HAHAHHA I remembered going through the Mekong deltas in early 80s. Every single ferry ride took 2hr to cross. There were so much pushing and shoveling, I hated those journeys. You have got to be the most patient person on earth, you even socialized with the locals while waiting in traffic lol.

Phuc, you are a very patient man. I took a bus on the way down to the Mekong delta and was glad I did. The roads were spotty with some being paved and others just being dirt and bombed out with huge potholes. Definitely a minefield for the weary traveler to contend with especially at night if they dare.
It’s a nightmare with the traffic there ! In Saigon, People even drive their bikes on the sidewalks or putting bikes or other stuffs on it ! I saw a few times when I was in vn, the traffic jam was so bad & there were some ambulances trying to get through & no one bothered to give way for the ambulance! Scary trying to walk to the other side ! 😱😱

Your observation and comments are so true of many Vietnamese drivers. THEY CANNOT DRIVE. They don’t follow the rules of the road.
I do everything to avoid traffic like this... even drive late at night. Leaving the bigger cities is the best of Vietnam. I hope to see you at the boat market. Thanks for sharing!

The closest I’ve come to death was on the highway between Saigon and Hanoi. I was in central VN on the way to Ly Son Island, when a tourist bus decided to over take another. OMG, I was forced to the very edge of the road on my bike. The tourist buses front wheel was centimetres from me, when I noticed a farmer was walking 2 buffalo along the edge walking towards us. Bikes were being forced off the road everywhere but as I got closer I couldn’t go anywhere as the edge of the road had dropped away. Couldn’t stop as hundreds of bikes behind me in single file. Luckily the bus driver noticed and moved across just enough for me to squeeze between the front wheel of the bus and the buffalo. My legs brushed the buffalo as I went passes. Very lucky

I love my country, I really hope Everyone do right rules for traffic. Because many people try to pass over, drive wrong road, even the narrow lane and special in the bridge.. it's easy stuck and take long time to release from there with so many people. If everyone try to calming (patient) do right the rules as step by step... Traffic will be resolved faster. Stuck in the bridge with me not be safe for everyone. Hope in future we will be better the traffic culture.

Ước gì người tham gia giao thông nước nhà sớm khắc phục tình trạng sai luật trầm trọng như: Vượt ẩu, đặc biệt xe moto nhỏ bé, nên giữ khoảng cách an toàn với xe tải và xe hơi. Nếu muốn vượt phải đủ an toàn mới vượt. Chú ý luật ưu tiên, đường nhỏ ra đường lớn.. tại VN chưa có biển stop sign, biển ưu tiên, chạy đúng luật thì có kẹc xe cũng sẽ từ từ được xử lý được. Nếu cố gắng vượt bị kẹc cứng trên cầu sẽ không lối nào để đi nữa, thì cầu nặng khi các trọng lượng đều tác động lên cầu cùng lúc (cùng lúc di chuyển xe, tác động trọng lực mạnh lên cầu cùng lúc)... dễ gây yếu cầu...kẹc vậy mà có xe cấp cứu, xe cứu quả thì khó mà qua được. Nhưng dù sao, đường hẹp đông dân, khó mà khắc phục hết tình trạng kẹc xe. Chỉ mong bà con chạy xe đúng luật, giữ khoảng cách, không vượt ẩu, chú ý điểm mù, chú ý đường ưu tiên, xe ưu tiên, luật ưu tiên... để mọi người an toàn! Love

Oh man, did the same thing but in reverse back in 2019 during tet. Was visiting my gf's family in long an and went back to saigon like 3 days later. Apparently the whole of saigon that had gone to visit family in the mekong delta had the exact same idea.
Driving from around nhut chanh in long an to district 12 in Saigon took about 5 hours xD

OMG, the traffic ! It’s like in L.A . The difference in L.A is with cars. I remembered the traffic in L.A a few years ago. We sit in the car for hours. I was so frustrated. It's happening now on highway in VN too at holidays...everybody going to vacation and people sitting half of day in a car for 100km 🤣🤣🤣

Never heard issue about traffic in Da Nang.
Please note that in this clip, traffic is at extremely high level because it happen on Holiday and after lift off all restriction of Covid, everybody want to go to hometown, everybody want to get out of city for vacation after 2 years of no travel.
HCM city is big hub for whole area, everybody come there for live and job so can imagine how it could be when everybody wants to goes out, the population of city now esstimated 12-13 millions people...it's a lot.

Hey bud, try doing a vlog on the Melkong delta river itself using boat ride. Traffic is pretty bad but not as stressful as on the road. It's actually more relaxing. Plus, you get to try out some exotic food along the way.
