- Sometimes your shots on set are too smooth to tell the story you are trying to tell. Instead of returning to set to reshoot, here is a quick and EASY method to build that handheld feel into your already existing footage. In this video I will show you how to create fake handheld footage in Premiere Pro. This is an easy trick I have used multiple times to save or enhance projects I have worked on. Its an excellent work around for beginners in Premiere that is sure to inspire you on your next project whether you are a VFX artist, Video Editor and/or so much more!

Brilliant tutorial. I'm making a gameplay video where I want the intro to be dramatic with a fake camera movement effect, and this works splendidly. Thanks a ton!
Love that! Would love to see it
Nice job man. I was looking for this for a while so Thanks!
Awesome I’m glad!
This is amazing. Thank you!
You are welcome!
Genius, genius, genius!
Haha thank you!
Dude, you’re a genius. That’s so cool!! Literally taking one movement n applying to the other is so smart
Love being creative with effects. Glad I could share it with you.
awesome!
Thank you!
I just thought of using this for something cool, thanks.
That's awesome. I would love to see how you utilize this! Email me at bryanholt@bholtfx.com
So simple, so effective. Whoa. Thank you! Sub'd!
I use this effect way more than I’d like to admit. Thank you!
thanks for this!
That's genius, thanks!!
Welcome!
Thank you so much! Indebted 🙏
Welcome!
Very good. Thank you! I love a nice workaround that doesn't involve another addin / plugin etc.
Happy New Year Everyone!
This was great thanks
Glad you enjoyed it!
thankyou soo much you saved me
Awesome that’s my goal
I watched so many of these handheld effect tutorials but none of those gave the actual handheld effect properly, you're underrated! 🩷
Thank you very much!
Welcome!
Thanks a lot!
Welcome!
wow i am impressed man
Thank you ☺️
@@BryanHoltFX u deserve a lot of followers
@@iamethio I’m working on it! :)
Super interesante!
Thank you!
Great effect results. Not sure I caught the reasoning why the horizontal flip needed to be added to the top layer clip?
Haha I edited out that portion by accident and you are the first person to catch it!
The reasoning was that I needed to mirror the movements because that’s what the stabilizer is doing. Technically vertical should be mirrored to but the effect works.
@@BryanHoltFXcan you please explain in more detail what do you mean by that?
@@AndresArosemena I wanted to take the negative values of the movement and turn them positive. A stabilizer is essentially creating the opposite value of movement over time (velocity)
It just comes out more pleasing and harmonic to the eye. However feel free to experiment!
I just did a version of this in a demo in NUKE. Which I need to re record for the channel.
@@BryanHoltFX oh got it! thanks for the explanation!
@@AndresArosemena welcome!!
Great tutorial brotha. I followed this step by step, but the issue I'm still having is that the effected clip comes out smaller and appears on top of the original clip. Like a rectangle within a rectangle as opposed to the edited clip fully eclipsing the original. Hope that makes sense. Not sure how to adjust it.
Yeah have to make sure both are the same size and that your final format is in the desired output.
@@BryanHoltFX I should have mentioned that both are the same size. Can you explain briefly what you mean by final output? I just started using premiere and am kind of learning as I go. Appreciate you.
What if I have my entire cut done in the timeline and want to add handheld to the whole thing? Does my handheld need to be the same running time length?
Yes. Or a series of shots and you have to recreate cuts if that makes sense.
Thanks for this! I'm getting this slight crosshatch moire over the footage when I do this. Have you seen that before?
Could be interlace footage
Interlace or, do you have screens in the shot. You can also get moire if there is a mismatch in the shutter speed (and it can become evident during stabilization)
@@BryanHoltFX im sure it’s something I’ve done wrong I will check!
Why don't you just share the whole footage of the handheld shake on the fire without borders by showing it in full screen
If you are talking about sharing the footage I used, I thought about it. However, the spirit of the tutorial is that you can shoot right now on your smartphone or camera, and use that data to get the shake you want. I am also usually hesitant on giving away my own stock that I shoot (In this case the fire footage) as I will sometimes sell my footage on websites like Envato and Artgrid. I hope this answers your question.
Why did you mirror the clip? I didn’t get why.
To mirror the movements of the shake. Stabilize is attempting to stop the shake. I hope this makes sense.
@@BryanHoltFX I swear you just mirrored the clip tho, not mirroring the shake. Maybe I’m mistaken.
@@BryanHoltFX The horizontal flip 3:00. It's not really explained. You should just be able to do the same thing without doing this flip, right? it doesn't actually do anything besides mirror the shake which doesn't really matter.
Maybe I'm missing something.
@@BryanHoltFX Any input? Seemed fruitless.
Hi can you make video on how to make this effect ruclips.net/video/_RAWlmhMbpk/видео.html
or like this ruclips.net/video/epDaMouy7ho/видео.html
cuz i need it to make my game logo underwater effect
Here is another video currently on the channel ruclips.net/video/hDOsIpLOSWw/видео.html that is part of the above effect. Use a mask and amp up the displacement should get you close. You might need to use a few other distortion effects. (I will still add this to my to do list!)
how smart you are bro
Thank you!
