Ha ha yes that was crazy as you said.. but brilliant idea too and still good time despite filming and pushing! Well done. I think you could cycle most of the hill up and down if you had less ice and snow on path. Always thought to cycle this munro but never thought to go right over it.. Incredible trip and so inspiring!
I had warmer jackets in the handlebar bag - it was my hands that got me! I was too late switching to the bulky winter gloves and my fingers were so sore!
Nice to see what that route looks like on the ground (y) My pal has moved to not far from Montrose, so I'll maybe start gravelling more of that kind of thing. I think I'd take the bypass and miss out the summit though ;-)
Wrong time of year, respect, for doing that in those conditions but definitly a run for late spring/summer. I've had an awefull time with those big drainage channels across trails. I usually go thro wild areas with a full camping load on the bike, I like to take it slow. I have to get off all the time as those drains will break my wheel.
I swore never to again after I rode it. But it's been just long enough that I have forgotten how hard it was and am thinking about something nearby again! The mind plays tricks!
@@RustyRidesGravel That’s for sure. I’ve just bought Ed Shoote’s book. So I’m going to work my way through that. Got my first gravel event in The Lake District in July. So need to build on my distances and climbing.
Fantastic effort!
Have walked it many years ago, now days mtb as many as I can, thanks for sharing 👍
I take my hat off to you. Definitely a mountain bike route.
So excited about the ptarmigan. Still think you're bonkers tho

absolute madness! Great job!
Your some man. Bonkers route, well done. 👌
I did Mount Keen on the mtb a few years ago. A wee out and back from Invermark. Well done for doing it on the gravel bike.👍
Was a bit worried about you up there without a proper jacket on! Glad you made it down safely. Lovely descent to the end...well done!
