the original meshes and textures from dark souls
Someone need to help this dude make this! I want to see this polished as much as possible!
DAMN. Thanks for bringing this to my attention Heavy Burns. No idea this was a thing.
I played the Vigilant and Glenmoril mods, and i thought the landscapes were huge.
Then bam, Dark souls 1.
Great work from the modder and well done video. Cheers
Dark Souls leveling and progression really should be a considered for later in the project as well
Imagine the definitive way to play DS1 ends up being Skyrim
2011 trilogy TES V: Skyrim, Darksouls and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. I hope we can see all 3 of them in one game. :D
One game to rule them all,
One game to find them,
One game to bring them all
and in the darkness bind them.
Skyrim: "I'll be whatever you want me to be baaaby."
Skyrim always finds a way to pull me back in.
Woow!
Is this Todd multiverse ?
I was thinking, 'why move a masterpiece to an inferior engine?'
And then saw the 'graphical' upgrades...

i double dare them leaving you with more than 10 fps in blighttown.
having stuttering is PART of blighttown.
its not the same when it runs smooth ):
This is either gonna require buying DS1, or this is not long for this world. Mostly due to copyright.
Cease and desist is probably coming I'd reccomend posting mirror links and dropping it in clouds and pastebin pronto lol
Wow, the amazing chest look even more amazing!!
Holy cow the possibilities. Imagine if he implements NPCs into Anor Londo so it can become a city hub. That would be beyond amazing.
Of course it's Rudolph! What a madlad....
All that in three months by one person. Incredible!
The only thing I needed to see here is when the player woke up in the Undead Asylum and Ralof will say *"Hey you, you're finally awake."* then begins the tutorial.
finally, every game journalist's wet dream...
Dark Souls with difficulty setting
You know the thing that always struck me about the world of DS1 is it seemed like everything was built for a race of beings that were a lot bigger than yourself, it gave it this sense of wonder and intrigue
We're playing Dark Souls in Skyrim now. Not surprised.
Imagine if this ends up being a better version of darksouls than the official remaster we got, wouldn't that be so ironic?
I hope this finally gets someone motivated to update the darksouls armor to the latest cbbe 3ba with physics.
Can’t explain how happy this makes me
One Mod to rule them all, One Mod to find them, One Mod to bring them all and in the game bind them
Can't wait until it's really finished.
I think I have an idea on how it was so hastily done. I think the map files are the same kind of file, so the Dark Souls map data files can be ported to Skyrim through the Creation Kit. All that's really needed is getting textures on the assets when it comes to the areas, and the lighting needs to be reworked as well. Enemies and enemy AI are the things that take the longest to make. Especially for one person.
I feel like this would fry my computer.
I would like to see Dark Souls style combat mechanics in a Skyrim world.
Bah don't care about the amazing chest ahead... i want the Trap Below

This is extremely crazy. Literally you can kill a moster and later go to a tabern or some rpg thing like that.
I need to play this in Skyrim VR
Don't know about you guys, but I'll be playing Dark Souls 1 as a stealth archer 😂
he did that... IN ***THREE*** MONTHS?!
At some point I forgot I was watching a video about Skyrim
I’m baffled that the modder literally copy pasted the whole of dark souls into Skyrim, those textures and meshes were somehow ripped from one game and implemented into another with a totally different engine
I wish he also make this world's as literally how you play DS1
I mean before going to anor londo you need to activate both bells of awakening first
wow 3 months by one person, it really shows how talented these modders are
