22 years ago since I trained Taekwondo until the blue-brown belt. Now with 38 starting again with Taekwondo, my mind is empty, the glas is ready to be filled and I am so thrilled to go for that old new journey. Once a martial artist, forever a martial artist

Maybe in the south of Spain (Andalucia) the pronounce it with Z cause some of they use Z instead of S but the correct form is ESpaña ;)

Hello Sensei Jesse! I am going to compete in the USA NKF Karate Nationals and I was wondering which order I should do my katas in. Should I do my most comfortable kata first or save it for the finale? Your advice would be very much appreciated. Thank you and osu!

I just know it that you are a Shito-ryu style Karate. Loved to see you play the Kata.
I used to be a Shito-ryu Karate-ka also, but now I am move to Shotokan style. I can play both of style Kata, But sometimes I prefer to play Shito-ryu Kata.

Panji Rizki Maulana He talked about his branch affiliations and first instructors a few years back on his blog. It was a lesser-known branch of karate he named, something other than Shito Ryu. Of course, Jesse's gleaned and adopted things from so many masters over the years, he tends to just say he's a karateka.

Great video! I love your love for karate! People take this sport for the wrong reasons sometimes! Many, myself included, want to be the best and that's not the right reason to train in any martial art. It's so futile to even attempt to get within a stone's throw of being the best. I witnessed the man taught by Gichin Funakoshi and Masatoshi Nakayama himself and who taught all the legendary masters at the famous instructor academy in Tokyo do 1 move in 4 years I trained at his dojo so I speak from experience.
Enjoy the journey and just focus on learning for yourself and becoming a better person and a better karateka! I wish I had much worse technique and had enjoyed karate more!
i like how you ended with naihanchi shodan -- where karate starts and ends. you were impressive in competition!
We call the Kata you did at the top of the castle Chul-gi in Korean for TKD, translates to Iron Horse. I have done that kata shotokan style as well. It's a nice strong kata.

I'm a shotokan practitioner and I got taught ni bi po from sensei hasegawa from Japan. Honestly such a good competition Kata
I love Valencia, I have some family that have moved out there from England, so we try to visit whenever we can. We always make sure to go out from around 10 in the evening and have a coffee and cake out in the town, under the stars. If you can find the time, I really would recommend trying it too :)

Can I ask one more time if you know how to perform the kata ryuei-ryu kata ohan, or have you seen any sensei of the style perform it? I've never seen and I do not know anyone who has seen it, even this kata is in wkf list

You’re katas look great! Better than mine will ever look. I saw your bo kata as well. Just want to give you a humble tip for when we are out of quarantine time. They may be counting points against you because you need to start and end in the same spot. I saw that you end a little farther back and you can’t let your foot touch the outer square. Out of bounds. Osu!
Osu!, Im currently doing Kumite but I plan on switching to Kata when I get my black belt for more experience, ofc it doesnt mean Ill stop doing Kumite... I mean the adrenaline from racking up points is just too much fun :D

Ironically I really enjoyed the Naihanchi at the end the most although this kata wasn't the main event and simply was done on a rooftop instead of a huge competition hall.
